Kaizer Chiefs set to part ways with fan favourite

It's the end of the season for Kaizer Chiefs and they're set to make some big decision regarding their squad. Chiefs will finish yet another season outside the top eight, something that will call for a mass exodus. Although Chiefs managed to win the Nedbank Cup, their first trophy in 10-years, they won't play next season's MTN8. That will be the second time in a row that they miss out on the tournament and there will be consequences. One of those could be the parting of ways with coach Nasreddine Nabi and his whole technical staff. While that is still up for debate, what isn't is a player exodus. Not too long ago fan favourite George Matlou was rumoured to be at a crossroads with a contract renewal. The player re-endeared himself to the Chiefs faithful, after a good run in the cup run. But according to iDiski Times , that hasn't been enough to save his future at the club. The publication reports that he is soon to be rendered surplus to requirements. 'Kaizer Chiefs are set to part ways with midfielder George Matlou at the end of June. Matlou, 26, joined Chiefs in July 2022 from Moroka Swallows with the former Bidvest Wits youth development player signing a two-year contract with an option to extend for a further year. When his contract expired last season, Chiefs exercised the option which is now set to expire at the end of this coming June. Information gathered by iDiski Times states that Matlou will leave Chiefs at the end of next month (June), as Amakhosi have no plans in giving him a new contract at the club.' Wrote the publication. Matlou is set to form part of a larger group of players that will leave Chiefs this post season. It is thought the number will reach double figures. Amakhosi fans, is this the right decision from the club? Or is it only now that the 26-year-old really deserved to take some momentum into the next season? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab. Arthur Zwane says Orlando Pirates are a one-man team

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has singled out an Orlando Pirates player for special praise. Is it who you think it is, though? Arthur Zwane feels Orlando Pirates have relied heavily on the precious talents of 20-year-old Relebohile Mofokeng. 'I don't want to sound controversial. However, I think you look at Rele – I think he carried Orlando Pirates,' Zwane said via iDiski Times . 'But Rele as a youngster doing what he's done this past season, carrying a giant on his shoulder, I think it was something else, it was amazing. 'We need players like him, so others see him performing at this level. And now he's definitely going to go to the World Cup – I don't want people to say I'm picking him; I'm not the national coach. But looking at how coach Broos does, and he integrated into the senior national team,' Zwane added on the Orlando Pirates attacker. 'For him, it was a big jump because he never played for the U20, maybe the previous players, but because he's an exceptional talent. There is no doubt about he's gonna make AFCON and the World Cup. 'Also, the coaches must get some credit. All those coaches from the School of Excellence, Orlando Pirates, Jose [Riveiro], Duku Duku Makhanya. They spotted the talent and made life easy for the first team as well to get players promoted,' Zwane added. Orlando Pirates coach expecting awards

Orlando Pirates are set to complete the 2024/25 Premier Soccer League season with the MTN8 title and second place. Interim coach Mandla Ncikazi believes it was enough to collect a few gongs. According to the former Maritzburg United defender, Orlando Pirates supporters should expect at least three awards for players like Nkosinathi Sibisi, Deon Hotto and Tshegofatso Mabasa. [Nkosinathi] Sibisi has a big opportunity, [Deon] Hotto has a big opportunity. Tshego [Tshegofatso Mabasa] is chasing the leading goal scorer. 'There's still a possibility. Nothing is confirmed until the end,' the Orlando Pirates tactician said via iDiskiTimes . 'So, for me, there's so much to play for, the history. But on top of everything these are professionals. They are paid to play and train. 'There's no game that has got no impact especially if you play for a team like Orlando Pirates,' concluded Ncikazi. ‘Sundowns can bring back Rulani Mokwena'

Mamelodi Sundowns have marked a powerful impression on the legendary Junior Khanye. According to the ever-outspoken Khanye, Kabo Yellow, who lifted a record eighth league title in a row last weekend, can go on to win 12 titles on the bounce. 'For me, I guarantee 12 you can even write it down I guarantee 12 titles,' said Khanye via iDiski Times . Should the current Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso fail to deliver on his targets, Khanye believes Sundowns could easily re-appoint the great Rulani Mokwena. 'It's not easy to break the structure also because of the length of Miguel Cardoso's contract; I think it's three years, if I'm not mistaken. I can assure you that Rulani Mokoena, if he doesn't go to another team, he'll come back because I don't think they'll bring somebody who doesn't understand the club; that person won't last,' Khanye added. 'They don't have time [to waste] they've invested a lot in football. They won't wait for a coach to be escorted by a truck from the pitch. They only bring someone who adds value. They will give you games to prove yourself. 'Also, credit to the Director for bringing in former players that have done well in their careers the likes of Teko Modise, Tiyani Mabunda, Hlompho Kekana even Katlego Mahoota [Mashego] is also visible there and the list goes on. 'Their development is also strong and by development I'm referring to their U18 side that won the Engen Cup two years ago. If you see those players, you'll be shocked so yes, I'm saying 12 years because of their solid structure. 'It won't be easy for someone to break that structure at Sundowns. If Cardoso doesn't win the Champions League maybe they'll release him and bring someone else who will be released if he doesn't well in five games. They do the right things and get themselves in the right spaces,' the former Kaizer Chiefs winger concluded. Kaizer Chiefs to sign Mheli Mabuza?

There's a new face in the Kaizer Chiefs training squad at Naturena. The club's first-choice right-back, Reeve Frosler, has been injured, while Dillan Solomons has failed to fully grab the opportunity. According to iDiski Times , a 24-year-old named Mheli Mabuza has started to train with Kaizer Chiefs. 'Newly crowned Nedbank Cup champions Kaizer Chiefs are assessing former KZN Academy defender Mhleli Mabuza, who is a free agent after parting ways with Portuguese fourth-division outfit Louletano D.C,' the outlet reported. 'The 24-year-old is a versatile defender who plays at right-back and can also convert as a winger and midfielder, which has seen him recently be named as the best right-back in the Campeonato de Portugal,' iDiski Times added on the Kaizer Chiefs trialist. Mhleli Mabuza has arrived at Kaizer Chiefs.
