Graphic video disrupts virtual public comment portion of Baltimore school board meeting

A pornographic video disrupted the virtual public comment portion of a Baltimore City school board meeting Tuesday evening, according to our media partner The Baltimore Banner. It's not clear how the video got shown during the public participation part of the meeting, which included prerecorded videos, the Banner reports. Baltimore City Public Schools spokesperson Sherry Christian told the Banner that a "graphically offensive video was displayed to participants." Christian added that the meeting was paused as soon as the video was discovered. "The meeting was recessed briefly while our team assessed the implications and determined the safest way to proceed," Christian said. According to the Banner, a reporter watching the meeting from home only saw a frozen screen of Board Chair Robert Salley during the public comment portion of the meeting. However, those attending in person saw the video, according to the Banner. Salley said the livestreaming was ending, but the rest of the meeting was continuing in person, the Banner reports. Some commissioners who joined the meeting through Microsoft Teams ended their sessions. The Banner says the continuation of the school board meeting was being recorded and uploaded to City Schools TV on YouTube. "We take this incident very seriously and are actively working with our technology team to prevent similar disruptions in the future," Christian told the Banner.

Al Azamuddin Al Fadzil, 22, and Syahmi Firas Jurij, 27, were fined RM4,000 each, while Hanafi Ibrahim, 47, was fined RM3,000 after pleading guilty to the charges read separately to them before magistrate Wan Izzat Wan Abdullah. After Kelantan cops raided HIV outreach, three men fined RM3,000 and RM4,000 for ‘obscene' images and clips found in phones

KOTA BARU, July 20 — Three men were fined by the Magistrates' Court here today for possessing pornographic images and videos on their phones following a police raid during an HIV medical outreach event in June. Harian Metro reported that the court imposed fines of RM3,000 and RM4,000 respectively — or six months' imprisonment in default — on the trio after they pleaded guilty to the charges. 'The accused have repented and promised not to repeat the offence. Their families have also pledged to guide them on the right path,' their lawyer Samantha Chong Yin Xin reportedly told the court. Deputy Public Prosecutors Muhammad Nadzir Abdullah and Nur Haziqah Hassan had urged Magistrate Wan Mohd Izzat Wan Abdullah to impose a deterrent sentence, citing public morality and social norms. The men, aged 22, 27, and 47, were charged under Section 292 of the Penal Code which handles 'sales, etc, or obscene books, etc'. The charge carried a penalty of up to three years in prison, a fine, or both upon conviction. A coalition of civil society groups had previously urged Kelantan police to revise their statement on a June 2025 raid of an alleged 'gay sex party' here, which they clarified was in fact a health outreach event. The groups, led by transgender rights advocacy group Justice for Sisters, said media reports following the raid resulted in harmful and stigmatising remarks that have intensified fear among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) individuals seeking health services. The coalition said all attendees tested negative in police-conducted urine tests, and no evidence of sexual activity or promotional content on social media was found. Three individuals were arrested over personal intimate content on their phones, which the groups described as trumped-up charges. On Friday, the MAC confirmed that it conducted a night outreach session here on June 17 under the Differentiated HIV Services for Key Populations model. MAC said the session was in collaboration with Kota Jembal Health Clinic and part of a strategic approach introduced by the Health Ministry. It said the session was held from 8pm to 2am and had reached over 70 high-risk individuals, with services scheduled outside office hours to improve accessibility.

Hong Kong student warned AI porn case is ‘not closed' despite formal apology

A law student at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) has expressed 'deep remorse' for using artificial intelligence (AI) tools to create pornographic images of female classmates and has voluntarily withdrawn from an overseas academic exchange programme, according to the institution. In a statement issued on Thursday, its second within five days in response to the controversy, HKU stressed that the warning letter to the student and his formal apology were 'not a closure to the case'. 'The male student expressed deep remorse for his actions and has voluntarily withdrawn from a year-long overseas academic exchange programme in the upcoming school year,' the statement read. 'The university will cooperate with law enforcement agencies and will continue to further review the case, taking further action when appropriate.' The case first came to light in mid-February when a friend of the law student discovered pornographic images of multiple women on the student's personal laptop. Upon questioning, he admitted to generating the images using free online AI software, based on publicly available photos and screenshots sourced from social media.
