100% rated "truly unsettling" series has just been added to new streaming home in the UK
Channel Zero, the "truly unsettling" perfectly rated series, has found a new streaming home in the UK. The horror anthology series, which originally aired on Syfy, ran for four acclaimed seasons between 2016 and 2018, with storylines being based on various creepypastas and urban legends discovered on the internet. Seven years on from its cancellation, Channel Zero is now available to stream on Prime Video, with all four seasons – subtitled Candle Cove, No-End House, Butcher's Block and The Dream Door respectively – being added onto the streaming service over the weekend. In our review of the series, we noted that Channel Zero was "truly unsettling" and made for "creepy viewing", adding that the series constantly delivered images that "haunt you long after the season is over". Created by Nick Antosca, Channel Zero received acclaim throughout its run, with No-End House and Butcher's Block boasting perfect approval ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. Candle Cove and The Dream Door were similarly praised, scoring 86% and 88% respectively. Related: In Rotten Tomatoes' summation of Candle Cove, they called the series a "creepy, unsettling, and refreshingly unique" take on the genre, noting that the "easily relatable childhood fears" and "spine-tingling mystery" made for captivating viewing. In their review of No-End House, Screen Rant described the season as "stronger and scarier" than its predecessor, while Den of Geek remarked that it was a "perfect character study" which touched on "loss, guilt and denial". Butcher's Block, generally considered to be the best instalment of the series, was lauded by AV Club for its "hallucinatory imagery" and "dreamlike fables", while Collider shared that the series would "leave your skin damp with panic and crawling with disgust". Related: The Dream Door, whilst less acclaimed than its two predecessors, was still praised for its increasing sense of "claustrophobia" by Thrillist, while CinemaBlend noted its "uniquely complicated family drama". With each season consisting of six episodes, the various cast members across the show's history included Fiona Shaw, Jeff Ward, John Carroll Lynch, Rutger Hauer, Holland Roden and Barbara Crampton. Channel Zero seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Prime Video. Digital Spy's first print magazine is here!
