Hartlepool nuclear plant given more time to carry out work
An improvement notice issued to a nuclear power station after a scaffolder was injured by a defective light fitting has been nuclear power station operator EDF has been given extra time to carry out improvements after receiving the notice from the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) in ONR said a worker had been injured by a defective light fitting in said it was developing a "specific training package" to minimise the risk of incidents. Worker falls to death at Hong Kong construction site despite wearing harness
A worker fell to his death at a construction site in Hong Kong on Tuesday, despite reportedly wearing a safety harness. Advertisement The 62-year-old scaffolder was working on the fifth floor of a construction site on On Chuen Street, next to the Grace Industrial Building, in Fanling and fell sometime before 3pm. His colleagues found him lying motionless on the ground and immediately called emergency services. Paramedics arrived on the scene and found him unconscious. He was taken to North District Hospital in Sheung Shui, but was later confirmed dead. According to local media outlets, the man had more than 30 years of experience and was installing a nylon net on on the external wall of the building before he fell. Advertisement Investigators had also found that the man was wearing a safety harness at the time of the incident, local newspapers said.
