Outlander's Sam Heughan celebrates huge milestone as co-stars send support

Outlander's very own Jamie Fraser, portrayed by Sam Heughan, has been receiving heaps of praise from fans and his fellow stars after achieving a big goal. This well-known Scottish star has commendably amassed over £40,000 for Blood Cancer UK due to his remarkable marathon run, clocking in 26.2 miles at the London Marathon. My Peak Challenge founder Sam took on the marathon with his fellow 'Peakers' and is celebrating finishing his sixth marathon. He hit Instagram to share the highlights with his whopping 4.4 million followers, posting celebratory snapshots and even a close-up of his gleaming gold medal. Writing on his page, he expressed his excitement: "Incredible day running through the streets of London!" and gratitude: "THANK YOU for all the support, wow London really shines in the sun! And boy did the sun shine..." He also dropped a mention for the @mypeakchallenge supporters, those cheering online, Hugo and Lisa, and the entire team at @bloodcancer_uk for their encouragement and warm welcome at the finish line decked with treats, hydration, and smiles. He proudly announced the fundraising feat, adding: "So proud, we have raised almost £40,000 to help fund and raise #bloodcancerawareness. Fellow Outlander star Tim Downie, known as Governor Tryon on the historical fantasy drama, joined the comments to throw in his words of encouragement, reports the Scottish Daily Express . "Absolute legend. Incredible," the actor wrote, accompanied by applauding and heart emojis. Romann Berrux, who plays Fergus in Outlander, simply stated: "GOAT." (sic) Nell Hudson, who portrays Laoghaire MacKenzie in Outlander, responded with clapping emojis. Renowned coach Thomas DeLauer chimed in with: "Atta boy!" The official My Peak Challenge account posted: "What an incredible day! Thank you to our incredible community for supporting @bloodcancer_uk and Coach Sam." (sic) There's still time to donate to Sam's JustGiving page, which has raised over £40,500 for Blood Cancer UK. Sam Heughan ran the London Marathon The story on the page reads: "In honour of 10 years of My Peak Challenge, Sam is running the London Marathon 2025 - and he's dedicating every mile to Blood Cancer UK, our official charity partner for this milestone year. "This run is about more than just crossing a finish line. It's about pushing limits, celebrating resilience, and standing up for those impacted by blood cancer. Every mile Sam runs is a reminder that together we can turn challenges into change. "You can sponsor a mile to fuel Sam's run and help us raise life-changing funds for research, support, and hope." The page then lists the impact of each donation amount on the day, before concluding: "Whether it's mile 3 or mile 23, your donation carries him forward - and brings us all closer to beating blood cancer sooner. "We'll shout out Peakers on socials as Sam progresses on the day, and you may even get a thank you from Sam himself! "1 in 3 people don't survive their blood cancer and we lose them in the first five years after diagnosis. "Too many people are dying from the most complex and aggressive forms of blood cancer - blood cancers that are the hardest to treat. "We believe it's possible to achieve significant shifts in survival, by making sure that all patients have access to the right drug at the right time. "Our focus on the hardest to treat blood cancers will accelerate progress towards our goal of radical improvements in outcomes for these patients and bring forward the day when we beat blood cancer. Join us in celebrating a decade of purpose, progress, and Peaker power." Sam Heughan plays Jamie Fraser in Outlander Sam has been active online since the final episode of Outlander season 7 aired in January. While fans are eagerly anticipating season 8, it remains without an official release date. Outlander star Sam Heughan's acting career was inspired by Robert the Bruce

Sam Heughan has revealed what inspired him to get into acting, as he took a nostalgic walk down memory lane. As part of World Earth Day, the Scottish acting star immersed himself back into nature. In scenes where his Starz portayal of Highland warrior Jamie Fraser wouldn't look amiss, Sam was captured in the video walking through stunning scenery in Dumfries and Galloway . This is where he grew up, and was "born and raised," he proudly stated. Alongside the video, Sam captioned the post: "In celebration of #EarthDay , I've teamed up with @wwf_uk to share why getting outside for a daily dose of nature matters more than ever! "It's all part of their Prescription for Nature campaign - reminding us all to take a moment each day to recharge in the natural world. @mypeakchallenge has always highlighted the importance of community and belonging, with nature playing a key role." He added: "To find out more head over to WWF-UK's website and don't forget to take your #DailyDoseOfNature, share it on your stories and tag @wwf_uk ! Film by @ #WWF #EarthDay #DailyDoseOfNature #Wellbeing." The 44-year-old was seen in the clip playfully tossing a stick into the river bank, as he fondly reminisced on his love for the great outdoors, and the surprising historical figure who got him into acting. "I think as a kid, playing in the outdoors, imagining that I'm King Arthur or Robert the Bruce, it definitely inspired me to become an actor," Heughan explained. He continued: "Using my imagination, being in the outdoors. Exploring and losing myself in these amazing woods and mountains of Scotland." The camera then panned over a gorgeous green landscape, "I love to come to this location because it helps me relax," Sam explained. "Or reflect on the journey that I've been on in my life, and to slow down a bit." He continued: "And I think we all need that. We all need time to reflect. I'm very fortunate to work as an actor with some amazing people but, there were times where it was really tough. I think nature really helped me get through those harder days. "It energises you. I think getting outdoors is just really important for us all to switch off from that busy and hectic lifestyle that we all have in the modern world." "Take time for yourself, but also enjoy the incredible nature all around us. Go and get your daily dose of nature," he added. Fans soon rushed to the comments to share their special moments in nature. "Absolutely love the peace & energy that comes from being surrounded by trees & the great outdoors," chimed one fan. "This is a great message. Sam inspires me every day," shared another as someone else echoed: "True words and Scotland is stunning." "It's so true! I always loved being in the park outside even as a teenager. It helped me in so many ways. At 71 I still love going to the park and just sitting outside with my pups. Thank you SAM!," penned another fan. Someone else wrote: "Happy Earth Day. This reminds me of where I grew up," as another recalled: "We tend to forget that we are a part of nature, and nature is part of us. It's home." Someone else added: "I would love to visit Scotland some day." Join the Daily Record's WhatsApp community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages.
