Twist after ‘support kangaroo' goes viral

A wildly viral video of a kangaroo holding a boarding pass on a plane has left people scratching their heads. The clip, which has done the rounds on social media this week, shows a woman furiously arguing with a flight attendant while a kangaroo in a harness innocently watches on, clutching its own boarding pass. The woman furiously waves her hands in the air as the flight attendant points her finger towards the roo, while they speak an unidentified language. Millions of views, thousands of comments and a wave of 'only in Australia' memes later, the video was hailed as yet another example of airline drama in the golden age of in-flight absurdity. But – sorry to be the bearer of bad news – it's all fake. The original clip, captioned 'No kangaroo on the plane', gathered over 1 million likes on Instagram – and people were not happy. 'He has a ticket he paid for! Let him in!' said one. 'He behaves better than my kids,' laughed another. 'This is the saddest thing I've ever seen,' said a third. 'There needs to be rules against discriminating against a paying customer just because of their species,' said a fourth. Others were quick to catch on, slamming the AI-generated footage. 'How can no one tell this is AI?' questioned one viewer. 'You guys have your boomer glasses on,' mocked another. 'AI is getting scary,' said a third. 'How are people falling for the kangaroo video. I'm so serious. Yeah it looks eerily real but in what world does a kangaroo just pass through all the airport checks and is only stopped at the literal airplane door,' questioned another. Others were shocked they fell for it in the first place. 'Fell for my first AI video and I feel sick to my core…. like what was I thinking … that kangaroo was holding a boarding pass,' said one viewer. People have now confirmed the video is indeed fake, thanks to the help of internet sleuths and X's AI assistant 'Grok' who flagged the video as AI-generated on the platform. The video is just the latest example of AI-generated content fooling even the most sceptical of viewers, with recent fakes ranging from natural disaster clips to fake images of celebrities. Just earlier this year, millions were fooled over AI images of Katy Perry at the Met Gala for the second year in a row. No matter your feelings about artificial intelligence, there is no denying that it is becoming increasingly embedded within people's daily lives. A recent study by the University of Melbourne showed that just 30 per cent of Australians believe the benefits of AI outweigh the risks, ranking us the lowest among all. additionally, 55 per cent say they realise the benefits, compared to 73 per cent globally. Almost 80 per cent of Australians were concerned about the negative outcomes of AI use and 37 per cent said they have personally experienced to observed those negative outcomes.

Delco woman filmed defecating on car in road rage incident makes court appearance

The Brief Charges were upheld for a Delaware County woman who defecated on another woman's car in an April road rage incident. The judge approved charges against 44-year-old Christina Solometo of Ridley Park. A 17-year-old witness who recorded the road rage encounter says the case is "pretty crazy". PROSPECT PARK, Pa. - Christina Solometo, the Ridley Park woman who was made infamous in a now-viral video showing her defecating on another woman's car, shook her head when a judge upheld charges against her in a Delaware County courtroom on Monday afternoon. Escorted by a private security guard, Solometo left her preliminary hearing in Prospect Park without saying a word. Instead, she let her attorney do the talking. What they're saying "If you are going to charge a client with a crime. You better be able to meet that burden.. And from what we saw today, I'm not sure they did" said defense attorney David Klayman. The viral video was played for District Judge Mary McFall Hopper that showed the end of a road rage incident where Solometo is seen defecating on the hood of another woman's car on April 30th at the corner of 4th and Madison Streets in Prospect Park. Hopper held Solometo in court on charges including indecent exposure, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, harassment, and depositing waste on a highway. The judge also approved an additional charge of lewdness. The video was shot by 17-year-old Greg Ferrari. Ferrari said he was driving to a friend's house when he saw the two women in a confrontation and pulled out his phone to start recording. "One of the people ended up going to the bathroom on the other's car." Said Ferrari on the witness stand. Accompanied by his mother the Interboro High School Junior took a break from classes to testify in the afternoon hearing. He admits he is becoming a bit of a celebrity from the attention his video has received. He was recently asked to have his picture taken at a graduation party. "It's pretty crazy. I mean it's something you'd never expect. I just got done school. I got called out of school for this" said Ferrari. Klayman argued in court that the charges against his client didn't meet the standard of what happened that day. He says both drivers are to blame. He also says since the video made the rounds on social media, Solometo and her family have been threatened. "It's traumatic because it's all over the media. There are people making t-shirts, hats. Threatening, making threatening comments. When we are talking about a person. Just because it's not your best day doesn't mean you should be harassed continuously", added Klayman. What's next The victim in the case did not testify on Monday. Solometo is due back in court for her formal arraignment on July 9.

Man Arrested After Trying to Tow a Car Backwards on a Highway

Towing a car is a fairly simple procedure. All you need is a suitable trailer and a vehicle with enough power to pull the weight. The driver of this Saab 9-3 Aero convertible only had one of those things. And it's landed him in jail. Police were called to Interstate 610 in Houston, Texas, on Monday for an improperly towed vehicle swinging in and out of lanes, causing a hazardous situation. Video taken from an onlooker shows the Saab droptop being pulled via chain by a white Ford Expedition, nearly striking other motorists. This situation is dangerous for a few reasons. Flat-towing—when a vehicle pulls another vehicle without a trailer—is a treacherous endeavor on its own. Done correctly, the vehicle being towed is supposed to face forward , not backward, so the front wheels don't have an opportunity to turn and cause a crash. That's nearly what happened here. No injuries were reported, thankfully. When officers finally caught up to the two cars, they ran the plates on the Saab and discovered its occupant, identified as 32-year-old Dante Brown, had a warrant out for his arrest in DeKalb County, Georgia. The driver of the white SUV, identified as Brown's girlfriend, was not taken into custody. Take this video as a lesson: If you absolutely need to tow a car, at least take the proper precautions. Otherwise, you might go viral and end up on national television (and in jail).
