Troy Traffic Jam car show featured 300 vehicles: Some of the best at event

Most traffic jams are a nuisance and annoying to deal with, unless you are at the Troy Traffic Jam. Each August, the city of Troy hosts its largest car show of the year. This year, the event took place Aug. 3 at the Columbia Center, an office park with a massive lot that can fit all the vehicles and festivities. With over 300 registered vehicles entering the show, panels with engineers and designers from automakers and an award show at the end, there was much to do at this event. TechTalks with GM, Ford and professional racing drivers The day was filled with panel discussions about cars, including one with Chevrolet, which hosted a talk about the Corvette ZR1 and ZR1x. The speakers were Corvette Chief Engineer Josh Holder and GM Performance Engineer Drew Cattell. They spent a lot of time riffing on how their new car was able to set the record for the fastest lap by an American vehicle around the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Nürburg, Germany. John McElroy, the moderator and host of "Autoline," said, "It's sort of become the de facto track that if you want to brag about how fast your car is, that's the track you go to." The Insurance Savings You Expect Great Rates and Award-Winning Service Affordable Auto Insurance, Customized for You More: 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X first to top $200,000 In another panel, from Ford Motor Co., Chief Program Engineer Greg Goodall and Design Manager Anthony Colard discussed what it took to build the Mustang GTD. This car was inspired by the Mustang GT3 that won the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona in January. As a road legal version of the race car, some changes were made so it would be compliant with road safety regulations and qualify as a street vehicle. Another discussion featured the President of the Motor Sports Hall of Fame George Levy, member of the Yenko racing family Lynn Yenko Zoiopolous and race car engineer Jim Kinsler. But the cars that showed up for the event were perhaps the biggest stars of the day. Check some out: 1 of 1 Over 10 million mustangs have been built according to Ford. There have been many trims and special editions over the years, but Lang Ware has a one-off Mustang. Ware's 2014 Ford Mustang GT was customized for SEMA (Specialty Equipment Marketing Association) in 2013, an auto show in Las Vegas focused on cars with custom builds. The car was modified by Classic Design Concepts and due to a last-minute invitation to the show, the company had just three weeks to prepare the car. The car kept it's original black paint while copper accents were added to the exterior and wheels, which led to the car earning the nickname "Bad Penny." Other modifications include a Ford racing supercharger that raises the horsepower to 624, three-piece wheels, a custom audio system and upgraded suspension components. Since SEMA in 2014, more power has been added and the car is now able to reach 760 horsepower, equal to the most recent Shelby GT500 models. Ware says "It's a combination of custom as well as power. That's what I really want." While saying the latest generation Mustang isn't his style, he's really fond of the new GTD. Cars and clothes Some people buy a car that fits their personality — and even their wardrobe. Jeri Swafford brought her sunverse yellow 1993 Mazda Miata and displayed it with a bit more enthusiasm than most at the event. She sat on the hood with a beach ball and "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" by Brian Hyland playing through a speaker as she wore a yellow bikini to match the song and her car. When asked about her favorite thing about her ride, she said, "I love everything about her. She's small, she fits me, I can reach the pedals. Her gear shift is awesome." Old car with a new engine Jeff Ray owns a 1964 Ford Mustang GT that was featured in the Detroit Free Press in May 2004 shortly after he bought it. The car currently has 97,000 miles, but has a new engine built by Patriot Performance that delivers 425 horsepower and has 7,200 miles on it. He had the motor built and shipped to him without oil and had it installed in Michigan. The car also had a new T5 Tremec transmission added to go along with several other upgrades. Ray said, "Everything behind the radiator is brand new. From the motor to the headers, even the driveshaft." Movie inspired horsepower Iconic cars from movies are sometimes released and sold to the public so fans can buy them — if they can get their hands on one. Dr. Fred Wasserman owns a 2009 Mustang Bullitt and uses the car to combine his favorite car with one of his favorite movies. The car has 315 horsepower and comes only with a 6-speed manual transmission. The highland green paint is the same color as the original car in the film. Ford has released Bullitts in honor of the film Steve McQueen plays the character Bullitt in the movie, a detective who is at odds with the mafia and trying to help take them down. The original 1968 Mustang Bullitt was involved in a high-speed chase in the film. Wasserman said, "You've got to see the movie. Then you'll know what everybody talks about and it's probably one of the greatest car chase scenes ever filmed." Tariff tension no big deal at popular N.B. car show

Bill Doherty is the chair for the Atlantic Nationals in Moncton. (Source: Derek Haggett/CTV News Atlantic) Thousands of car lovers from all over Canada and the United States have driven to Moncton this weekend for the 25th edition of the Atlantic Nationals. 'Biggest car show in Canada. Biggest tourism draw for a single event in New Brunswick,' said event chair Bill Doherty. Over the past 25 years, Doherty said they've had guests, vendors and entertainers from all 10 provinces, two of the three territories and 28 states. Doherty said the recent trade tension and tariff threats from President Donald Trump hasn't really been an issue with their American guests. They're trying to make light of an issue they can't control. 'We have so many great terrific friends in the U.S. They've been friends for years, they're still good, good friends and they really enjoy the hospitality up here,' said Doherty. 'We've had no talk of tariffs or trade or Trump or anything else, it's all been on the positive side.' Classic cars Thousands of car lovers gather in Moncton for the Atlantic Nationals. (Source: Derek Haggett/CTV News Atlantic) Cliff Waller of Wellington, Texas, has come 24 times and loves every minute of it. 'This is our people,' said Waller. 'It's a party all week long. It's a great atmosphere.' Waller is representing Mothers, an auto detailing supplies company which is one of the major sponsors of the show. 'I deal with major retail customers up here as well and you know there is some tension. Through the public, I haven't seen that,' said Waller. 'We realize there are some differences in our government, both countries, but I just completely stay away from politics.' Car fender The 25th Atlantic Nationals are held in Moncton this weekend. (Source: Derek Haggett/CTV News Atlantic) Kent Writtenberry is the owner of Kentz Kustomz Cycles located in Gasburg, Virginia. The vendor and entertainer has been coming for eight years. 'Everybody is so friendly. They take us in just like family,' said Writtenberry. He's trying to stay away from any sort of political talk about Trump, too, but isn't seeing any tension at the show. 'I don't see any difference. I don't see any difference money-wise, I really don't see any difference at all to be honest with you,' said Writtenberry. Kristin Brown and her family travelled from Vancouver to the Maritimes for the first time to enjoy a two-week vacation that was capped off with the car show. 'I absolutely love it. Hopefully we will be back,' said Brown. For now, her family has decided to stay away from the U.S. 'That was one of our main things was to just stay in Canada and just enjoy all of the different experiences and there's so much to explore,' said Brown. Pickup truck The Atlantic Nationals attract people from across Canada and the United States. (Source: Derek Haggett/CTV News Atlantic) Tim Parsons of North Sydney, N.S., has been coming for nine years, but he skipped a show down south this year because of the trade tension. 'Well, yeah, that's kind of keeping a lot of people away, not only me,' said Parsons. Like Brown and her family, he'll vacation in Canada for now. 'For the next couple, three or four years maybe. We'll see what happens,' said Parsons. Tide & Boar Owner Chad Steeves said the Friday of Atlantic Nationals is the busiest day of the whole year for his Main Street bar and restaurant. 'The amount of people that come downtown, the amount of people that just want to hang out and enjoy the cars is astronomical,' said Steeves. 'It's my favourite event.' Steeves said tourism appears to be up summer in Moncton this summer and he's seeing more people from across Canada visit his bar and restaurant. 'Big time. We're seeing a lot more Quebecers that would typically go down to Maine or something, now are coming east to go to the beach and stuff like that,' said Steeves. 'We're seeing a lot more Canadians avoid America and travelling the Maritimes for sure.' Close to 2,000 vehicles have been registered for the five-day, volunteer-driven community event, which ends on Sunday. Bill Doherty Bill Doherty is the chair for the Atlantic Nationals in Moncton. 26th Park Fest brings families to downtown Iowa Park

IOWA PARK (KFDX/KJTL) — Park Avenue in Iowa Park is now clear, after being blocked for much of the day during the town's annual Park Fest. The yearly event has brought families to downtown's heart for 26 years. On one end of the street, there was a bustling car show, even bigger than last year, and a dedicated food area on the other. The whole festival area was filled with families. Local vendors were able to sell their goods, while non-profits could raise money for their causes. Some booths were even set up to support Iowa Park youth sports teams, which Chamber of Commerce Vice President Shelby Womack said further deepens the ties between Iowa Park and its athletics. 'It teaches their young kids a lot of responsibility of how to talk with folks in the public and, you know, how to create an income for their organization,' Womack said. 'So, we're excited that they have a lot of involvement within the Park Fest and Whoop-T-Do events we put on.' The Iowa Park Chamber of Commerce said they usually sit at around 80 to 90 vendors for Park Fest. In the future, though, the chamber hopes to grow the event past Park Avenue with over 100 vendors and an even bigger car show. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
