Ontario Pink Floyd Tribute Band New Tour Dates, 50th Anniversary Show Announced
Floydium, the premier Pink Floyd tribute band in Canada, has announced new shows in Ontario throughout the month of May. Kawartha Lakes, Canada, May 30, 2025 -- The newly announced shows will take place across Ontario throughout May and June, culminating in the 50th Anniversary Tribute show, set to take place at Mohawk College in Hamilton. The shows will feature Floydium exploring Pink Floyd's most psychedelic tracks, including well-known hits off of The Wall, Dark Side Of The Moon, and others. Find out more at Floydium explains that their main goal in each performance is to replicate not only the sound of Pink Floyd but also the soaring majesty that made the band so iconic. This is a monumental task, particularly given the complexity of the arrangements on tracks such as 'Great Gig in the Sky', but the band says they have gone to great pains to respect the source material and recreate it as faithfully as possible. The band is fronted by accomplished vocalists Kyle Layton Thomas and James Naro, both of whom have been long-time contributors to the Canadian and international music scenes. Given the distinct and varied vocal performances featured on most Pink Floyd tracks, the pair have worked tirelessly to develop a style that honors the legacy of the band. The two are backed by Jennifer Foster and Jenn Kee, both of whom have their own distinguished musical careers ranging from education to screen performance. Find the band on Instagram at On drums, the band features seasoned music educator Greg Wilkinson, accompanied by keyboardist Joel Dalton—whose multi-instrumental, omni-genre background allows him to recreate Rick Wright's inventive style with relative ease—and saxophonist Lucas Durand, showcasing an emotional, raw playing style on tracks like 'Money' and 'Us and Them'. The job of replicating the legendary guitar work of David Gilmour and, in the band's earlier years, Syd Barrett, goes to Joseph Piilonen, whose love of Pink Floyd inspired him to begin playing in the first place. He is assisted by rhythm guitarist Leon Dadoun, who also fills the role of lapsteel player, and bass aficionado Keiko Gutierrez. One listener reviewed their experience, stating, 'I saw Floydium this past weekend at The Capitol Theatre in Chatham and was blown away. You can literally close your eyes and think Pink Floyd is on the stage. Will definitely be catching this act again. Great Gig in the Sky was fantastic.' NJ cover band canceled after Springsteen's anti-Trump comments
NEW YORK — After Bruce Springsteen kicked off his European tour last week with comments calling President Donald Trump corrupt and incompetent, he was warned by the commander in chief that there could be consequences for the 'Born in the USA' singer back home. However, it's a New Jersey tribute band that makes money covering Springsteen songs that appears to be bearing the brunt of the Boss' actions. Riv's Toms River Hub planned to host the cover band No Surrender on May 30, but the show was reportedly eighty-sixed after management expressed concerns that Springsteen's comments have made his music radioactive to their clientele. On Thursday, bandleader Brad Hobicorn told NJ Advance Media that he started getting messages from bar owner Tony Rivoli indicating he was getting cold feet about the upcoming gig. He said the nine-piece band was told on Sunday the show was 'too risky at the moment,' and that their $2,500 payday would be nixed. 'Because Bruce can't keep his mouth shut we're screwed,' Rivoli texted Hobicorn. The skittish bar owner also texted the band's bass player his regrets that the Springsteen-themed show wasn't happening. 'Toms River is red and won't stand for [Springsteen's] bulls–,' Rivoli wrote. According to texts obtained by NJ Advance Media, Rivoli said he'd change his mind if No Surrender could convince him that they could draw at least 75 fans to the show. The band ultimately decided not to move forward. Hobicorn conceded 'there was definitely a safety concern' and said it's best the concert isn't happening due to their negative feelings on the situation. The band will instead perform at Headliner Oasis in Neptune Township on May 30. As the Boss began the last leg of his Land of Hope and Dreams tour, he told fans in Manchester, England, that Trump is leading the U.S. to a dark place. 'The America I love, the America I've written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration,' he said on May 14. The president responded on Truth Social by calling Springsteen a 'prune' and warning him that insulting a U.S. leader abroad could mean trouble for the 75-year-old rocker when he gets home. 'We'll all see how it goes for him!' Trump wrote.

Kate Bush tribute band to perform album in full at show this weekend
A Kate Bush tribute band is set to perform an album in full at a show this weekend. Lisa Abbott's Hounds of Love Band will take to the stage at Ironworks Studios in Cheapside, Brighton, on Sunday, May 11. The ten-piece band will perform the 1985 album Hounds of Love in full, as well as other hits by the singer. Lead singer Lisa said: "We've been playing this album for over 10 years now, and I'm always amazed at its stylistic range. "It has everything from Irish jigs to synthpop to lilting ballads." The band is made up of Brighton musicians, including film composer James Williams, and members of the Brighton Beach Boys. Lisa said: "Other Kate Bush acts are available, but they're mostly small groups. "We are a large band with a string section and we play every note. "There are no backing tracks." The album was two years in the making and pushed the recording technology of its time to its limits. Lisa said: "Reproducing it in such detail, is a tall order, even for such a large band, but several members are multi instrumentalists, which helps. "Kate has some of the most passionate and committed fans around and we get some of that passion secondhand you might say people get quite overwhelmed which is wonderful." The album features Running Up That Hill, which saw a revival after it was featured in the Netflix show Stranger Things. Lisa said: "Certainly, it's kickstarted a wave of interest that might not of happened otherwise. "The more curious kids will often want to delve a little deeper and find out who this fascinating creature is. "There is certainly no one else around like her in the charts today." The show will take place from 8pm to 10.30pm. Tickets are available on the Ironworks Studios website.
