If you already have a Tote account, check out more free bets from the UK's best betting sites, reviewed by our experts 3.40 Newbury – Fillies' Novice Stakes (Class 4, 6f; Sky Sports Racing) BUTTERFLY BEACH holds an entry in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket next month, and the daughter of Acclamation should be winning this if she's to take that engagement up. That entry alone shows connections think an awful lot of the bay filly, who made a pleasing debut when second at Newmarket at the end of June. Following a decent break, she can be expected to improve significantly and looks to have the most upside of anything in this field. The main danger could be Likeness, but Butterfly Beach is crucially proven on turf, whereas the former has only been tested on Kempton's all-weather surface. 4.45 Newbury – St Hugh's Stakes (Listed, 5f; Sky Sports Racing) It's fair to say that things didn't go to plan for FLOWERHEAD (NAP) in the Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot last month, finishing a never-nearer fifth having failed to land a blow in the race. However, dropped into the calmer waters of Listed company and returning to the minimum trip, Charlie Clover's filly is fancied to land a second win this season for owners Amo Racing. Flowerhead showed terrific form when second behind True Love at Royal Ascot in June, having been sent off at a huge price of 100/1. That is rock-solid form, and a reproduction of that effort would be more than good enough to win this, with the vast majority of the field requiring massive improvement. 5.15 Newmarket – EBF Restricted Novice Stakes (Class 4, 7f; Racing TV) Most of the runners with experience in this novice race have shown very little to write home about. As a result, it looks as if EMERALD COAST has found a great opportunity to get off the mark at the second attempt. The daughter of Sergei Prokofiev receives weight from all her rivals as the only filly in the race, and crucially gets 13lbs from chief-rival Sudbury Hill who's penalised for winning last time out. It would take an incredible performance to concede that much weight to Emerald Coast, particularly given the promise she showed at Chester on debut. Emerald Coast certainly knew her job that day and tried to make all the running, and the half-furlong drop in trip may benefit her in seeing it out this time. Hugo Palmer is bringing this filly on a 330-mile round trip from Manor House Stables, and you would think he's not making that journey anticipating defeat. 7.00 Newmarket – Stevenage Handicap (Class 2, 1m; Racing TV) This selection requires a little more faith but, if MR CHAPLIN can show any of his juvenile form, he may return to the winners' enclosure off a mark of 92. The son of Without Parole was gelded following his final run of 2024, and he has had three disappointing efforts so far this campaign. He ran respectably in the Group 3 Acomb Stakes last term, so you suspect connections would've had higher hopes for him than this. That being said, Mr Chaplin won a handicap at Glorious Goodwood off a mark of 88, and he effectively drops to 87 here with his rider's handy 5lb claim. Most importantly, the 98-rated favourite Elarak has it all to do from that mark. His two wins look to have been vastly overrated, with the form worth very little, and he looked to have no excuses when last of seven over course and distance on his most recent appearance. Horse racing tips: Friday, May 30 – Carlisle and Down Royal

Our in-house expert tipster has studied today's eight meetings across the UK and Ireland and come up with three selections that have a chance of maintaining his excellent recent success rate. Ron Wood's selections: Goodie Two Shoes (7.08, Down Royal) @ SP with William Hill ⭐⭐ Milbanke (2.45, Carlisle) @ SP with William Hill ⭐⭐ Wadacre Giorgio (3.45, Carlisle) @ SP with William Hill ⭐⭐ Odds provided by William Hill and correct at the time of writing. Stars denote strength of selection (max 5). If you already have a William Hill account and are looking for a new bookmaker to use for this week's racing, check out more free bets from the best betting sites, reviewed by our experts. 7.08 Down Royal – His Majesty's Plate (Listed, 2m) GOODIE TWO SHOES won a Listed race at Gowran Park by six lengths on her latest start three weeks ago. That was a fillies-only event, whereas she's in open company now and she steps up in trip again. However, she's a well-bred filly from a strong yard (Joseph O'Brien) and is completely unexposed as a stayer, so there's a fair chance that she will be up to this. Selection: Goodie Two Shoes @ SP with William Hill 2.45 Carlisle – Class 6 Handicap (5f) It might be worth taking a chance on MILBANKE. He needs a big return to form, but he drops into Class 6 company for the first time and the booking of Daniel Tudhope, who hasn't ridden him before, is another plus. The fitting of blinkers – another first – could also help, and although he has never won over the minimum trip, this will be a stiff test, so that's another point in his favour. 3.45 Carlisle – Class 6 Handicap (1m 3f) WADACRE GIORGIO looks a likely improver now he is upped in trip on his handicap debut, having shown a bit of ability in maiden and novice company last year. This Charlie Johnston-trained four-year-old is a brother to a winning stayer for the same connections and should appreciate the stamina test. Selection: Wadacre Giorgio @ SP with William Hill Go to site > Ron Wood 2025 horse racing P/L Star ratings explained ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - confident selection ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - strong fancy ⭐⭐⭐ - fair claims ⭐⭐ - tentative choice ⭐ - minimum confidence If you want to find more odds and offers, take a look at our list of the best betting sites and free bets If you're looking for casino bonuses, we've ranked UK welcome offers here

Horse racing tips: Tuesday, May 20

Our expert has been in good form with his selections over the past couple of weeks and today he has picked a couple of horses, including a NAP who shaped far better than their result suggests last time. Ron Wood's selections: NAP: Sandscreendeliverd (4.10, Lingfield) @ SP with William Hill ⭐⭐⭐ Other: Bowerchalke (4.02, Nottingham) @ SP with William Hill ⭐⭐ Odds provided by William Hill and correct at the time of writing. Stars denote strength of selection (max 5). If you already have a William Hill account and are looking for a new bookmaker to use for this week's racing, check out more free bets from the best betting sites, reviewed by our experts. 4.10 Lingfield – Class 5 Handicap (5f) SANDSCREENDELIVERD (NAP) finished 10th of 15 on his handicap debut last month at Windsor but the numbers don't tell the entire story of his seasonal reappearance. He made some headway while challenging on the outer of the pack, briefly getting in the mix for the places behind the clear-cut winner heading into the closing stages. But he was still green, hanging left (which lots of horses do at Windsor), and he was heavily eased late on by his jockey, losing ground and places. That was his debut for Peter Crate's stable after four months off and there's little doubt he can do better. 4.02 Nottingham – Class 4 Handicap (1m 2f) Having won a one-mile Kempton maiden on her final start as a two-year-old, BOWERCHALKE found seven furlongs an inadequate trip on her reappearance at Wetherby just over three weeks ago. However, she steps up to 1m 2f today and her dam was a useful winner over this trip, so she should still have improvement in her.
