100% rated "truly unsettling" series has just been added to new streaming home in the UK
The horror anthology series, which originally aired on Syfy, ran for four acclaimed seasons between 2016 and 2018, with storylines being based on various creepypastas and urban legends discovered on the internet.
Seven years on from its cancellation, Channel Zero is now available to stream on Prime Video, with all four seasons – subtitled Candle Cove, No-End House, Butcher's Block and The Dream Door respectively – being added onto the streaming service over the weekend.
In our review of the series, we noted that Channel Zero was "truly unsettling" and made for "creepy viewing", adding that the series constantly delivered images that "haunt you long after the season is over".
Created by Nick Antosca, Channel Zero received acclaim throughout its run, with No-End House and Butcher's Block boasting perfect approval ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. Candle Cove and The Dream Door were similarly praised, scoring 86% and 88% respectively.
Related:
In Rotten Tomatoes' summation of Candle Cove, they called the series a "creepy, unsettling, and refreshingly unique" take on the genre, noting that the "easily relatable childhood fears" and "spine-tingling mystery" made for captivating viewing.
In their review of No-End House, Screen Rant described the season as "stronger and scarier" than its predecessor, while Den of Geek remarked that it was a "perfect character study" which touched on "loss, guilt and denial".
Butcher's Block, generally considered to be the best instalment of the series, was lauded by AV Club for its "hallucinatory imagery" and "dreamlike fables", while Collider shared that the series would "leave your skin damp with panic and crawling with disgust".
Related:
The Dream Door, whilst less acclaimed than its two predecessors, was still praised for its increasing sense of "claustrophobia" by Thrillist, while CinemaBlend noted its "uniquely complicated family drama".
With each season consisting of six episodes, the various cast members across the show's history included Fiona Shaw, Jeff Ward, John Carroll Lynch, Rutger Hauer, Holland Roden and Barbara Crampton.
Channel Zero seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Prime Video.

Are cheap TVs any good? I bought a budget TV from Amazon that's currently on sale for under $300 — the value is unbeatable
This "unbeatable" budget TV is on sale for $280 right now. I was recently in the market for a new smart TV and given that I've never actually been in charge of selecting a device on my own, I was pretty stumped. All I knew was that I didn't want to spend a fortune and that the TV needed to have the ability to stream apps like Disney+, Prime Video, Netflix and other favourites. Other than that, I wanted something that was fairly light and with decent visuals After doing some research, I settled on a relatively inexpensive TCL Smart TV from Amazon Canada that seemed to fit all my criteria. However, given that it's regularly only $350 — and currently on sale for $280 — I was skeptical about whether it would actually be decent quality. I've been using it for a few months now, and I'm happy to report that I shouldn't have been skeptical — this cost-effective TV is fantastic and has seriously improved our leisure time. Scroll onwards to read my full review of the TCL 43-Inch Class S4 4K LED Smart TV and see if it's the right fit for your home. Amazon deal: Save $70 on a TCL 43-Inch Class S4 4K LED Smart TV The details The TV has 4K Ultra HD Resolution, Motion Rate 120 and HDR PRO that provides exceptional visual detail, improved motion clarity and enhanced contrast. It also has Dolby Atmos which provides an immersive, cinematic audio experience. For streaming, it has Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Spotify and dozens of other popular services as well as the ability to search and download less popular apps. It has three HDMI inputs for gaming and other needs, and has Alexa technology that let's you hold down the voice button and ask her to find and launch content. In terms of appearance, the TV has an edge-to-edge glass design that would look perfect in any setting. What I like about it The interface: As mentioned, I'm not very tech-savvy, so I anticipated that I'd struggle — but I truly had no issues. It's extremely user-friendly to find what your looking for and to start watching right way. It also has voice control technology, so you can ask it to launch programs for you when you don't feel like typing. The interface is also customizable and you can change the audio-visual options tor the different streaming apps. Streaming options: The TV comes loaded with all of the most popular apps like Netflix, YouTube and more — and you can search and download more niche apps. For instance, my partner downloaded the Kanopy app so he can watch library-sourced documentaries and Armenian animations. As well, we found it easy to stream from our phones and laptops and cast it to the TV. The visuals: One of the first things we did was watch The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and the difference in visual quality between the TCL and our old TV was immediately noticeable. A few quotes from my fiancé: "Shit, that's crisp!" "I'm getting lost in Elijah Woods's blue eyes." "There's even enough brightness settings to make The Rings of Power watchable." The set up: From taking the TV out of the box to getting it mounted on our wall and watching Netflix, the entire process took maybe 10 minutes. It likely would have taken us less than that but it took us a a bit to figure out how to attach it to our wall mount (entirely our own fault, not a negative to the TV at all). The weight: I was genuinely shocked at how light this TV is! Our old, non-smart TV weighs about 30 pounds. The TCL weighs under five pounds, which made it extremely easy to carry up the stairs to our apartment and subsequently hang on the mount we already owned. Not for you? 5 other TV deals on Amazon What I dislike about it The size: The only thing I dislike about this TV is the size, and that's entirely my own fault for choosing a 43" instead of a 50." When doing the measurements, I made the error of measuring the width of the wall we would mount it on. From that I surmised I needed a 43" TV, but the way TVs are measured is across the diagonal. Because of my error, the television is a little too small for the area we have it in, but it's not the worst problem to have! What others are saying The TV has a 4.0-star rating on Amazon Canada and has been bought more than 300 times in the last month. "The best budget TV I've ever owned," says one customer. "I would recommend it all day." Another notes that they're "impressed with what this TV offers," particularly "at such an affordable price point." Others write that "the colours are rich and vibrant," it's "very easy to set up" and offers "unbeatable value." However, a few people say "the sound isn't the best" — I would agree that it's not exactly cinematic or comparable to what you'd get out of a sound bar, but the sound quality is not a concern at all for me. The verdict I am extremely pleased with the TCL 43-Inch Class S4 4K LED Smart TV, and would 100 per cent recommend buying it. In fact, I'm likely going to repurchase this TV in a bigger size when it's on sale. I've been using it for a few months now and I'm impressed with the quality of this device, its weight and how easy it is to set up — and at just $280, it doesn't break the bank, which is always a bonus. If you're on the hunt for an affordable TV that gives excellent performance, I'd definitely check it out.

BBC Radio Scotland's Bryan Burnett to return to airwaves after cancer treatment
BBC Radio Scotland presenter Bryan Burnett will return to the airwaves on Thursday after undergoing cancer treatment. The broadcaster announced in June he would step back from his programme Get It On to receive care for appendix cancer. Fellow presenter Grant Stott, who stepped in during his absence, announced his return to listeners on Tuesday night. He said: 'In what must have been a terrible time for Bryan and his family and close friends, I'm just delighted I was able to help by looking after something that is very precious to Bryan; Get It On and his listeners. 'Getting to do the show over this time has shown me just how close the audience is to Bryan and vice versa. 'I know they will be delighted to get their radio teatime pal back.' Burnett said his treatment had been successful and thanked those who had wished him well throughout his recovery. Commenting on his return, he said: 'I am delighted to be returning to work following successful treatment for appendix cancer. 'Over the past few months I have been focused on my recovery and have been supported by an incredible medical team, my family and friends, and the overwhelming kindness of so many BBC Radio Scotland listeners who have reached out with encouragement and well-wishes. 'Their messages, cards and kindness have meant so much. 'My team at the BBC have also been a huge support and I want to thank Grant Stott, who has been sitting in for me and done such a great job looking after the show. 'My return to work will be gradual to ensure I maintain my health and energy. Cancer has given me a renewed perspective on what matters most and I am excited about the road ahead and grateful for the opportunity to return to doing what I'm passionate about.' Hayley Valentine, director BBC Scotland, said: 'Like the Get it On listeners, everyone at BBC Scotland is delighted to be welcoming Bryan back to the studio following what has been a tough couple of months for him. We look forward to seeing and hearing him back where he belongs.' Stott will share Get it On presenting duties with Bryan during his phased return. Burnett's first Get it On show will be Thursday 14 August 14 6pm to 8pm.

You need to see these 'Reacher' season 4 set photos — Alan Ritchson's new love interest revealed
"Reacher" is undeniably one of the biggest hits for Prime Video. The first three seasons have been critically and commercially successful for the streaming service — I loved season 3 when I reviewed it here at Tom's Guide — and it wasn't surprising when the show was officially renewed for season 4. Now, with production in full swing, we've gotten a first look at a major cast member. Via @rikiwichman, a fan account on Instagram, we finally got a first look at Sydelle Noel, who has joined the "Reacher" season 4 cast as Tamara Green. They initially posted the announcement back on June 18 when Noel was officially added to the cast, but revised the post yesterday (Aug. 11), complete with new set photos of Noel as Green (via Getty Images). A post shared by Riki Wichman (@rikiwichman) A photo posted by on The set photos of Sydelle smartly dressed in a professional yet functional outfit don't reveal much about her character, but her character's name reveals everything. That's because Tamara Green was originally Theresa Lee, and that means she's Alan Ritchson's love interest for season 4. For those less familiar with "Reacher," they're based on the "Jack Reacher" novel series by Lee Child, and that means if we know what book a season is based on, then we know a decent amount about what to expect from a given season. We know season 4 is based on the novel "Gone Tomorrow," thanks to an Alan Ritchson post on Instagram a few months ago. And in that installment of the series, Jack Reacher's love interest is none other than NYPD detective Theresa Lee. A post shared by Alan Ritchson (@alanritchson) A photo posted by on That makes this first look a pretty major one for "Reacher" season 4, as past love interests — Roscoe Conklin (Willa Fitzgerald), Serinda Swan (Karla Dixon) and Susan Duffy (Sonya Cassidy) — all played major roles in their given seasons, arguably costarring alongside Ritchson. So definitely don't expect this to be the last you see of Tamara Green between now and the "Reacher" season 4 release on Prime Video. So far, we know that "Reacher" season 4 will bring back Alan Ritchson as the titular, mammoth Jack Reacher, a former U.S. Army military police major whose skills allow him to solve any case and kick any butt. We also know that season 4 will be adapting "Gone Tomorrow," which has Reacher drawn into a deadly game against dangerous people after a fraught, chance encounter with a stranger on a train. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. 30-day free trial for Amazon Prime! Why pay for Prime Video when it's included with Amazon Prime? Try it free for 30 days. Aside from that, we know to expect some new faces this season, as "Reacher" largely resets its cast each season. Only Ritchson as Reacher and Maria Sten as Frances Neagley have appeared in all three seasons to date. Of course, we know Noel will be a major part of the season 4 cast as Reacher's love interest, Green, but we also know a few other cast members joining this season. Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette is playing Jacob Merrick, a small-town police officer with a big role in season 4. Jay Baruchel was originally cast as Merrick but had to leave for personal reasons. Rodriguez-Marquette, Ritchson and Noel are joined by Agnez Mo and Anggun as Lila and Amisha Hoth, who we are expecting to be the villains this season. Kevin Corrigan is playing Green's partner, NYPD Detective Docherty, Marc Blucas is politician John Samson and Kathleen Robertson is his wife, Elsbeth. Kevin Weisman is also on board as Russell Plum, the lone character that, as far as we can tell, isn't in the novel "Gone Tomorrow." The big question that remains? Will Sten return for a fourth season as Neagley? I hope so, but there's nothing official yet. She might be too busy with her "Reacher" spin-off, "Neagley," which is currently in production. Malcolm has been with Tom's Guide since 2022 and has been covering the latest in streaming shows and movies since 2023. He's not one to shy away from a hot take, including that "John Wick" is one of the four greatest films ever made. Here's what he's been watching lately:
