Japan man sells Ferrari to fund shelter for ‘taxing' dogs, repay pet that saved his life
A 54-year-old man in Japan closed his company and sold his luxury sports car to help fund a shelter for 'problematic dogs' after his own pet saved him when he tried to commit suicide. The Wansfree canine rescue centre in Yaizu, Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan, offers its services for free. It cares for difficult dogs that animal-lovers find impossible to deal with, The Asahi newspaper reported. The animals it shelters usually bite indiscriminately and bark and snarl at everyone. Their fierce tempers are usually the result of abuse, said the head of Wansfree, Hirotaka Saito. Hirotaka Saito's special facility is home to 40 difficult to deal with dogs and eight cats. Photo: Previously, Saito owned a company, but his life took a traumatic turn about 12 years ago when the enterprise got into financial difficulties.

Baxter Springs breaks ground on adoption center project
BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. — Something new coming to Baxter Springs is celebrated. Ground was broken Wednesday morning on the land that will eventually house the Ronald O. Thomas Animal Adoption Center. It's located in the 200-block of W 3rd Street. Donor dollars are making all of it possible and officials said it's actually been a flawless process. Along with the Thomas Foundation money is also coming from the Ross Hartley Family Foundation and the Dean and Beth Auman family. This project has been in the works for the past two years. 'There was a definite need. Our current facility only houses about 4 dogs, and this is going to multiply that probably 10 times over, so,' said Sheldon Bales, Baxter Springs Director of Public Works. 'There's so many people dumping off dogs these days. It's — and we can't keep up right now. So this is really a great thing for this town,' said Harold Lee Simpson, Baxter Springs Animal Control Officer. 'We have a lot of good things going here in Baxter. You hear a few negative things, but we've got 99 good things going and maybe one bad thing, and that's what you hear — but we've got a lot of good stuff going on here,' said Kelly Abbott, Baxter Springs Mayor. The couple are launching the Peltz Beckham Foundation, which aims to rescue and shelter homeless dogs in Los Angeles. 5 5 The new venture is set to further distance Brooklyn, 26, from his family amid an ongoing rift as the project will keep him in the US with actress Nicola, 30. They have filed paperwork in California to register the non-profit under both their names. The news comes after the toxic fallout with his family — which Nicola is accused of causing — was laid bare during the festivities for dad David's milestone birthday. Despite being in the UK with Nicola last week, Brooklyn failed to attend any of the three major events thrown for the former England captain. He also was not on a fishing trip in Scotland that Becks took with his other sons Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20. Offering an olive branch to his eldest son when sharing photos and videos online, David wrote: 'You were missed @brooklynpeltzbeckham.' However, Brooklyn has not acknowledged the fallout publicly and did not reply to the post on social media. He had earlier failed to send any public birthday greeting to his dad online — and also missed acknowledging mum Victoria's 51st last month. His siblings did make the effort on both occasions. It has been claimed that the family feud — which has seen almost all contact between the Beckhams and Brooklyn and his wife severed — had been down to Nicola, who he had married in 2022. The love it brings to your family is like nothing else.'
