Montreal police investigating death of 18-year-old man in Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve
Montreal police are investigating the death of an 18-year-old man in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. At first, the man's death was being treated as suspicious, but police have since confirmed it to be the city's 16th homicide of the year. Anthony Dorelas, spokesperson for Montreal police, said they received calls reporting an injured person at around 10 p.m. on Saturday near Notre-Dame and Sainte-Catherine streets. The young man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second person was found there, added Dorelas, with non-life threatening injuries. The police's major crimes unit is investigating the death of the man and as of 2 p.m. on Sunday, no arrest had yet been made.

Stabbing in Winnipeg's North End sends five to hospital

THE CANADIAN PRESS/David Lipnowski The Winnipeg Police Service is investigating an early morning stabbing in the city's North End that sent five people to hospital on Monday. The investigation began around 4 a.m. when officers were called to the 500 block of Mountain Avenue for reports of two people being stabbed. However, when police got to the scene, they found multiple people with injuries. Five people were taken to the hospital – three in critical condition and two in stable condition. Everyone is now in stable condition. The major crimes unit is investigating, and the area was closed off for investigation. Police said there is no risk to public safety as this was an insolated incident involving a group of people who were fighting. RCMP investigating homicide after child dies in Sask. Cree Nation
Saskatchewan RCMP have launched a homicide investigation after a child died in Shoal Lake Cree Nation Friday evening. At around 7 p.m., Carrot River RCMP received a report that a child under the age of 10 had been seriously injured in a home on the Cree Nation, Saskatchewan RCMP said in a news release. Arriving officers found the child unresponsive inside the home. 'Life-saving measures were attempted. EMS also attended and declared the child deceased at the scene.' RCMP said. The RCMP major crimes unit took over the investigation after determining the death was suspicious. According to the RCMP, a suspect, known to the child, has been identified and taken into custody. RCMP say there is no elevated risk to public safety related to this incident. Shoal Lake Cree Nation is located about 240 kilometres northeast of Prince Albert.
