Sam Heughan has revealed what inspired him to get into acting, as he took a nostalgic walk down memory lane. As part of World Earth Day, the Scottish acting star immersed himself back into nature. In scenes where his Starz portayal of Highland warrior Jamie Fraser wouldn't look amiss, Sam was captured in the video walking through stunning scenery in Dumfries and Galloway . This is where he grew up, and was "born and raised," he proudly stated. Alongside the video, Sam captioned the post: "In celebration of #EarthDay , I've teamed up with @wwf_uk to share why getting outside for a daily dose of nature matters more than ever! "It's all part of their Prescription for Nature campaign - reminding us all to take a moment each day to recharge in the natural world. @mypeakchallenge has always highlighted the importance of community and belonging, with nature playing a key role." He added: "To find out more head over to WWF-UK's website and don't forget to take your #DailyDoseOfNature, share it on your stories and tag @wwf_uk ! Film by @playingfield.agency #WWF #EarthDay #DailyDoseOfNature #Wellbeing." The 44-year-old was seen in the clip playfully tossing a stick into the river bank, as he fondly reminisced on his love for the great outdoors, and the surprising historical figure who got him into acting. "I think as a kid, playing in the outdoors, imagining that I'm King Arthur or Robert the Bruce, it definitely inspired me to become an actor," Heughan explained. He continued: "Using my imagination, being in the outdoors. Exploring and losing myself in these amazing woods and mountains of Scotland." The camera then panned over a gorgeous green landscape, "I love to come to this location because it helps me relax," Sam explained. "Or reflect on the journey that I've been on in my life, and to slow down a bit." He continued: "And I think we all need that. We all need time to reflect. I'm very fortunate to work as an actor with some amazing people but, there were times where it was really tough. I think nature really helped me get through those harder days. "It energises you. I think getting outdoors is just really important for us all to switch off from that busy and hectic lifestyle that we all have in the modern world." "Take time for yourself, but also enjoy the incredible nature all around us. Go and get your daily dose of nature," he added. Fans soon rushed to the comments to share their special moments in nature. "Absolutely love the peace & energy that comes from being surrounded by trees & the great outdoors," chimed one fan. "This is a great message. Sam inspires me every day," shared another as someone else echoed: "True words and Scotland is stunning." "It's so true! I always loved being in the park outside even as a teenager. It helped me in so many ways. At 71 I still love going to the park and just sitting outside with my pups. Thank you SAM!," penned another fan. Someone else wrote: "Happy Earth Day. This reminds me of where I grew up," as another recalled: "We tend to forget that we are a part of nature, and nature is part of us. It's home." Someone else added: "I would love to visit Scotland some day." Join the Daily Record's WhatsApp community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages.

Katie Price and Kerry Katona reveal they WANT their teenage daughters to go on Love Island and follow in their reality TV footsteps as they weigh in on 'nepo baby' debate

Katie Price and Kerry Katona have confessed that they want their teenage daughters to go on ITV 's flagship show Love Island. Katie, 47, is a mother to Harvey, 22, with her ex Dwight Yorke, Junior, 19, and Princess 18, with ex-husband Peter Andre, and Jett, 11, and Bunny, 10, with ex-husband Kieran Hayler. Meanwhile, Kerry, 44, shares daughters Molly, 23, and Lilly Sue, 22, with her first husband Brian McFadden; Heidi, 18, and Max, 16, with second husband Mark Croft and her youngest DJ, 10, with late husband George Kay. Now, the famous friends have confessed that they want their respective teenage daughters, Princess and Heidi, to sign up for Love Island and follow in their reality TV footsteps. Katie told The Sun: 'I always say Love Island, Heidi and Princess need to do it together.' To which Kerry added: 'The way I see it is, forget management, forget fame, what an amazing memory, what an amazing adventure.' The pair have confessed to The Sun that they want their two teenage daughters, Princess and Heidi (pictured with her mother Kerry) to be a competitor on the dating reality show Love Island Kerry also hit back at 'nepo baby' accusations as she insisted their children would only be able to thrive in the industry if they had the talent as well. 'Everyone talks about nepotism right, but everyone has a contact for somebody, I can open a door for you, whether you get through that door and you stay through it, that's on your own f*cking merit,' she said. 'You don't see Brooklyn Beckham playing f*cking football, because he's sh*t - this is our family business, this is what we do as a family.' Love Island is a UK dating competition where a group of singles live together in a luxury villa and try to form romantic connections in a bid to win a £50,000 cash prize. It would not be Princess' first foray into reality TV as she has teamed up with ITV to release her fly-on-the-wall series, The Princess Diaries. Princess is also said to already have a net worth of £500,000 and starred on the cover of OK! Magazine for her 18th birthday as she follows in her mum's showbiz footsteps. While this is a substantial amount of money, this is just 10 per cent of what Princess's ratings can secure as she has vowed to become a 'millionaire by the age of 20' For a single sponsorship brand deal video, the blonde beauty can be anywhere between £2,540 to £3,810. Meanwhile, Heidi, who boasts 18,000 followers on Instagram, has reportedly just 'done her first solo shoot', according to her mother Kerry. Heidi is currently a brand ambassador for In Print We Trust, and she offers fans discounts for using her code as she has proven herself to be the budding influencer. And it is not just TV appearances and brand deals that Heidi can capitalise off, as her TikTok and Instagram accounts have amassed over 20,000 followers. With her 18,000 Instagram followers, she is estimated to earn anywhere between £160 to £245 for each sponsorship brand deal video. Heidi has been trying to break onto the showbusiness scene for many years as she appeared on The Voice Kids in 2020. Having confessed previously that 'she knows she will be famous in the future', the brunette beauty has also teased that she has considered going on Love Island when she is older enough. And there is more to come for the star as a source told the Sun last year that she had 'already secured some incredible opportunities, including a casting in for a lead role in a Pinocchio feature film'. Heidi appears to be taking inspiration of success from family friend Princess as the Katona and Price families have been spending more time with one another over recent years.

Anthony is best known for playing Dean Turnbull, an all-round villain and drug dealer in the ITV soap opera. Coronation Street star Anthony Crank has announced his engagement to his partner Craig Lomax The notorious character first appeared on the show in 2022 and Anthony secured a recurring role on the show until 2024. There's a sky-blue-painted restaurant in the upmarket Edinburgh neighbourhood of Bruntsfield that's quietly become one of the postcode's favourite independents. That's because of its simple formula, involving theatrical decor, a sophisticated yet hearty menu, the fun host, inventive cocktails and an excellent wine list. We asked the owner, Jonathan Chierchia, to tell us more about Decanter. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad How long have you been in Bruntsfield, and how have you evolved? We opened in December 2019 as a local Winery and Dinery of Utmost Finery – a bit of a tongue-in-cheek title. The restaurant is really a reflection of me and my family, and a place where we'd want to hang out. We have an interesting and diverse wine list, but with no pretension. You can just tell the team what you like, and we'll take it from there. We pair this atmosphere with just really excellent food – inspired by Scotland's larder, but with a bit of a twist. Considering the date we opened, we had to do a lot of evolving in a very short space of time. Besides the pandemic's Sunday roast deliveries and cocktails out of hatches; we've learned so much about Bruntsfield and our identity. We've grown in our knowledge of cocktails and evolved our menu. Most of all, we're now becoming known for our events – wine and other tastings that we host frequently. Finally, we've just launched our tasting menu, with five-courses that will change seasonally. Our first focuses on local produce and is called A Taste of Scotland. Tell us more about that menu Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad It was an idea developed by our new head chef, Ian, at my request. In 2019 there weren't many small plates venues in the area, and now with it being a very popular food trend, we find it important to diversify our menu to keep it fresh for our regulars. We've always loved being guests at tasting menus, but wanted to recreate that experience and make it more accessible. We then got incredibly excited about the wine pairings. Ian has taken the best of our local suppliers to create a menu focused on local ingredients, from Blue Murder and kale soup, to Scottish scallops, haggis, venison, and more. The only ingredient that isn't locally sourced is a drizzle of truffle oil – if you know of anyone making Scottish truffles, we're all ears. We're going to look at changing the menu every few months, and are so excited to have this as a feature. Contributed Tell us about your team Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad It feels like you're visiting family when you go to Decanter, as I'll almost always be front-of-house. There's also my sister Maria, and on brief occasions, my daughter Ayda. Grant is our General Manager, Jack and Antonio are front of house, and Ian is our new head chef with years of experience in many different cuisines. Ernesto and I join him in the kitchen. Decanter is not one person - it takes a village to raise a wine restaurant. Is it a good neighbourhood? We love being part of Bruntsfield, it holds many memories, good and bad. From going to school here, to my dad owning the legendary Pasquale's. We believe that we are part of the area's life blood. To ask us to rate our neighbours, is like asking us to choose our favourite child. There's Marco at Tempo Perso, Mike and Charlotte at 181, Robbie at Cafe Grande. The boys from Piggs are who we borrow most from and forget to return. So they get an honourable mention. What demographic does Decanter attract? The eclectic mix is what makes the place. We have young professionals and those who have been here for decades, as well as wine lovers and cocktail connoisseurs. That's what we love – nobody feels intimidated. They all have to listen to my playlists though. Any signature dishes? Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad There are a few that we just can't remove from the menu for fear of an uprising. Padron peppers are definitely one of them, as well as the monkfish and prawn skewers, our venison, and the sticky toffee pudding. But the one that received the worst backlash when we trialled a small hiatus was the fish tacos. Favourite suppliers? Castle Game and 181 Deli keep our standards high. Is your Sunday roast still as popular as ever? Sundays are busy! Our roasts are still going strong – the holy trinity of venison, beef, and chicken being our most popular option. Any new cocktail inventions? The cocktail menu is an obsession and I spend too much time thinking about it. Jack has some fresh ideas too. Our staples are always there, and we think our current list is one of our finest. However, we have become a victim of our own innovation, as people can't see past our Twisted Spritzes. An incredibly popular new one is The Hugo & Harlot, which is our riff on a Hugo Spritz, made with Harlot English sparkling, elderflower and pear liqueur and soda. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad It's not reinventing the wheel, it's adding fancy rims to it. What does the future hold? We have no idea until we latch on to it. Decanter was always meant to be an adventure, and adventures evolve, but wine is forever. We will keep bringing interesting wines, drinks, and food to Bruntsfield for a very long time to come. One exciting launch we just had was our very own wine: The Reign of Terror. Terror is my English bulldog, who is loved by basically everyone in Bruntsfield. We were able to work with an amazing wine producer in Italy called Matronae – we love their Primitivo, so this is the wine that Terror's face is now on.
