Eurostar delays: trains to Paris cancelled after cables stolen
Eurostar trains have been cancelled and dozens more severely delayed after a huge cable theft on the high-speed line.
More than 600m of cables were removed from the line near Lille Europe, in northern France, overnight.
The cross-Channel network was significantly disrupted on Tuesday after two people were hit by trains. The two incidents mean thousands of passengers are stranded.
At least six morning departures between London and Paris were cancelled, and the operator warned of further last-minute cancellations. Other trains were delayed by more than 90 minutes.
There are also delays on the routes to Brussels and Amsterdam. Trains are being redirected onto conventional tracks, where running speeds are slower.
About 15 engineers have been dispatched to the scene of the theft, the operator said.
Eurostar runs services between St Pancras in London and France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
