American golfer Patton Kizzire has withdrawn from the 2025 PGA Championship because of injury, it emerged on Friday morning. The 39-year-old, who is ranked No 141 in the world, shot a three-over-par 74 during Thursday's opening round. He then endured a nightmare start to his second round, hitting four bogeys and a double bogey in his first 10 holes, before pulling out.

Tory L. Gardner appeared in court in Skokie to face charges of aggravated battery to a senior citizen with great bodily harm and unlawful use of a weapon after he drove onto Bobby Caldwell Golf Course in the city's Forest Glen neighborhood Monday evening. Witnesses told CBS News Chicago they saw Gardner in his black SUV "weaving in between trees, flying down fairways, driving on greens." Gardner allegedly struck a 70-year-old golfer on the fifth hole, seriously injuring him. The victim, who has not yet been identified, and remains in the ICU. According to prosecutors, Gardner struck the victim because he was yelling at him. An employee trailed an SUV in another vehicle in attempt to stop the rampage, only for Gardner to get out of the vehicle, allegedly armed with a knife. Another player jumped in and tried to help. "This guy grabbed two stakes and he was swinging them, swinging them like nunchakus, at the guy. Then the dude with the knife kind of backed off," said Ed Waters, who was playing on the course and witnessed the entire event. Gardner was arrested by Forest Preserve police. Golfer injured, driver arrested when car crashes onto Billy Caldwell Golf Course on Chicago's Far Northwest Side

A 70-year-old golfer was injured when a driver crashed his car onto the Billy Caldwell Golf Course Monday evening in Chicago's Forest Glen neighborhood, police said. Cook County Forest Preserve Police who responded to the incident, said the car drove erratically onto the course around 5:30 p.m. The driver struck a golfer on the fifth whole. The victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston where he remains hospitalized in the intensive care unit Tuesday. The golf course is part of the Caldwell Woods forest preserve. Chicago police confirmed the incident and that Forest Preserve police were the responding officers. Video taken by other golfers on the course showed a large police presence both on the course itself and in the parking lot, with EMS response for the injured golfer. The driver was taken into custody and charges are pending, police said. Police did not give further details about what led to the car careening onto the course. The identity of the victim or further details about his condition have not yet been released.
