Suvendu Adhikari slams Bengal govt for skipping Yoga Day, says

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], June 21 (ANI): On the occasion of International Yoga Day, West Bengal's Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari criticised the state government for not participating in the nationwide celebration. He alleged that while both NDA and non-NDA ruled states observed the day, West Bengal deliberately skipped it. Speaking to ANI, Adhikari said, 'NDA and non-NDA state governments are celebrating Yoga Day today, except West Bengal, because West Bengal follows Bangladesh. It does not follow Delhi. More than 180 countries are celebrating International Yoga Day today. As Indians, we are proud of this.' The sharp remarks came as International Yoga Day was celebrated across the country, promoting the physical and mental health benefits of yoga. Earlier on Saturday, senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh said, 'Yoga is our country's heritage. We have given yoga to the world. It is a very good medium to keep the body healthy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi promoted it globally, and now yoga is being practised in about 200 countries, so the credit for this goes to Narendra Modi, who revived and promoted yoga in the world again.' Meanwhile, on the occasion of International Yoga Day, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose highlighted how the practice of Yoga was earlier 'confined to India,' and the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to spread it internationally has led to people accepting it the world over. As part of the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the effort to promote a healthy lifestyle while performing Yoga with others in Vishakapatnam. Meanwhile, multiple other Chief Ministers and Union Ministers are participating in Yoga events in their respective cities. 'Yoga is universal in nature. Yoga connects the mind and the body. This is something which belongs to the entire humanity. It was confined to India, but our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, took it to the whole world. Now it is for the world, and the world is accepting it,' Governor Bose told ANI. (ANI)

'His mind is not working': Prashant Kishor targets Nitish Kumar for skipping Niti Aayog meet

Prashant Kishor and Nitish Kumar (File photos) NEW DELHI: Political strategist and Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor took a jab at Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday, following Kumar's absence from the recent Niti Aayog meeting. Kishor questioned the CM's health, cognitive ability, and the political motivations behind his continued leadership. 'Nitish Kumar didn't attend the meeting as he is not physically and medically fit,' Kishor claimed while talking to reporters. He further criticized the CM for prioritizing political negotiations over development-focused discussions. 'If you see it from another perspective, the CM of the poorest state, Bihar, didn't attend the meeting, which was for development, but he has gone today (at NDA CMs and deputy CMs meeting) to bargain for more seats for JD(U) (in Bihar elections ),' he said. — ANI (@ANI) In a sharp personal dig, Kishor also questioned Kumar's mental faculties and claiming the lack of accountability for those holding public office. 'His mind is not working... A student from a common family has to take physical and medical tests to pass an examination, but the state's CM, who doesn't even remember his name, has no such rule for him,' he remarked. Kishor also targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of political opportunism. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Shop Directly from Adidas Franchise Stores – Up to 50% OFF Original Adidas Shop Now Undo 'BJP has imposed such a person on Bihar as they have 12 Lok Sabha seats and support in Bihar,' he saidd. He added that the BJP was compelled to project Nitish as the CM face ahead of elections due to strategic calculations. 'It's the BJP's compulsion to keep Nitish Kumar as the CM face till election, as if they won't do that, he will shift to the other side,' Kishor added. This comes as Bihar CM and key NDA ally Nitish Kumar was notably absent from the 10th Niti Aayog governing council meeting held in New Delhi on Saturday. He was amongst various leaders from opposition-governed states who did not attend the session. His non-attendance has sparked political discussions, particularly as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Bihar in advance of the state's assembly elections this year. His absence at the crucial meeting triggered discussions in political circles. Leaders from both Congress and RJD have expressed their disappointment, labelling it as "unfortunate" whilst suggesting potential underlying political implications. Mamata skips crucial Niti Aayog meeting

Kolkata, May 24 (UNI) Nearly a year after the microphone controversy at the NITI Aayog meeting in Delhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will not be attending the meeting scheduled for Saturday in New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the chief ministers of various states. Sources said chief ministers of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan and Karnataka Siddaramaiah have also decided to skip the meeting. Although no clear explanation has been given for the West Bengal Chief Minister's decision to skip the meeting, sources suggested that her bitter experience in the NITI Aayog meeting last year might be a key reason for her absence from this crucial gathering. In the last NITI Aayog meeting on July 24 last year, a controversy erupted after Mamata Banerjee walked out midway, alleging that her microphone was muted during her speech, preventing her from speaking for more than five minutes. Mamata Banerjee also accused the organisers of discriminating against her. She claimed she was given only five minutes to speak, while others who spoke before her were allowed 10 to 20 minutes to present their points. However, the Union government rejected her allegations through the Press Information Bureau's fact-check handle. A statement issued by PIB at the time asserted that Mamata Banerjee's allotted speaking time had ended and even noted that the bell, which typically signals the end of a speaker's time, had not been rung. Mamata Banerjee was the only Chief Minister from a non-NDA ruled state to attend that NITI Aayog meeting. UNI XC PRS

India's global outreach on Operation Sindoor begins: First all-party delegation headed to UAE today

The first of the seven multi-party delegations, which will travel to international capitals to articulate India's position, will leave today for United Arab Emirates (UAE). The delegation, led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Eknath Shinde, will also visit Congo, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. The other members in this delegation are Bharatiya Janata Party MPs Bansuri Swaraj, Manan Kumar Mishra, SS Ahluwalia, BJD MP Sasmit Patra, IUML MP ET Mohammed Basheer and Ambassador Sujan Chinoy. Over the next four days, until May 25, as many as seven delegations will embark on visits to various countries to address audiences, policymakers, and elected representatives. The list include MPs from multiple parties which have been divided into seven groups consisting of 8-9 members. A leader has been assigned for each group who will lead the delegation on global level. Of the 51 political leaders, 31 are part of the ruling National Democratic Alliance, while the remaining 20 are from the non-NDA parties. The members of the delegation are armed with a dossier highlighting Pakistan's decades-long promotion of terrorism and New Delhi's new normal in tackling cross-border terror after Operation Sindoor. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Tuesday briefed three of the seven delegations on the major talking points and the global outreach plans. This included the group led by Shinde. 'We will give a clear message that India is a peace-loving nation but if someone attacks us, we will give a reply. India is focused on economic development. Pakistan is busy with developing terrorism,' Shinde told reporters after the breifing by Foreign Secretary. The delegations will meet parliamentarians, ministers, government officials and think tanks in 33 countries to highlight how India has set a new normal in Operation Sindoor to emphatically tackle cross-border terrorism. We will give a clear message that India is a peace-loving nation but if someone attacks us, we will give a reply. The delegation will meet parliamentarians, think tanks, and the Indian community. The discussion will mainly focus on Pahalgam and the earlier attacks. The delegations will talk about the major terror attacks sponsored by Pakistan, how Islamabad refused to act even after New Delhi provided clinching evidence comprising photos, DNA samples and call records in the aftermath of the 2008 Mumbai attacks. The leaders are expected to point out that all major international terror attacks including the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks and the 2005 London bombing had direct or indirect links to Pakistan. Key Takeaways India is actively engaging in global diplomacy to counter terrorism narratives. The delegation comprises members from both ruling and opposition parties, showcasing a united front. Meetings with international policymakers aim to reshape perceptions about India's security policies and Pakistan's role in terrorism.
