Disney fan, 58, who SOBBED at seeing Mickey Mouse opens up about emotional moment: 'I forgot I was an adult'

Meeting their dream character at Disney World can certainly be exciting and even overwhelming for young kids, and it's completely normal for them to get emotional in the moment. But what about adults? One 58-year-old woman recently sparked a conversation about the topic after she broke down in tears while chatting with Mickey Mouse at the beloved theme park. Tracy M Sommer, from Mohawk, New York, was visiting the Happiest Place on Earth with daughter Savannah when they decided to get in line for the Minnie and Mickey meet and greet. As a long time Disney fan she knew the moment would be special, but never expected to get emotional. She told the Daily Mail that as she was waiting for her turn she began remembering her first family vacation to Disney with her own parents decades prior, when she was only 10 years old, and started missing them intensely. Memories of her and her daughters watching Disney movies together when they were younger also came flooding back to her. Upon walking into the room and seeing the characters, she became 'overwhelmed with emotions' and started shedding 'happy tears.' 'When I met Mickey I knew he was not real but for those few minutes every good and painful memory left and I said, 'Thank you Mickey I finally got to meet you,' and I cried,' she said of the moment to the Daily Mail. 'Mickey and Minnie were so comforting with their hugs and gestures. I got caught up in the moment and forgot I was an adult. It was a special healing moment for me.' Afterwards, Savannah took a short video of Tracy reflecting on the moment while on the phone with her husband, John, and uploaded it to her Instagram, where it went viral. 'The magic of Disney at every age. So thankful I got to experience this moment with my momma! Makes me cry still. Thank you @disneyparks,' she captioned it. 'Smiling because moments like this remind me that it's my mom's first time living too,' she added in a text overlay on the video. 'I feel blessed to be a part of it.' In the clip, a clearly emotional Tracy could be heard talking on the phone to her husband. 'I finally met Mickey,' she said between sobs, as he responded, 'Are you crying?' 'A little bit, I know it's stupid that I'm crying, and I'm 58 years old,' Tracy added as she wiped away tears. 'It's not stupid,' Savannah interjected. 'That's the magic of Disney at every age.' Tracy told the Daily Mail that Disney was especially important to her family because her eldest daughter Kaylee became seriously ill as a child and watched a ton of Disney films while she was healing. 'We almost lost her. But Disney helped her heal,' she explained. The video got over 77,000 views and hundreds of Instagram users rushed to the comment section to share their thoughts. Most people were moved by the 'sweet' moment and praised Disney for spreading the magic for people of all ages. In response to those who may judge her emotional response, Tracy pointed out that all adults have 'an inner child.' 'I am sure that some people might think it's immature of me but I am humbled and blessed by the comments of so many who felt the same way,' she said. 'I truly feel every adult has an inner child... The world is a tough place and characters make people happy. Disney will always be special to me.'

Heartbreaking moment MasterChef Australia judges break down as contestant Laura Sharrad feels Jock Zonfrillo's 'spirit' on set

MasterChef Australia judge Andy Allen has become tearful during an emotional moment on Wednesday's episode of the Back To Win season. Contestant Laura Sharrad, who was good friends with late judge Jock Zonfrillo, had viewers and the cast alike in tears after presenting a seafood pasta dish. Laura became emotional as Andy, who was also deeply close to Jock, tasted the dish, with co-host Poh Ling Yeow realising that the pair were remembering their beloved mate, who died in 2023. 'I can feel this little electric current running from you to the dish to Andy. And it's Jock. I can really feel it,' Poh said. Upon making the statement, Poh watched as Andy and Laura became tearful, and Laura was handed a napkin to dab her eyes. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'I'm completely right, aren't I? I can actually feel it,' Poh said, referring to Jock's spirit. Both Laura and Andy quietly agreed that something special had happened on set, with the dish Laura created reminding them of Jock. 'This dish is so clever because it's such a demonstration of you working smarter, not harder,' Poh complimented Laura. Earlier this year, Andy shared a heartfelt tribute to his late co-star on the second anniversary of his death. The celebrity chef, 37, who co-hosted the popular Channel Ten cooking competition alongside Jock from 2020 - 2023, shared a throwback photo to social media of them together and captioned it with some bittersweet words. 'Two years since we lost the great man, Jock Zonfrillo. I miss him more than ever,' Andy wrote. The precious picture captured the pair beaming together as they proudly held up a string of sausages to the camera. Many of Andy's celebrity friends took to the comment section to share their support. Laura became emotional as Andy, who was also deeply close to Jock, tasted the dish, with co-host Poh Ling Yeow realising that the pair were remembering their beloved mate Jock's widow Lauren posted a love heart emoji, as did celebrity chef Darren Robertson. Beloved celebrity chef Jock was tragically found dead in a hotel in Carlton, near Melbourne's CBD, on April 30, 2023 - which was also Andy's 35th birthday. Andy previously revealed the death of his close friend and co-star was the 'hardest time' of his life. Last year, he opened up about losing Jock and told how it was 'really difficult' grieving in the public eye. The TV personality candidly revealed it was the first time he had dealt with such a personal tragedy. 'It was the hardest time of my life, I had never had tragedy like that hit me so close, it was very uncharted waters and multiply that by it being in the public eye; it was really difficult,' he told the Herald Sun. Andy said he didn't give himself a chance to grieve because he wanted to be there for Jock's family - his wife Lauren and their kids Alfie, eight, and Isla, four, as well as his adult daughters Ava and Sophia from past relationships. He detailed his heavy emotional toll and told how he spent a 'full day crying' after travelling to Sicily to mark Jock's birthday. 'I spent a full day just crying, in a couple of hour-long increments, just having a good old cry, then I would be quiet... then I would go again,' he shared. Andy said his grief only really hit him twice while shooting the latest series of MasterChef, which was also his first without his close friend Jock. Andy previously admitted he almost didn't appear on the 2024 season of the cooking contest, but is 'so glad' he decided to push through the grief. 'It was tough. I didn't know if I was going to do it. I'm so glad that I did, but it was hard,' he told The Project. Network 10 dedicated the fifteenth season to Jock and his family as they aired his scenes posthumously, acknowledging his 'sudden and tragic passing'. At the time, his wife Lauren was in Italy with their two children and had phoned Victoria Police to request a welfare check because he stopped answering her calls. Jock's death came just one day before the 2023 season of MasterChef was due to premiere, and it was delayed in arriving on air for a week 'out of respect'.

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte Reveals Fan Who Brought Him to Tears Shouted He Messaged His Late Mother

Ketel Marte, the Arizona Diamondbacks' second baseman, said a fan in Chicago who brought him to tears during a game against the White Sox this week shouted that he messaged his late mother the previous night. The two-time All-Star revealed what was said during an interview with Spanish-language journalist Yancen Pujols. 'A fan was up on the dugout shouting things about my mother,' he said. 'He was like, 'Last night I sent a message to your mother.'' Marte was seen in tears on the field after the 22-year-old spectator yelled a derogatory comment about Marte's late mother during a seventh-inning at-bat in Arizona's 4–1 win over Chicago on Tuesday night. Major League Baseball banned the fan indefinitely from all stadiums the following day. Marte's mother, Elpidia Valdez, died in a car accident in the Dominican Republic in 2017. He said he's used to being taunted but had never been heckled about his mom. 'We have to do something about the fans; they're going too far,' he said. 'They always shout things about me, but not about my mother. Everyone knows that my mother died in an accident.' 'And nothing. We're praying for him, for the guy who shouted and for his family, you know? May God protect him. May God protect him and cleanse his heart. They always shout things at me, but I don't pay attention, but when they talk about my mother it's a different story.'

Grandmother Left in Tears After Bride Makes Surprising Move at Rehearsal Dinner (Exclusive)

A 25-year-old bride surprised her family by wearing her mother's wedding dress to her rehearsal dinner Olivia Turi captured her grandmother's reaction to the dress, which went viral on TikTok Turi tells PEOPLE that it "was such a powerful moment for all of us"When one bride-to-be stepped out at her rehearsal dinner, she wasn't wearing just any dress, but a piece of family history. Choosing to surprise her grandmother, Olivia Turi donned a slightly altered version of her mother's original wedding gown, preserving its most delicate details. The emotional reveal in front of St. Vincent Ferrer Church in New York City left her grandmother stunned and deeply touched. 'My grandmother recognized it instantly,' Turi, 25, tells PEOPLE exclusively. 'She was completely blown away and hasn't stopped crying since. It was such a powerful moment for all of us.' Her grandmother stood in stunned silence on the church steps, momentarily overcome with emotion. As she took in her granddaughter's beauty, tears filled her eyes, moved by the sight of the beloved dress that held decades of cherished memories. Turi's mother got married in July 1996, at Russo's on the Bay in Queens, N.Y. Nearly 30 years later, her dress was brought back to life after a thoughtful reconstruction by Lauren Holovka at Le Laurier Bridal. Rather than hemming the dress, Holovka designed a structured bustle that maintained its original silhouette while giving it some flair. The transformation left both Turi's grandmother and mother in awe. '[Our mother] was emotional in all the best ways,' Turi's younger sister, Gabrielle Martinelli, reveals. 'It had always been her dream that one of us would wear her gown, so seeing Olivia in it brought everything full circle.' The New Jersey native plans to carry the tradition forward, passing it down to Martinelli and, eventually, down to her future children. 'It's officially a generational heirloom now,' Martinelli says. Turi tied the knot on May 17, 2025, at The Pierre, A Taj Hotel in N.Y.C. Although she wore two different dresses on her wedding day, she was grateful to have had the opportunity to incorporate her mother's dress into her special moments. Wearing the cherished family gown, even briefly, created a powerful memory across three generations. Read the original article on People
