Cardiff swoop to sign ex-Newtown rugby starlet Tom Williams
FORMER Newtown player Tom Williams has completed a dream move to Cardiff Rugby Club.
The Great Britain 7s international star from Montgomery signs ahead of the Super Rygbi Cymru season having previously represented Swansea and made 10 appearances for the Ospreys.
Williams is a former Wales U20s international and has competed at two Commonwealth Games and a host international sevens tournaments with Wales and Britain
Cardiff head coach Dan Fish said: 'I am really pleased to add Tom to the squad. A very exciting player to add to an already exciting squad.

'Tom will bring a wealth of experience to the squad from his time with the Ospreys and more recently GB 7s.
'His ability to play in multi positions is a big asset to the squad and we look forward to him showcasing his skills at the Arms Park.'
The 28-year-old has represented Great Britain in recent HSBC Sevens tournaments around the world including Los Angeles, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Williams added: 'Very exciting. I've lived in Cardiff for a while now and consider it my home, so I'm happy to be playing in Cardiff after a number of years playing 7s.
'I knew Gruff Rees from my early days at the Ospreys so we got in touch and went from there. I've been down the Arms Park for a few sessions now and enjoyed meeting some new faces and working with some new coaches.
'It's been refreshing to have young quality coaches and players involved. For the first time in my career I feel old in the a squad but I can't say too much on that with Jason Harries still knocking around.
The season gets underway on September 13 and the ex-Welshpool High School student cannot wait to get started.
'It looks to be a competitive league where a number of teams could win it. Hopefully we can go one better and win this year,' added Williams. 'What excites me most is being able to play down the Arms Park on a Saturday, have a few beers and then be able stroll back up the road home.'
