Driver registers 2 times over legal alcohol limit after single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 416 in Ottawa
Ontario Provincial Police say officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 416 near Hunt Club Road Sunday morning. Police say a roadside screening device was utilized and the driver was brought to the Ottawa detachment for a breath test. (OPP/X) A Prescott, Ont. man is facing impaired driving charges after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 416 in Ottawa. Emergency crews responded to reports of a vehicle that rolled over on Hwy. 416 near Hunt Club Road shortly before 1 a.m. on Sunday. Ontario Provincial Police say officers at the scene suspected the driver had been consuming alcohol. 'A roadside screening device was utilized and the driver was brought back to detachment for a breath test,' OPP Const. Michael Fathi said. 'The driver registered more than twice the legal limit.' The driver is facing charges of dangerous operation of a vehicle, operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). Fathi says the driver had his licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Early morning crash leads to impaired driving charges
An early morning crash in Tiny Township has lead to impaired driving charges. According to Southern Georgian Bay OPP, officers responded to a report of a black pick up truck that crashed into a pole around the area of Champlain road near Tiny Concession Road 16. Officers conducted an impaired driving investigation and as a result a 45-year-old man from Tiny Township faces charges including: Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs Dangerous operation Fail to Remain Fail to have currently validated plates The accused was released from custody with a future court date and his licence was also suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Man charged for driving impaired, street racing on Hwy. 417 in Ottawa
An Ottawa driver was charged with multiple offences after losing control of his vehicle on Highway 417 over the weekend. (OPP/X) Ontario Provincial Police laid multiple charges against a 28-year-old man for allegedly racing and driving impaired on Highway 417 in Ottawa over the weekend. Police say officers were called about a crash on the highway near Innes Road shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses told police they had seen the driver racing another vehicle when he lost control of his car from failing to make the curve at the Highway 174 and 417 split, OPP said in a news release Monday. The driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries. Police say he had been allegedly consuming alcohol and registered more than twice the legal drinking limit. Officers allegedly also found alcohol and cannabis inside the vehicle. The man was arrested on two charges related to impaired driving, dangerous operation, racing and failing to properly wear a seatbelt. He had his driver's licence suspended for 90-days and received an automatic 30-day driving suspension. He is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa at a later date.

Ont. man charged after videos circulate on social media showcasing reckless driving: OPP
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) laid multiple charges against a 23-year-old man after a string of videos showcasing reckless driving surfaced on social media. OPP officers with Dufferin, Bracebridge and Orillia detachments were alerted to the videos by a concerned citizen on Tuesday night. Police say the videos depicted excessive speeding, improper tires on the vehicle, and raised concerns about potential impairment. Officers hit the roads patrolling local highways for the suspect vehicle, which they say was spotted traveling north on Highway 11 through Severn Township at speeds topping 150 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone. A traffic stop was conducted on Southwood Road in the Gravenhurst area, and the driver was taken into custody. The accused, a Gravenhurst man, faces a slew of charges, including impaired driving, dangerous operation, stunt driving, and driving with an open container of liquor, among others related to modifications to the vehicle. He is has since been handed a 90-day licence suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment, along with a day in court.

Man charged after allegedly attempting to ‘ram' police cruiser in Cayuga, Ont.
A 65-year-old man is facing multiple charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say he tried to ram a police cruiser in Cayuga early Wednesday. Police said the Haldimand OPP took a driver into custody after he allegedly tried to intentionally drive into a police vehicle. The officer was able to evade the crash in time. No one was hurt. A 65-year-old man from Caledonia was charged with dangerous operation and failure to comply with a release order, other than to attend court.
