Skip next section Israeli army says it shelled Syria after projectiles launched 06/04/2025 June 4, 2025 Israeli army says it shelled Syria after projectiles launched Israeli's military said it was shelling targets in Syria late on Tuesday after projectiles launched from Syria hit the Israel-controlled Golan Heights. "Two projectiles were identified crossing from Syria into Israeli territory, and fell in open areas," the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) posted on X. In a subsequent post, the IDF said that its "artillery struck in southern Syria" following the launches. Syria's official news agency SANA reported shelling "targeting the Yarmuk Basin, in the west of Daraa" province. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based war monitor, said violent explosions had hit farmland in southern Syria, without reporting casualties. Israel says its strikes aim to stop advanced weapons reaching Syria's new authorities, led by interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, whom it considers jihadists. Israeli media said Tuesday's projectiles were the first fired from Syria into Israeli territory since the fall of former Syrian President Bashir Assad in December. Who is behind the launches from Syria? A group calling itself the Mohammed Deif Brigades, named after a Hamas military leader killed by an Israeli strike in Gaza last year, claimed the attack in a post on Telegram, according to AP news agency. The group first surfaced on social media a few days before. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a post on X that he held Syria's leader "directly responsible" for the launches. Syria's foreign ministry said in a statement carried by the state-run TV channel that it has "not yet verified the accuracy" of the reports of strikes launched from Syria toward Israel. "We affirm that Syria has not and will not pose a threat to any party in the region," the statement said.

Brooks Koepka and model wife own gorgeous Florida pad with private dock

Brooks Koepka will be one of the main contenders in the frame to win this weekend's PGA Championship, hoping to increase his already huge net worth and mountain of riches Three-time PGA Championship-winner Brooks Koepka knows how to enjoy the rewards of his hard work, and all from his multi-million dollar mansion in Florida. The LIV Golf star, who has raked in a staggering £71million during his career, isn't shy about splashing the cash, as evidenced by his extravagant abode. Born and bred in the Sunshine State, Koepka and actress-model wife Jena Sims shelled out £2.5m for their lavish home in Jupiter's exclusive Pennock Point neighbourhood. And the idyllic area has proved a favourite haunt for golfing pros over the years. ‌ Rickie Fowler is among the Koepkas' neighbours, living in his own Pennock Point property, believed to be valued as high as £15m. Justin Thomas also used to live in the same postcode but has since sold up his stake. ‌ The relatively reasonable price tag allowed the couple to put their own stamp on the property. And the finished renovations were showcased by the pair in the Netflix documentary Full Swing, which they both feature in. The sheer scale of the mansion is enough to leave viewers gobsmacked, with multiple garages flanking their driveway for Koepka and Sims' fleet of cars, per The Mirror US. In quintessential Florida style, two palm trees stand near the front door of their glamorous residence, which only gets more impressive once you step inside. With a spacious living room boasting two enormous sofas, Koepka even has a room dedicated to his impressive shoe collection. And much of that comes courtesy of his Nike Golf sponsorship supplying him with an astounding array of footwear. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room offer a glimpse of their idyllic garden, and just a few steps further reveal a glass swimming pool and private dock. The expansive home, complete with a vast array of furniture, offers ample space for the couple and their young son, Crew, making it an ideal spot for entertaining their nearest and dearest. ‌ Boasting a grand 13,000 square feet, the property features six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. Purchased prior to Koepka's reported £75m switch to LIV in June 2022, the 35-year-old has openly expressed his reasons for leaving the PGA Tour for the lucrative Saudi-backed series. "I'll be honest with you, I signed for the dough," he told Logan Paul on the Impaulsive podcast last year. "Tomorrow, I might have a car accident and never play golf again but I'll know my family are set up. You've got to take care of each other." Koepka's financial gains from joining LIV are evident. He's earned more than £33m since his switch, dwarfing the £23m he earned in almost a decade on the PGA Tour. Having already pocketed more than £3m this year, he stands to make millions more as he sets his sights on clinching his fourth PGA Championship this weekend. The tournament kicks off on Thursday, with Koepka set to tee off at the 10th alongside Fowler and Shane Lowry from 12:38pm.

Did Pakistan ‘Probe' India's Defence Systems Last Night? Exclusive From Defence Sources

Last Updated: Defence sources say Pakistan's attacks on Thursday night, which were thwarted by Indian security forces, may have been their 'probing action'. Here's what it means Thursday evening saw Pakistan launch Hamas-style artillery fire, drone, and missile attacks on multiple locations, all of which were repelled by India. But if defence sources are to be believed, Pakistan's motive was not just to attack. What they carried out could possibly be a probing action, said sources. On May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor or precision strikes at nine terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) as payback for the April 22 Pahalgam attack which killed 26. In retaliation, Pakistan first shelled J&K's Poonch, killing 16. Its bids to target military installations at 15 locations in India, too, were foiled, damaging their Air Defence system at Lahore. India shoots down Pakistan's 'eyes in the sky", one of country's most critical airborne surveillance assets – AWACS. Here's why it's a huge blow to Islamabad's defence #OperationSindoor #PahalgamTerrorAttack #Pahalgam #IndiaPakistanTensions #AWACS — News18 (@CNNnews18) May 9, 2025 On May 8 evening, Pakistan's missiles and drones targeted Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan on Thursday evening. In response, India swarmed Sialkot, Lahore and Karachi with drones. 'WEAK MUNITIONS' 'At least 40 or more places were targeted, but it could be mainly to probe where they would be caught and where they would get a free run. In a probing action, if a missile or drone returns, they figure that there is no detection system there. Where it is repelled, they know the system is in place. So when they actually plan something major, they can target the spots with no detection system," sources said. 'We repelled a lot of them as counter air defence systems were activated. Cross-border firing, too, happened, but we retaliated. The drones and missile were with no or very weak ammunition," they said. News18 has already reported how Pakistan had sent weak ammunitions on Thursday evening. PROBING ACTION EXPLAINED In army jargon, a probing action typically refers to a military operation designed to gather intelligence about the enemy's strength, defences, and overall capabilities. It's a method of testing the enemy's readiness and potentially finding weaknesses before a larger engagement. Probing actions aim to understand the enemy's deployment, tactics, and vulnerabilities, which can inform future planning and operations. They can range from small reconnaissance patrols to larger, more aggressive reconnaissance-in-force operations, depending on the specific situation and the information needed. Probing actions often involve sending small units to make contact with the enemy, observe their reactions, and gather intelligence about their defensive strength and vulnerabilities. The term 'probing action' is sometimes used interchangeably with 'reconnaissance-in-force', which refers to a type of reconnaissance where a larger unit is used to probe enemy defences and gather more in-depth intelligence. Probing actions are crucial for effective military planning and decision-making, as they provide valuable information about the enemy that can be used to develop strategies for future operations.
