Boy, 17, found dead in Putrajaya Lake, police classify case as sudden death
PUTRAJAYA, Aug 10 — The body of a 17-year-old boy was found floating in Putrajaya Lake this morning. Putrajaya police chief ACP Aidi Sham Mohamed said the body was discovered by members of the public at 7.50 am. 'A witness who was passing by the area swam and pulled the body to the bank,' he said in a statement today. He said initial investigations found no criminal elements, and the case was classified as a sudden death. 'The body was sent to the Putrajaya Hospital Pathology Division for a post-mortem,' he added. — Bernama

Sibu police open child neglect probe after two-year-old dies in sewer fall
SIBU, Aug 6 — Police have opened two investigation papers (IPs) into the death of a two-year-old boy who fell into a sewer near Jalan Wong Soon Kai here two days ago (Monday). Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, in a statement, said one of the investigations is being conducted under Section 3(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for neglecting or exposing a child to a condition likely to cause physical or emotional harm. He said an IP was also opened under the classification of a sudden death case (SDR). According to him, a report on the boy's death was lodged by a medical officer at Sibu Hospital at 11.09pm on August 4. 'The boy was found by a fire and rescue team in a sewer and sent to the hospital. 'Upon arrival at the hospital, the victim was wet, pale and showed no signs of life, before being confirmed dead at the Sibu Hospital Emergency Unit,' he said. According to earlier reports, the boy was found in the sewer after he was believed to have fallen through a manhole at Jalan Pedada. The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received an emergency call regarding the incident at 6.29pm, and upon arriving at the location, the rescue team was informed by the victim's father that his son was missing and believed to have fallen into the sewer system. It was said that the child often accompanied his father to collect used boxes in the commercial area. During the incident, the boy was believed to have gotten out of the car to look for his father before falling into the uncovered manhole. Man charged with murder after father-of-three's 'sudden death' in South Wales
A man has been charged with murder after the "sudden death" of a father-of-three in South Wales. Christian Dean was described by his family as a "well known and loved character" whose loss would be "keenly felt". The 36-year-old died on Thursday and police say they were called to a house on Graig Road in Ynyshir, Rhondda Cynon Taf, shortly before 1pm. South Wales Police said on Monday that a 34-year-old man has been charged with Mr Dean's murder. Thomas Griffiths, from Ynyshir, has been remanded in custody. The force said in a previous update at the weekend that its enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances behind Mr Dean's "sudden death". "The loss of Christian has deeply affected his family, friends, and the wider community who knew him well," his family said in a statement after his death. "Christian brought energy, humour, and warmth wherever he went. "He was a devoted father-of-three and a much-loved son, brother, partner and friend." His family have asked for privacy as they "come to terms with their grief".

Crime scene declared after sudden death of 44-year-old man at Southport
A crime scene has been declared on the Gold Coast as police investigate a "sudden death". Police say emergency services were called to Beale Street in Southport just before 10pm on Saturday, with reports that a man had been found "unresponsive". The 44-year-old man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital, but his death was confirmed soon after — police were notified on Sunday morning. Officers are now investigating the circumstances of his death. Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact police.
