Woman nabbed for intimidating, sharing nude photos of hubby and 2nd wife

Melaka Tengah police chief Christopher Patit confirmed the arrest of the woman. (Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : Police have arrested a woman in a polyamorous marriage who allegedly threatened and shared nude photos of her husband's second wife. According to Berita Harian, the Melaka magistrates' court allowed the police to remand the suspect for four days to assist in their investigation. The woman's lawyer, Sheikh Ikhzan Sheikh Salleh, had opposed the remand order, arguing that this was merely a domestic case. The case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, and Section 509 for outraging a person's modesty. A source said the 53-year-old woman was arrested at KLIA last night after returning from a holiday in Austria. She was wanted by police after the second wife – a 47-year-old teacher in Selangor – lodged a police report. The source said the victim was informed by her father that the suspect – a mother of four – had sent him photos of her (the second wife) and her husband in the nude. 'Fearing that the nude photos would be spread and having been harassed by the suspect, the complainant filed a police report on March 27,' the source said. Melaka Tengah police chief Christopher Patit confirmed the arrest, but declined to disclose details of the case.

Ampang temple vandal sentenced to 5 years in prison

Sufpriyanndi Masyhuri was charged at the Ampang sessions and magistrates' courts with carrying weapons, defiling a place of worship and criminal intimidation. (Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : An unemployed man who vandalised a Hindu temple in Kampung Tasek Ampang and threatened to behead a temple committee member was sentenced to five years in prison. Sufpriyanndi Masyhuri, 33, pleaded guilty to three charges at the Ampang sessions and magistrates' courts. At the sessions court, he was charged with entering the Dewi Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple at around 6am on May 19 armed with a hammer, steel cutter, two parangs and a keris. A temple committee member who was monitoring the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from his home saw the accused vandalising a deity's trident. The committee member rushed to the scene, where Sufpriyanndi allegedly pointed a parang at him and threatened to behead him. The charge was framed under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958, which relates to the carrying of weapons. Judge Nurulizwan Ahmad Zubir sentenced him to five years in jail and ordered him to be given one stroke of the cane. In the magistrates' court, Sufpriyanndi also pleaded guilty to damaging the temple at the same time and location. He was accused of committing the act with the intention and knowledge that members of the Hindu community might regard the damage as an insult to their religion. The charge was framed under Section 295 of the Penal Code, which relates to defiling a place of worship with intent to insult religion. Magistrate Normaizan Rahim sentenced him to seven months' imprisonment for the offence. In a separate magistrates' court, magistrate Amalina Basirah Top sentenced Sufpriyanndi to five months in jail after he admitted to criminally intimidating M Mohana Thas, 34, by threatening to behead him. The charge was framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation. All sentences are to run concurrently.

Father of five fined RM6,000 for threatening DBKL officer over balloon vendor incident

KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 — A father of five was fined RM6,000, in default five months' jail, by the Magistrates' Court today after pleading guilty to threatening a Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcement officer over the balloon vendor incident in late March. While meting out the sentence on 57-year-old clothing trader Mustafa Sulaiman, Magistrate Farah Nabihah Muhamad Dan stressed that public interest must prevail, noting the accused's remarks were akin to 'pouring fuel on fire'. 'The court hopes this sentence will serve as a lesson to the accused. For the first charge, he is fined RM2,000 or two months' jail in default; for the second, RM4,000 or three months in default,' she said. Mustafa was charged with making a statement with the intent to incite others to commit an offence against DBKL officer Mohammad Shahli Zaini Mohd Zulkepli, 32. The charge under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code carries a maximum sentence of two years' imprisonment, a fine, or both. He was also charged with criminal intimidation for sending a WhatsApp message to the same victim, threatening to cause death or injury, under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years' imprisonment, or a fine, or both. Both offences were committed at the DBKL Enforcement Tower, Jalan Yaacob Latif, Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras, at 10.30 am on April 7. Mustafa's lawyer, Dzafir Firdaus Ahmad Zubairy, pleaded for a minimal fine, citing that his client is the sole breadwinner for his wife, five children, and mother-in-law. 'This is his first offence, and he has no prior criminal record. The statement was made in a WhatsApp group and did not amount to incitement,' he submitted. Deputy public prosecutor Amritpreet Kaur Randhawa, however, pressed for a deterrent sentence, arguing that the WhatsApp screenshot clearly contained threats, incitement and elements of intimidation directed at a DBKL enforcement officer in the course of his official duties. 'The accused acted with malicious intent to undermine the reputation of the Mayor and to incite harm against DBKL enforcement personnel,' she added. — Bernama
