Sophie Cunningham fined $500 by WNBA for shading refs in TikTok
The post Sophie Cunningham fined $500 by WNBA for shading refs in TikTok appeared first on ClutchPoints. In recent weeks, Sophie Cunningham of the Indiana Fever has not let up in speaking her mind. First, she said that WNBA players won't be 'excited' about playing in expansion cities (such as Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia). That alone garnered a tremendous backlash. The next time around, she was levied with a $500 fine for criticizing WNBA referees on TikTok. On Wednesday, Cunningham took to her X page to essentially accept the fine and also call out the overlooking of other pertinent matters. 'I got fined $500 for this TikTok 🤣🤣 idk why this is funny to me… like ok 👍🏼 you got it bud! Cause there are no more important things to be worried about with our league right now.' Cunningham is likely citing the ongoing CBA negotiations between the players and the league. This battle intensified during last weekend's All-Star Game when the players came onto the floor wearing shirts that read 'Pay Us What You Owe Us.' Cunningham is averaging 7.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game this season. At the same time, she had a battle with an ankle injury at the start of the year. Meanwhile, the Fever are currently 12-12 as the second half of the season commences. Sophie Cunningham is the Fever's most outspoken talent In recent memory, Cunningham has established a reputation as one of the most outspoken personalities in the WNBA. Ever since she joined the Fever, he gift of gab has only grown. In doing so, she has become a fan favorite amongst the Fever fans. Furthermore, Cunningham has become one of the most ubiquitous WNBA players on social media with a massive following of 1.1 million followers on Instagram. Also, Cunningham is one of the players passionately advocating for increased pay and higher salaries for WNBA players. Asda fined £640,000 for selling out-of-date food
Asda has been fined £640,000 for selling out-of-date food at two of its stores in Wales. Trading Standards officers found 115 items, including some that were more than two weeks out of date, at Asda's Leckwith and Pentwyn stores in Cardiff. Asda faced four charges relating to the sale of out-of-date food items after food safety officers visited the stores on four occasions in 2024. A visit to the Leckwith store on January 17 of that year found 36 out of date items, including five tubs of spicy mayo dip seven days out of date. A visit to the Pentwyn store in the Cardiff Gate retail park on March 25 found 25 outdated items, while another visit to the store a month later found 48 items, including some that were 12 days out of date. A second visit to the Leckwith store on May 8 found a further six out of date items. Asda was given a fine of £640,000 and ordered to pay £15,115 in costs and a £2,000 surcharge. Asda said the prosecution related to food safety breaches that took place last year, when a different date code checking process was in use. An updated process that had been in place since November 24 involved daily manual checks on all short-life products and twice-weekly checks on every long-life product. An Asda spokesman said: 'We regret that out-of-date food was found on sale at two of our Cardiff stores last year and accept that our usual high standards were not upheld. 'Since then, we have introduced a new date code checking process across all our stores, whereby every short-life product is checked daily so that customers can always buy the freshest products.'

Emma Watson and the curse of the speeding fine: Harry Potter star caught driving 38mph in a 30 zone in the same Audi that was towed away by police after night out in the pub
Emma Watson has fallen foul of muggle speed limits after being caught driving at 38mph in a 30mph zone. The 35-year-old Harry Potter star now faces up to six points on her licence as well as a maximum £1,000 fine after she was captured by a speed camera on a restricted road in Oxford. Watson, who has reportedly been studying for a doctorate at Oxford University, was driving a £30,000 Audi S3 at the time, according to court records and national databases. Her sentence will be handed down at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court next Wednesday. It is not the first time Watson, who played Hermione Granger in the Potter film series, has found herself cursed with car trouble. In February last year her Audi was impounded by police after a night out in the Rose and Crown pub in Stratford-upon-Avon. The star, whose last film appearance was in 2019's Little Women, had apparently failed to spot a 'no parking' sign and left the Audi blocking a car park entrance. A vehicle belonging to a pizza restaurant manager was trapped inside for three-and-a-half hours. The manager – who had finished a 12-hour shift – trawled local restaurants in an effort to find the car's owner before calling the police to have it towed. As the blue Audi was being hauled on to a low loader, Watson came 'flying out' of the pub, where she had been enjoying an evening with her mother. Despite her appeals the car was taken, earning her a £192 fine. Watson became one of Hollywood's best paid actresses after appearing in all eight Harry Potter movies from 2001 to 2011. But she took the decision to step away from the spotlight following Little Women. At Oxford, she has been coxing the New College women's third rowing team and is said to be dating fellow student Kieran Brown, who just finished his doctorate at the university. They were spotted kissing at a Gail's Bakery in the city last year. Watson has also been at loggerheads with JK Rowling over the author's views on trans issues. The actress previously posted on X: 'Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren't who they say they are.'
