BT issues update on email outage as thousands of customers report log in issues

BT has issued an apology to customers who were 'unable to access their email' earlier today (February 15) as the issue has 'likely been fixed'. It comes as thousands of people across the UK reported issues accessing their BT email accounts on Saturday morning. On X (formerly Twitter) and Downdetector, customers said they could not either log in or connect to their email accounts. At around 10am, there was a peak of more than 5,000 reported issues with BT on Downdetector - 93% of these reports were due to email problems. Find out common tactics they use so you're ready to spot them: — BT (@bt_uk) February 12, 2024 Among the many comments, one user posted: 'BT Mail in North Yorkshire been down since since I got up at 5am.' Another wrote: 'BT email not responding on iphone or mac, but is responding on ipad, strange. All works via VPN.' Someone else said: 'Web mail down today. Can normally get into via office outlook - not this morning - completely down - cannot access web page which means all mail servers are down.' Meanwhile, on X a BT customer wrote to the broadband provider: '@bt_uk my mail is down at a really difficult time so thanks, hoping it's back soon.' This person complained: '@bt_uk why can't receive my emails? Try to login online and told my details are incorrect. How long will I be unable to access my emails?' The issue has been resolved, and we're very sorry for any inconvenience caused.' In response to another grumble, the BT account said: 'We have been made aware that the issues are now likely fixed, please try again.' Are you still having issues with your BT email account?
