May 24---- An 89-year-old man received life-threatening injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 29 north of Benson at 8:57 a.m. Saturday. The man was transported to CentraCare — St. Cloud Hospital for treatment. According to a from the a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on Highway 29 when the vehicle went off the road into the lefthand ditch, where it struck an embankment and vaulted. The driver, Keith William Hein, of Montevideo, received life-threatening injuries from the incident. The airbags did deploy, and Hein was wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident, according to the Minnesota State Patrol report. According to the report, responding agencies included Swift County Sheriff's Office, Benson Police Department, Lifelink, Benson Fire Department and CentraCare Ambulance.

Man, 34, suffers life-threatening injuries after hit and run in east end, Toronto police say

A 34-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a hit and run in Toronto's east end late Monday, police say. The collision happened near Queen Street E. and Jones Avenue, Toronto police said in a news release on Tuesday. Officers were called to the area at about 11:55 p.m. Police said the man was crossing Queen Street E. on foot from the north to the south side, in the east crosswalk, when he was struck by a southbound light-coloured sedan. The vehicle had turned left to go eastbound on Queen Street E. when it hit the man. The motorist then fled the scene, police said. Toronto paramedics took the man to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police have not released a description of the suspect vehicle.
