Telstra outage wipes out telecommunications in southern NSW
Telstra says its network is being affected by a large-scale outage across southern New South Wales.
Thousands of Telstra customers between Nowra and Eden, and as far inland as Bombala, are without internet and phone coverage following an incident at an exchange site.
Crews are en route to north Nowra to investigate the issue, which is affecting 99 other base stations across southern NSW.
The ABC understands service has returned to some customers.
Telstra southern NSW regional manager Chris Taylor said calls to triple-0 should not be affected.
"What we are recommending is if your fixed line is working, you can call emergency services," Mr Taylor said.
"If you are in an area where there is overlapping coverage from another provider, you can call triple-0.
"If you still have internet access at home, you can use wi-fi calling on your mobile phone."
