I work on A Place In The Sun and will never forget my absolutely awful experience that left the whole Channel 4 team CRUSHED

In her 20 years hosting A Place In The Sun, presenter Jasmine Harman has seen her fair share of chaos. The sun-soaked property search show, first aired in 2000, has had Jasmine as one of its primary hosts since 2004. She has helped hundreds of clients find their dream home abroad on the Channel 4 programme over the years - including her own cousin. And she even made her own big move in 2023, relocating from England to the Spanish town of Estepona with her husband Jon and children Albion and Joy. But things have not always been smooth sailing for the presenter, 49, who recently told the Express about one particularly awful experience she had on the show. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Jasmine revealed she once presented an episode which saw a house hunter find their dream home among the options she selected. As fans of the show will know, finding the right property for the buyers - who often have big dreams and a specific vision - is not always a guarantee, so she was elated to have been successful. But it all came crashing down when, as she helped the guest make an offer on the property, Jasmine was told the horrifying news it had already been sold to someone else. Having not previously been informed about this, she said everyone - herself, the buyer and the whole Channel 4 team - was 'crushed'. She explained: 'It was just absolutely awful. 'Can you imagine? You're just on the cusp of making that amazing life-changing decision and someone pulls the rug out from under you. It was horrible.' While the buyer was the one hurt in that particular episode, Jasmine added they can sometimes be the ones who cause the hassle in other cases. The host remembered some particular guests on the show who refused to even step foot inside a property she had chosen for them, in Co Mayo, Ireland. Even after she then pointed out it was the only freehold property within their budget, they still refused to take a look. Jasmine also confessed that it frustrates her sometimes when buyers get obsessive over extremely small details. She pointed to a recent episode where a couple declared a penthouse unlivable - just because of the cost of re-tiling the balcony, which they hated the terracotta colour of. The presenter said: 'Sometimes people get a bee in their bonnet about weird things.' She tried to give them the advice she forced herself to consider when buying her own property abroad - that buyers always have to make compromises, no matter their budget. When relocating her family to Spain's Costa del Sol, Jasmine did not have the budget for a newbuild - so had to throw herself into renovations to bring her vision to life. The TV personality will share her property transformation journey on a dedicated TV series set to hit screens later this year. Ahead of the big release, she offered prospective buyers an initial word of wisdom - which was not to look for perfection as it does not really exist. She explained: 'You might find a place that's not perfect but will do perfectly.' These confessions are not Jasmine's first chaotic revelations about her two-decade stint on A Place In The Sun. The presenter described last month a particularly 'awful' incident during filming, which saw her suffer motion sickness during a ride on a microlight plane in the Algarve. 'We were flying and he was doing all of these little tricks and I got a bit of motion sickness and I started to feel a bit dodgy', she recalled to the Express. 'I kept telling myself, "I'll be alright, I'll be alright,".' When the plane landed, Jasmine felt terrible - and amid the wave of nausea, she could not get her helmet off. She continued: 'I ended up vomiting inside the helmet. And it was so embarrassing. In front of the house hunters and this handsome pilot. The whole team.' The presenter described it as 'an awful moment' as 'everyone was there' - but she is now able to laugh about it instead.

Escape To The Country guest breaks down in tears as stunned BBC host scrambles to apologise for 'upsetting her' outside property

An Escape To The Country guest broke down in tears as stunned BBC host Steve Brown scrambled to apologise for 'upsetting her' during a recent episode of the show. The instalment saw Jane and her daughter Bella asked for help from the property expert in a bid to find Jane a dream home in Devon. Jane decided that she wanted to move from her current home in Henfield, West Sussex, and head back to county in the southwest of England after growing up there. She explained that she had outgrown her current pad and had a maximum budget of £425,000 for a minimum of two bedrooms, an office, a small garden, a parking space, located near a large village and church. Before heading to to their next property in the episode, the trio stopped by Teignmouth seafront to catch up and talk about Jane and her reason to come back home. Steve said: 'Dare I say it, your mum, I think, moving down here, doing it on her own, is very, very brave.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The instalment saw Jane and her daughter Bella enquire help from the property expert in a bid to find Jane a dream home in Devon Bella replied: 'I think having the painful slog of raising me and my sister probably made her strong enough that moving down here it's a quick one! 'The main thing is packing, that's the worst bit! Hate packing!' Steve asked her: 'Is this a big leap for you that you just take in your stride? Because not many people just decide...' Before the host could finish his question, Jane wiped away a tear from her face and Steve continued: 'Sorry I don't mean to upset you!' Jane told him: 'No! No you haven't.' 'I hope this is pride that we're talking about here,' Steve said. Jane explained: 'It's hearing what Bella's saying.' Bella joked: 'Sorry I'll say horrible things now.' Jane told Steve: 'It's a fresh start. I'm looking for something new, and a new adventure and a new chapter. 'I just turned 60, now's the time to do it.' Steve asked: 'Has today cemented it for you?' to which she said: 'Definitely.' He added: 'I'm so pleased to be part of this with you.' It's not the first time recently that there were tears involved in the programme. A buyer broke got very emotional after 'having a hard time' with her doomed property search during the most recent episode of the BBC show. Property expert Ginny Buckley returned to our screens to help couple Debs and Colin find their dream property on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. The pair - who had lived in Caterham, Surrey, for 29 years - tried to find their perfect home seven years ago, but it didn't work out, and only now were they ready to try again. Ginny took them to Norfolk end to the village of Forncett End, near a market town of Wymondham. The thatched cottage, costing £500,000, boasted a kitchen, breakfast room, two reception rooms, three bedrooms and a workshop. And they certainly liked the look of what they saw. Colin said: 'That is full-on Escape To The Country character, isn't it?' Debs added: 'It's beautiful. It is really pretty. I love it.' Just moments later she got very emotional and said: 'Oh it's making me - a bit - cry...' A shocked Ginny asked: 'Oh why? What? What's making you?' 'I don't know,' Debs replied. It's just making me a bit, like, emotional. It is so pretty. So pretty.'

Ginny explained to viewers that the pair - who had lived in Caterham, Surrey, for 29 years - tried to find their perfect home seven years ago, but it didn't work out, and only now were they ready to try again. Talking about the heartbreaking time, Debs explained: 'One minute we were doing it, we were even packed up, and then the rug was pulled from under our feet.' Colin is keen to replicate his antique restoring workshop in their new pad, while Debs is a knitting lover. The couple wanted a character property, three bedrooms, a good sized garden and travel links to the capital. ' At the end of the instalment it was revealed that the pair were keen to get their current home sold before making any decisions. However their favourites were the first property that they saw, as well as the mystery one. Just last week a buyer on Escape To The Country was left baffled by the price of a property before making a surprising U-turn. Nicki Chapman was tasked with finding semi-retired lecturer Clement and his grandson Luke a new home in Cornwall. The pair were making the move from Surrey to the coast to live closer to family who were already based there. He wanted to be near pleasant walking routes and had a £675,000 budget for a detached four-bedroom house with a garden and garage. Nicki presented Clement with a range of possible homes but it was the mystery house that particularly surprised him. 'Is the mystery house working its magic?' Nicki asked. 'It's working some magic, it's one of those houses that grows on you as you look through it,' Clement replied. Nicki revealed the asking price was £650,000, a huge £25,000 below budget. 'Where's the contract to sign? Let's go,' Hannah exclaimed. Clement appeared to be shocked by the price and commented: 'I like conversations especially those ones, that's excellent.' At the end of the episode, it was revealed Clement had arranged second viewings for two of the houses, including the mystery property. He put an offer in on the mystery property but ultimately decided to go for a completely different house.

A Place In The Sun fans claim host Jasmine Harman 'deserves a medal' after string of infuriating snubs from 'absolutely useless and time-wasting' pair

A Place In The Sun fans claimed host Jasmine Harman 'deserved a medal' after a string of snubs from a pair of buyers. Civil servant Lisa, from Liverpool, featured on Thursday's instalment of the Channel 4 show and asked for help finding her dream holiday home in southern Alicante. She was accompanied by her father, Stephen, during the search and property expert Jasmine presented a range of potential abodes. Lisa had a budget of £65,000 and explained: 'I absolutely love Spain, I love the lifestyle I love Sundays where everything shuts down, I'm excited.' She was hoping to find a two-bedroom home that is close to bars and restaurants, not too quiet, is an easy walking distance to places and has access to a communal pool. However, things took a turn during the episode when Jasmine began showing the pair around properties. Of the first apartment, which featured a balcony and was priced at £66,000, Stephen commented that the communal pool 'could be a little bit bigger'. While Lisa said that it had 'potential' and she liked the balcony, she wasn't completely sold due to the size of the flat. Speaking to the camera, Jasmine commented: 'I have a feeling this house hunt might be trickier than I had initially anticipated.' The following properties didn't manage to impress either and Stephen felt the second was too small, while Lisa said the third didn't 'excite' her and pointed out the nearby construction work. In the end, despite being drawn to both the second property and the final one, Lisa decided against making any offers. However, viewers were not impressed by Lisa and Stephen and felt they were negative at times. Some posted on X: 'One of the worst timewasters of late. Absolutely useless.'; 'That's an hour of our lives we won't get back.'; However, some viewers were not impressed by Lisa and Stephen and felt they were negative at times, while another praised Lisa's 'honesty' 'Well blow me down with a feather, they ain't buying! #aplaceinthesun.'; 'Poor poor Jasmine she deserves a medal after putting up with these two. They're definitely just looking for something bad at every property. #aplaceinthesun.'; 'Just drop these 2 back at the airport and get the news on #aplaceinthesun.' While someone else said: 'Love this girl's honesty. #aplaceinthesun.'

'Picky' couple with a long checklist for their dream house prove to be a challenge for Phil Spencer on Location, Location, Location as they complain about gardens and living rooms being 'too small'

A couple with a long checklist of requirements for their dream home were branded 'picky' after appearing on Location, Location, Location with a long list of requirements on Wednesday night. Teacher Rachel and military sergeant Leo went on the Channel 4 show as they wanted to find a house where they could put down their roots after years of living in various temporary posts. The couple - who have been together for 12 years and have two children aged four and five - had a budget of £400,000 and tasked Phil Spencer with finding their forever home in north Wales. However, it proved to be a challenge for the property expert. Rachel and Leo said they wanted a detached four-bedroom house with a large garden, three bathrooms, a utility room, a garage and good access to a beach. Phil appeared to look puzzled and deep in thought as he listened to their barrage of requests and even asked them what they needed to store in the garage. 'What are your priorities?' he said, to which Leo added that he also wanted to be closer to the children's grandparents, who live in Flintshire. 'For me, it has to feel right, it's the forever home isn't it? It's the dream really,' Rachel added. But after rejecting properties that were within budget and met their exact requirements, they ended up going for a three-bedroom house that had two bathrooms. The property, in Denbigh, was on the market for under the couple's budget, with an asking price of £385,000. However, after some bartering, they bought the home for £373,000. Because the couple rejected properties that had the right amount of bedrooms, bathrooms, and space, they were branded 'picky' by an X user - who was shocked they didn't opt for one home that had its own bar built into the garage. The viewer wrote: 'So picky - mate you have a pub in the garage ffs.' Others were unimpressed with Phil's picks, with one X user adding: '£400k in Wales should get you Buckingham Palace, where's Phil looking?' And another didn't think much of the property they eventually chose, saying: 'It looks like a Brookside house.' However, some viewers were big fans of Rachel and Leo, with one writing: 'Love this couple in Wales.' Phil started by showing the pair around the first property on offer in Buckley, is 40 minutes away from the nearest beach and a couple of miles from Rachel's mother. The new build detached house was on the market at £325,000 and met their requirements of having four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a garage and a giant neighbouring field for their children to run around in. But while Rachel seemed impressed with the downstairs, Leo said: 'To me, it just feels like a confined space.' Phil then asked them to open the interior French doors, adding: 'You'll get a sense of actually how big it can be if you've got people around.' Eager to convince the father-of-two, Phil then took the couple to see the garden where they admitted that it was 'bigger than they thought it would be'. Phil spoke to the camera alone and said: 'They're not exactly jumping up and down with excitement but what I am pleased about is that they're being open, honest and realistic.' Despite being £75,000 under the asking price and 'much bigger' than where they were currently living but they were not keen on the 'small' living room. 'What I'm taking away from this is that we have to increase the size of the living space,' Phil said before they both agreed. The trio then went to look around a second property located in Carmel with picturesque views of the Welsh countryside and was just over five miles away from the beach and Rachel's family. The four-bedroom detached house - selling for £399,950 - had an open plan living, dining and kitchen area, a utility room, office and a garage. Phil described the property as a 'ten out of ten' and said during his voiceover: 'If the style and charm of this place doesn't wow them, I don't know what will.' Leo's first impressions of the property were positive and he said: 'If there aren't many changes needed to the house then we will definitely use that top budget.' However, their opinions quickly changed when they saw the rest of the house and said they disliked the 'small garden' and the fact that it didn't have an en-suite or a suitable garage that they could store items in. Speaking about the outdoor space, Rachel said: 'I don't know whether it is a little bit smaller than we wanted.' Yearning to please the duo, Phil said he had a surprise before presenting them with the garage, which had been converted into a bar. 'This is the Sergeant's Mess,' he joked before adding: 'Does it make up for the small garden?' Rachel responded: 'For me, no. You're missing the garage which is the storage.' The third house, located in Abergele, ticked all the couple's boxes on their wishlist and had four bedrooms, a utility, three bathrooms, a massive garden and was next to the sea, along with being close to Rachel's family. Despite it being advertised as offers over £400,000, Phil was confident that he could get it for Leo and Rachel at their budget. While everything seemed to be going well, Phil decided to throw another in the mix and showed them around a fourth house in Denbigh which is a 30-minute drive to the seaside. However, while the third property seemed to be a shoo-in and had everything they were after, Leo and Rachel were much more keen on the fourth one which was on the market for £385,000. But it only had three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a much smaller garden than the last home they viewed. 'I feel like I could cry. The only downside is that it doesn't have an en-suite,' Rachel said. 'This has got lots to offer with less expense. It's cosy,' Leo said. Viewers took to X to share their thoughts on the couple, with one branding them 'picky' - however, another said they 'love' Rachel and Leo The pair eventually decided to put in an offer for the final property - even though it did not meet their long list of expectations in comparison to others they had seen. Phil recommended they offer £360,000 as a starting price, which was rejected by the buyer. They then upped it to £370,000 but the owner requested £373,000, which Rachel and Leo accepted. The emotional mother-of-two cried tears of joy and said: 'The next adventure awaits, we've done it.' A couple of weeks after the phone call, Rachel said their children were excited about the move and had started planning the themes of their new bedrooms. 'Even though we've made every house a home, there's going to be roots to where we are which is so nice,' she said.
