Delivery driver angers Aussie neighbourhood after careless acts caught on camera
A delivery driver has infuriated residents in a Sydney suburb who have accused him of 'lazy' behaviour. Within the space of a week, three residents recorded the moment their parcels were thrown at their homes, leaving a watch damaged when it hit the wall. In Ambarvale, roughly 50km southwest of Sydney, a delivery driver in a hi-vis jumper was captured on a doorbell camera tossing a parcel at a front door. It appears to hit the wall with a sharp thud, in an impact that left a new watch allegedly damaged, resident Daniel Lloyd told Yahoo News. 'The watch was only $50, but price isn't really the point, it's how it was treated and how hard it hit the wall before landing in my garden,' Daniel said. "The watch had such a hard impact, it's not showing the true time.' The driver is from logistics company iMile, a company Daniel had never heard of until his neighbour also complained about a rogue delivery. The incident was filmed on Wednesday morning, and is the latest in a string of similar deliveries. The day before, on Tuesday morning, the same driver was spotted on security camera at another Ambarvale home once again tossing the parcel on the ground. Kylie, the resident who recorded that footage, said it wasn't the first time she's had a rough delivery from iMile. 'They just throw it at the door,' she told Yahoo. 'Really puts me off ordering online.' Thankfully, the items in her parcels were plastic and were not damaged. Detail caught on front yard security camera sparks alarm: 'Will do you harm' Australia Post opens humongous new centre to keep up with e-commerce spike Australia Post driver accused of 'pure laziness' after being caught on doorbell camera Parcel thrown 'like in a bowling alley' A third resident, Deb, also captured the moment the same driver lobbed her parcel across her lawn to her front door last week. 'This is the second delivery from them,' she said. 'We received one about a week prior, same thing but I found it in the middle of the front yard. He just bowled it like he was at the bowling alley, I didn't even know it was out there until about an hour later.' The shocking deliveries left residents enraged, with many others complaining they have experienced the same 'lazy' behaviour. "I witnessed iMile throw our package out his car window onto the council strip and drive off," one woman wrote. "I'm in Bradbury and my parcel was delivered by iMile, which I knew was here as I heard it hit the ground after it was thrown in front of my door," another said. "Just lucky it didn't have breakables in it, only clothes." Another said she had 10 glass candleholders smashed due to the rough delivery method. iMile launches investigation after 'deeply concerning' footage A spokesperson for iMile Delivery told Yahoo News they were "deeply concerned" by the footage and have launched an "immediate internal investigation" into the actions by drivers as well as the company's delivery protocols. "At iMile, we hold customer experience in high regard and genuinely share the dissatisfaction expressed regarding the level of service shown here. We are committed to taking the necessary steps to ensure that a higher standard of care is maintained in all future deliveries," the spokesperson said. iMile typically delivers products ordered from overseas companies, including Shein, Temu and Ali Express. Australia Post unveils landmark addition, Qantas passengers trial major airport change, two Aussies' $4.8m lotto prizes unclaimed for years
Hello and welcome to Yahoo's live news blog this Thursday. Australia Post has opened the biggest parcel facility in Australia to keep up to speed with a boom in online shopping. There's a renewed push from lotto officials to find two unwitting Aussies who've scooped $4.8 million each on the 10-year anniversary of Set for Life's launch. One of the winners has less than two years to come forward before their prize is surrendered. Scores of Qantas passengers were the first to ditch passenger arrival cards at Sydney Airport on Wednesday as part of a trial to switch to digital declarations. It was an extension of a trial began last year at Brisbane Airport and the airline have hailed the latest step as "significant". Follow along as we bring you regular updates throughout the day. Australia Post's big step to tackle parcel boom Australia Post says millions of Australians will be receiving their parcels quicker thanks to the opening of a giant new parcel delivery centre in Sydney's west. To accomodate the huge boom in e-commerce and online shopping, Australia Post has opened a huge new parcel centre in Sydney's Blacktown that can handle close to 50,000 parcels a day during peak periods. Australia Post says the new centre will be able to handle more delivery vans than anywhere else in Australia, with capacity for nearly 400 of them. 'The new centre has been designed to create a seamless and streamlined experience for both our delivery teams and our customers. By bringing our teams closer to their delivery areas, we're able to improve turnaround times and ensure parcels reach customers' doorsteps faster," Australia Post's Khaled Elkhatib said. Travel chaos in the US There's travel chaos in the US as one of the world's biggest airlines was forced to ground its flights over a glitch with its computer system. "Due to a technology issue, we are holding United mainline flights at their departure airports," United Airlines said in a statement. "Safety is our top priority, and we'll work with our customers to get them to their destinations." More than 800 flights were cancelled because of the issue which impacted the weight and balance computer system. The system has since returned to normal operation but delays will continue. Hundreds sacked in $42m company collapse National transport and logistics company XL Express has gone into liquidation after 35 years in business. It has collapsed owing almost $42m in estimated debts, with about 200 employees to be left without jobs. The Brisbane-based trucking company was founded in 1990 and operated across Australia. The company was plunged into voluntary administration in late June and appointed administrators Kelly-Anne Trenfield, Ross Blakely and Joanne Dunn from FTI Consulting, who conducted an 'urgent assessment' into its finances. As part of the liquidation, its 200 employees were stood down and on June 23,the premises in Western Sydney were locked due to unpaid rent, the administrators said. The FTI Consulting report said the logistics company owed up to $41.9m in total debts, with $5.3m owed to employees and $3.4m to the Australian Taxation Office. XL Express also owes an estimated $18.9m to lenders including NAB, ScotPac and Judo Bank. The report said an estimated $12.4m was also owed to other unsecured creditors. Multiple injury compensation claims that are being processed by insurers were also noted by administrators. - NewsWire Council faces yet another garbage truck fire Yet another council is warning residents to correctly dispose of their batteries after a garbage truck was once again hit by fire. Queensland's Redland City Council said it has now had six garbage truck fires this year, most likely the result of batteries being thrown in kerbside bins. "Please keep batteries and hazardous items out of your bins. A small mistake could cause a major disaster," the council said. Australia Post is slammed for infuriating issue with their deliveries: ‘I'm about to crash out'
An Aussie has slammed Australia Post after their parcel was nearly delivered to their home before being inexplicably sent across the country. Jay Morgan explained they had ordered a package from Melbourne, when it arrived at a distribution centre in southeast Queensland. Jay claimed the package was just five minutes away from their home when it was suddenly sent all the way to South Australia. 'I am about to crash out over Australia Post,' Jay said in a TikTok video. 'I had a parcel that was supposed to arrive either yesterday or today. It got to the final stop on Wednesday - the last depot before it gets delivered. 'Why is it now in South Australia? I am in southeast Queensland. This parcel was sent from Melbourne. 'It got through southeast Queensland, like five kilometres down the road from where I live. In what world does this make any sense? Australia Post, what are we doing?' Jay claimed it made absolutely no sense, as they could've easily picked up the parcel when it was in southeast Queensland. 'I could have literally driven five minutes down the road and picked it up from the depot yesterday,' Jay said. 'This is really the best that our country has to offer?' Dozens of commenters were shocked by the strange delivery route and did their best to make light of the situation. 'This is the most efficient way. Obviously,' one joked. 'Australia Post are literally the worst when it comes to delivering packages,' another said. 'It's called Australia Post, it needs to see more of Australia first,' another wrote. 'The parcel decided it wanted an extended holiday,' another said. Others shared their own Australia Post horror stories. 'Australia Post once shipped my wheelchair to Canada. It was being sent from Sydney to Newcastle,' one wrote. 'This happened to me. It was coming from the Gold Coast to Logan and it went to Adelaide,' another said. 'I had this happen to me last year with a box of diabetes supplies,' another wrote. 'I had the same thing happen to me. Started in Queensland, bounced between NSW and Queensland for three weeks,' another said.
