Kaizer Chiefs transfers: Percy Tau salary, Rapoo, Leaner

Today's Kaizer Chiefs transfer wrap looks at Percy Tau's massive wage demands and two other rumoured targets.
According to iDiski Times, Chiefs have entered the race to sign top teenage prospect Neo Rapoo from SuperSport United. Orlando Pirates are known admirers of the full-back star. The 19-year-old SuperSport star recently tasted success with the Afcon U20 side.
Talented midfield player Samkelo Zwane is one of five high-profile names likely to leave. The 23-year-old schemer has fallen down the pecking order. Senior statesmen Thabo Cele and Yusuf Maart hold down places. There are still question marks about Zwane's ability to do work off the ball.

With neither Bruce Bvuma nor Brandon Petersen convincing in the gloves, and Fiacre Ntwari expected to leave, a new goalkeeper is on the agenda at Chiefs.

Percy Tau would consider a move to Kaizer Chiefs if they stumped up a salary package meeting his demands. You can check out his full interview with Robert Marawa below. Tau would be satisfied by R450,000 a month and a two-year deal.

Kaizer Chiefs aim to extend strong start against Polokwane City

Amakhosi have worked tirelessly in the off-season to bounce back from a disappointing 2024/25 campaign, which ended with a ninth-place finish — a season that never quite found momentum. The Soweto giants had a number of new signings brought in, and their first real test came this past weekend against a formidable Stellenbosch FC side. With head coach Nasreddine Nabi absent for that clash due to a family emergency back home in Tunisia, assistant coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef led the team to a convincing 2–0 win — their fourth straight victory under the Nabi's tenure in all competitions. This season presents a new challenge for Chiefs, who are not only looking to improve their domestic form but will also need to manage the demands of continental football as they compete in the CAF Confederation Cup. Next Stay Close ✕ Speaking ahead of the upcoming clash against Rise and Shine, Kaze expressed confidence that the team is clear on its objectives and focused on building early-season momentum. 'We are heading into the second game of the season,' Kaze said. 'The schedule is a bit tighter than we would like. We know what we have been lacking from last season, which has been the consistency, but we are very focused and we know the importance of tomorrow's (Wednesday) game.' Amakhosi haven't had it easy against the Limpopo-based side in recent meetings. Last season, they failed to beat City in both legs — recording a draw and a loss. City were also the side that ultimately denied Chiefs a place in the top eight, holding them to a goalless draw on the final day of the season. That result left Amakhosi one point behind eighth-placed Richards Bay. Despite City losing several key players since then, Kaze remains cautious. 'It's true that we struggled last season,' Kaze continued. 'It was not even the last game of the season that prevented us from qualifying for the top eight. Even in the first leg we lost against them. 'Mentally we are a new team and we are in a good space. We know what we are going to face on Wednesday. We will face a tough and physical team, they play on the low block and they are very good on set pieces. 'We know everything that we need to expect from them and we are prepared. We understand the importance of consistently having good performances to try and stay connected to the top of the table, and I can tell you that game will be different.'

Orlando Pirates FULL list of player departures

Orlando Pirates have made wholesale changes to their playing personnel for 2025-2026. Will it pay dividends by the end of the campaign? Monanpule Saleng, Mohau Nkota and Zakhele Lepads are three high-profile exits. Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako have joined Kaizer Chiefs. Sibisi made 42 appearances last season across all competitions, including 25 in the league. The Sea Robbers have started this season in awful shape, losing to Sekhukhune and Marumo Gallants. Orlando Pirates' R14 million outcast finally spotted

Orlando Pirates have let go of several high-profile players this winter. Judging by early season results, will this come back to bite them? Karim Kimvuidi, Mohau Nkota, Monnapule Saleng and Zakhele Lepasa are all embarking on new challenges. Kimvuidi recently made an appearance on the bench for his new club. 'Nkota is already a better player after leaving Pirates' DR Congo playmaker Karim Kimvuidi was in FC Ashdod's squad for their 2-0 loss against Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Israeli Cup at the weekend. The 23-year-old struggled to nail downb a regular place in the Pirates side during his three years with the club. After hesitating to sell Monnapule Saleng, and with all possible suitors knowing he was unhappy at the club, Pirates scuppered a massive opportunity to make some money on the player, with a weakened bargaining position. The record departure in Pirates history was €2.3 million (R48 million) when Mbulelo 'Oldjohn' Mabizela moved to Tottenham in 2003-2004. It's unlikely the Sea Robbers would have fetched a number in that region, but there's no reason why the 2022-2023 PSL Player of the Year should be leaving on a free transfer. However, that's the most likely scenario with the player out on loan with Orbit College for the 2025-2026 season. After all, there were substantial rumours of offers from Standard Liege in Belgium and French Ligue giants Monaco. Details: Saleng returns to Orbit College 29-year-old Nkosinathi Sibisi will wear the captain's armband at Pirates in 2025-2026. He was a key figure last season alongside breakout star Mbekezeli Mbokazi in the heart of defence after Thabiso Sesane was struck down with a long-term injury.
