Freakier Friday's Manny Jacinto and Chad Michael Murray on body swap mischiefs and lessons
We spoke to Manny Jacinto and Chad Michael Murray about their roles in the Freaky Friday sequel. Jacinto and Murray praised their female co-stars, celebrating the film's focus on showcasing strong, talented women. Murray teased the possibility of a third film, hinting at 'something crazy' and an even more adventurous direction for the franchise. Chad Michael Murray described reprising his role in the much-anticipated Freak Friday sequel as 'the cherry on top.' Now showing in cinemas, the film brings magic, humour, and heartfelt connections back to the big screen. During a roundtable interview with co-star Manny Jacinto, the pair shared behind-the-scenes moments and what could be next for the franchise. While Murray returns as high school boyfriend Jake, Jacinto joins the cast as Eric, Anna's (Lindsay Lohan) love The Walt Disney Company Limited About being part of a film that puts women characters at the heart of the story, Jacinto said, 'It is a huge honour to work with such talented, incredible women in the industry and to let them shine.' 'Just getting to witness their come next evolution in their careers with Jamie, Lindsay, and [director] Neisha. It's an honour.' Murray added, 'It's nice to kind of be the cherry on top, that's what we are. But I will ride on those ladies' coattails any day of the week. Their work is phenomenal; they carry this movie in such an incredible way.' 'Understanding' Freakier Friday is set 22 years after the original, Anna (Lohan) is now a music manager and a single mom to 15-year-old Harper (Julia Butters). Her mom, Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis), acts as co-parent to Harper, but she often crosses boundaries. Meanwhile, Eric (Jacinto) is the dad of 15-year-old Lily (Sophia Hammons), a new student at Harper's school. The pair don't get along, but their parents hit it off, and soon there's a wedding and an impending move to London. What makes the film 'freakier' is that there is a double swap: Anna finds herself in Harper's body, while Tess and Lily switch places. Murray said the actors crushed it when asked if it was hard to keep track of who was who during filming. 'It was so evident to me because of the mannerisms. They made the characters so specifically defined, where you could pick up on the ABCs of who everyone was.' While the film is packed with laughs and shenanigans, Murray said that 'understanding is the root base of the film.' Using the analogy of road rage, he highlighted how people often react without knowing the struggles others may be facing, such as family illness, financial troubles, or personal hardships. The film's lesson is about fostering 'understanding and empathy for our brothers and sisters,' said the 43-year-old. Freakiest Friday? Where would you like to see their characters go if there was another film? Jacinto joked about a not-so-PG scenario involving Jake, Anna, and Eric in a throuple. 'The opportunity to swap would be exciting for sure,' added Murray. 'I think taking the movie in an insane direction would be difficult, but achievable. This was achievable; it would just be a lot of work. Everyone sits down, puts their heads together and creates something crazy. I know some ideas are popping around, but I don't want to ruin it. So we'll see what's going to happen. You never know.'

The Most Valuable Menopause Fitness Hack
Earlier this year, I glommed onto a trend that is sweeping women of a certain age in the US: I became a woman who lifts. Admittedly, describing myself as such feels like an overstatement of my fitness level. Seven months in, and I still can't do a pull-up, while my dumbbell incline press tops out at 40 lbs. But I am a regular at a women-inclusive gym that has nary a stair stepper or treadmill and is purely focused on helping women get strong.

Geek Girl Authority Crush of the Week: CONCHITA MARABLE
Welcome to this week's installment of Geek Girl Authority Crush of the Week, wherein we spotlight strong women and nonbinary folks who inspire us. This includes fictional characters and creators in geeky media. They are a prime example of empowerment and how crucial it is for youth to have said example to follow. DISCLAIMER: The following contains spoilers for Apple TV+'s The Buccaneers , particularly Conchita Marable's arc. Proceed at your peril. Conchita Marable, aka Lady Brightlingsea Fast Facts THE BUCCANEERS Season 1 Episode 4, 'Homecoming.' Photo courtesy of Apple TV+. Conchita Marable (née Closson), aka Lady Brightlingsea (Alisha Boe), was born and raised in New York to wealthy parents. In the series premiere of The Buccaneers , she weds Lord Richard Marable (Josh Dylan) and promptly relocates to England. RELATED: Geek Girl Authority Crush of the Week: The Buccaneers ' Lizzy Elmsworth Once settled into her new life, Conchita struggles to adapt. She also butts heads with Richard's parents, Lord and Lady Brightlingsea (Anthony Calf and Fenella Woolgar), who merely view her as an uninhibited, ill-behaved American. Although let's be real, racism is at play here. Conchita finds it understandably challenging to navigate that racism as Richard's family discriminates against a woman of color with status. At one point in Season 1, Conchita learns that her father lost their family's money. Additionally, she and Richard are at odds, and this is especially taxing on her after giving birth to their daughter, Minnie. Thankfully, our favorite couple mends fences later in the season. Conchita even bonds with Richard's sister, Honoria (Mia Threapleton), helping the latter step outside her comfort zone. In the Season 1 finale, Conchita assists Nan (Kristine Frøseth), Lizzy (Aubri Ibrag) and Mabel (Josie Totah) with helping Jinny (Imogen Waterhouse) escape Richard's brother, Lord James Seadown (Barney Fishwick), who was abusing Jinny. RELATED: 10 Questions We Need Answered in The Buccaneers Season 2 Season 2 When Season 2 rolls around, Conchita embarks on a new matchmaking venture, helping her first client, Cora Merrigan (Maria Almeida), find a husband. This business comes to fruition after Richard's father passes away. Conchita discovers that the Marable family has no money. In the wake of his death, Conchita and Richard inherit the Brightlingsea title as his mother and sister move in with them. The Real Deal THE BUCCANEERS Season 2 Episode 2, 'Holy Grail.' Photo courtesy of Apple TV+. Conchita is one of a kind; one in a million, really. She marches to the beat of her own drum. She is unapologetically herself and the life of the party. Part of The Buccaneers ' thematic crux is the juxtaposition of our titular Buccaneers versus the 'prim and proper' English high society in which they're immersed. The English view the Americans as crude and unrestrained, but Conchita pays them no mind. She longs to live her life to the fullest. Her unadulterated joy is infectious. In addition, Conchita is an unwaveringly loyal friend, a supportive wife and a loving mother. She cares deeply about those in her circle and will fall on her sword to protect them. Conchita is kindness personified, but she refuses to take any sh*t. If she sees injustice, she calls it out. RELATED: Read our recaps of The Buccaneers Beyond that, Conchita has a keen eye for financial matters, with her responsibilities as Lady Brightlingsea including balancing the books. She's immensely intelligent in more ways than one — her emotional intellect and ability to read people like a book undoubtedly come in handy. Why She Matters THE BUCCANEERS Season 2 Episode 4, 'Ice Cream.' Photo courtesy of Apple TV+. Conchita is a wealthy woman of color in the 19th century who must wade through the waters of the prejudiced upper class. She has to work extra hard to prove she belongs in high society despite being born into it. Conchita does all this with ebullience and style. She also doesn't allow anything (or anyone) to dim her shine or dull her light. She'll perpetually choose joy through all the ebbs and flows of life. Conchita's refusal to adhere to deeply ingrained misogynistic and racist societal conventions is admirable. RELATED: Looking for another crush? The View's Joy Behar sparks war with MAGA women over her bold claims about the 'ladies Trump likes'
The View host Joy Behar boldly claimed that Donald Trump hates 'strong women,' despite the president placing several in key cabinet positions. The 82-year-old comedienne made the comment on Wednesday's show while discussing Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 's recent response to Trump slamming her as 'one of the dumbest people in Congress.' 'Mr. President, don't take your anger out on me - I'm just a silly girl,' Ocasio-Cortez, 35, said in a self-filmed video. Behar dove into the feud on Wednesday, offering her own take on the president's preferences. 'So, you know, my experience with him, and my observation of him, is he really doesn't really like strong women. He likes beautiful, obedient women who compliment him,' she stated. 'So, he's not going to like [AOC],' Behar added later. 'Somehow, this type of woman really gets in his kishkas.' Co-host Sunny Hostin, 56, would also get in on the action. 'Well, he projects too also, right?' the former federal prosecutor chimed in. 'He's calling her dumb and unqualified. Come on.' The hosts didn't mention any of the women Trump appointed to high-profile roles in his administration, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, Homeland Defense Secretary Kristi Noem, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, among others. Behar relayed her own experiences with Trump to try to make her point. 'Even back in the day when I used to do jokes about his hair, you know - but every male every male comedian did jokes about his hair, but he went after me in particular,' she said. Behar did ask Hostin if she believed young Democrats like AOC had any success connecting with people. 'I think absolutely,' Hostin said, before pointing to New York's mayoral primary, where voters picked Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani over former Governor Andrew Cuomo. 'I think you need to be an opposition party at this point in this country,' she added. 'And so, I think Democrats are finding their way with these younger voices.' Behar's remarks came a couple weeks after she awkwardly paused the show's conversation about riots in Los Angeles to talk up Governor Gavin Newsom's good looks. 'Gavin Newsom brings me back to really handsome presidents,' she said, also mentioning 'JFK and Obama.' 'Wouldn't it be nice to have an articulate gorgeous president like that again?' The View hosts didn't mention any of the women Trump appointed to high-profile roles in his administration, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, Homeland Defense Secretary Kristi Noem and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt Pictured, the Truth Social post that stated the tiff, where Trump took aim at the rising Democrat Last month, top brass at ABC News and its parent company Disney were said have asked the ladies to dial back their complaining about Trump. The talk show has been filled with criticisms of the commander-in-chief and his policies, with mostly kind words for Democrats. The show's usual moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, came under fire last week for comparing life as a black American to living under Iran's authoritarian regime.
