Cunha tipped to replace 'disappointing' Man Utd star and make huge impact
Matheus Cunha is edging towards a £62.5million switch to Manchester United with his imminent arrival lauded - but Mason Mount's role has been questioned as a result Manchester United have been told that Matheus Cunha is "exactly what they need" as a £62.5million move from Wolves edges ever closer. The Brazilian already has an agreement in place with the Red Devils as the financials are thrashed out. Cunha has been a leading light at Molineux, helping steer them clear of a relegation scrap. The forward was crucial to their upturn in form throughout 2025 but is now set to be the first signing of Ruben Amorim 's summer rebuild. The Wolves star is set to compliment the 3-4-3 system that is being implemented in Manchester with ex-Red Devil Louis Saha insisting he has all the traits and the temperament to succeed at one of the world's biggest clubs. Liverpool boss Arne Slot previously claimed Cunha was more than capable of playing for one of the Premier League's top sides and, after a 15-goal season, Saha believes he will be a shrewd addition. He told 10bet : "Matheus Cunha is exactly what United need. He's got speed and stamina. He's unpredictable and he's powerful. He's got legs, he's got skills, he's got the right attitude. "He works hard but he's also creative. He gives the opponents a headache to try to solve the problems he poses. He can be decisive and he can cut it in the Premier League. He's already shown that he's good enough. Not only that, I think he can handle the pressure, and he is versatile enough to play in midfield or across the front line." Saha has hinted that Cunha could come in and replace Mason Mount, who has struggled for form and fitness throughout his time in Manchester. The ex-Chelsea man joined for a hefty fee but has been unable to have the desired impact and could lose out. "That's the kind of player that United need," said Saha. "When you look at Mason Mount, who has been unlucky with injury, but he doesn't exploit the space like Cunha does. Mount finds space, but he's not dangerous in the pockets when he finds them. It's disappointing from such a big signing." United are set for an overhaul after a dire season. They're without Europe next year but have acted quick in the market and, alongside Cunha, are making moves to land Liam Delap from Ipswich amid competition from Chelsea.

Scott McTominay's 15-word statement shows huge problem Man Utd have
Former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has proven the grass can be greener with his move to Napoli, and the now-talismanic figure's comments should worry the Red Devils faithful Scott McTominay's statement concerning the "sacrifice" every Napoli player made on route to their stunning Scudetto triumph shines a light on the ongoing problems at Manchester United. Eyebrows were raised when academy graduate McTominay was sold for roughly £25million last summer, much to the frustration of then-Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag. Yet, few could have predicted the impact the Scotland international would have in Serie A. The 28-year-old's 12 goals and six assists, as well as his decisive play, have seen him become a talismanic figure through the centre for Antonio Conte's side. He topped off an already unbelievable campaign with an acrobatic strike to open the scoring in a 2-0 win at home to Cagliari that sealed them an unlikely league title in their final game. In the wake of this success, the ex-Red Devil and Serie A MVP spoke about what made his winning cohort special. His revelation about the fight and sacrifice made by each player is a far cry from anything shown by those who currently figure under United head coach Ruben Amorim, and raises deep concerns over the disaster consuming Old Trafford. "The sacrifice that every single player in the group has put forward to the cause," McTominay highlighted post-match about his Napoli team. "I'm lost for words. It's incredible. "The people deserve it because they've been behind us from day one, and for me to come and experience this is a dream." Since the midfielder departed Old Trafford, Ten Hag has been shown the exit door, and Amorim has been installed as head coach. Yet, a change of fortunes has not arrived with the Portuguese. A record-breaking dreadful league campaign means that with a single match remaining, the highest the Red Devils can possibly finish is 14th, while they could also end up in 17th just above the relegation zone. They have won just 10 top-flight matches from 37 attempts this season. The Europa League final offered the squad a chance to redeem the dismal campaign, but a 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao on Wednesday sealed the club's fate and meant that there will be no European football at Old Trafford next season for the first time since 2014/15. Much has been made of Amorim's mediocre side and a lack of commitment and fight when faced with adversity, as they were in Bilbao, and McTominay's comments after he departed his boyhood club – only to immediately win a league title – indicate exactly what is missing in Manchester. Sacrifice in Naples earned a league title. A lack of such sacrifice under Amorim saw a European trophy slip away, and only a handful of league games have been won. McTominay's further likening the Scudetto-winning experience – alongside another former United man in Romelu Lukaku – to a "dream" is particularly indicative of just how far the 13-time Premier League winners have fallen. He also told BBC Scotland earlier in the campaign that, away from Old Trafford, the fans, coach, and cohort at Napoli provided him with an ideal opportunity, and one he'll be thankful he took up with the way things have developed under Amorim in his absence. "I saw the passionate fans, I saw the coach, I saw the players, and I saw an opportunity," admitted McTominay. "I took it, I didn't look back. It didn't take me long to make the decision because I knew that was what I wanted, and I'll never have any regrets in my life. "As soon as I put my mind to something, I want to do it, that's it. There's no holding me back. I love this place, I love the fans, I love my team-mates."

Ex-Manchester United star Mason Greenwood's career about to suffer another shocking setback
Ex-Manchester United star Mason Greenwood's career about to suffer another shocking setback Former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood is facing an uncertain future at Olympique de Marseille ahead of the summer transfer window. After a period of suspension at United, Greenwood slowly rediscovered his form at Getafe during the 2023/24 campaign. His impressive stint in LaLiga led to a big move to Marseille. Advertisement The Phocaeans agreed a deal worth over £26 million with United to secure his services on a permanent transfer before the start of the current campaign. The ex-Red Devil took little time to establish himself as the side's most important attacker under Roberto De Zerbi. In fact, only Ousmane Dembélé (21) has scored more goals than Greenwood (15) in Ligue 1 this term. However, the Englishman finds himself in hot water in the south of France due to his tricky relationship with De Zerbi. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Greenwood was involved in a heated exchange with the ex-Brighton and Hove Albion manager during a training session. Ex-Manchester United man Mason Greenwood handed Marseille ultimatum Now, a report from La Provence (via Get French Football News) claims that Greenwood has just two months between now and the end of the season to win back De Zerbi's trust or the 23-year-old could be kicked out of Marseille. Advertisement The versatile forward has received backlash from De Zerbi for his work ethic as well as his physical condition. The Italian even dropped his talisman to the bench in back-to-back outings against Lens and Paris Saint-Germain. Marseille lost both games. If things don't improve, a host of clubs could attempt to take advantage of the situation at Marseille as he has attracted plenty of interest with his goalscoring prowess. United would be interested in any possible movement as the Red Devils stand to make a huge profit on his sale as they included a 50 per cent sell-on clause before parting ways last summer. Advertisement However, it is suggested that Greenwood is determined to fight for his place in De Zerbi's squad as he returned to training early during the international break to get back into shape. The manager has reportedly admired the effort. Featured image Juan Manuel Serrano Arce via Getty Images Follow us on Bluesky: @
