I've tried 100s of summer dresses — here are 7 I'm wearing on repeat
There is nothing I own more of, wear more frequently or feel my best in than a summer dress. Between May and September, you will rarely see me donning anything other than a sundress. I own more than I (and my bank account) would like to admit, but in my defence — I wear the heck out of them. Because I'm an absolute sucker for a summer dress (they're a need, not a want!), I've gone ahead and shared the maxi, midi, and mini dresses I have been wearing on repeat this summer. From wedding guest-friendly frocks to breezy, heat wave-friendly looks, these are my editor-approved dresses for summer. FRNCH Pauline Afternoon Tea Dress There is very little I don't like about this chic FRNCH Pauline Afternoon Tea Dress from Simons. It's so easy to dress up or down and it pairs well with sneakers, sandals and heels. The one thing I'll note is that I wish I had sized down. I wear size six and ordered the dress in a medium. It's not overwhelmingly large, but it would have fit better as a small. $70 $205 at Simons Babaton Fluid Dress I know I'm biased, but I think the Babaton Fluid Dress is so, so, so chic. It has a contour bodice and a fit-and-flare skirt made from 100 per cent cotton poplin that I find so flattering. I wear this dress on repeat and will likely sport it for years to come thanks to its timeless design. I ordered a size medium and it fits true to size. $138 at Aritzia Twik Lace Trim Floral Dress This floral midi dress has become one of my most-worn styles when the temperatures hit 30°C and above — which, considering what a sweltering summer it has been, has been quite often. You can wear it with or without a bra (which I love), and it doesn't wrinkle, so it's a great choice for those of us who hate ironing. I ordered it in a medium and it fits true to size. $69 at Simons Wilfred Marmion Linen Dress My brother is getting married in August, and thus, I have tried on my fair share of wedding guest dresses. Although I didn't end up choosing the Marmion Linen Dress, I still think it's a chic pick for a summer wedding. It's made from breathable 100 per cent organic linen with an off-the-shoulder ruffled neckline. I'm wearing it in cognac, but it comes in four other colours. I ordered it in a size six, but I could have sized down. From $101 at Aritzia Reformation Balia Linen Dress If you're in the market for a va-va-voom dress, Reformation's Balia Linen Dress is it. It gives waist. It gives bust. It snatches and it conceals. I've worn it on dates, nights out and even to the office. This is your wear-everywhere dress of summer 2025. I have a size six and it fits true to size. $398 at Reformation Wilfred Priscilla Dress Please ignore my snail-like installation of my peel-and-stick wallpaper and instead focus on the star at hand: Wilfred's Priscilla mini dress. I am truly and utterly obsessed with this polka dot mini. It's made from a lightweight, semi-sheer fabric that is both ultra flattering and comfortable. My polka dot print is almost sold out, but Aritzia shoppers can still grab it in a few more colours (but hurry!). I ordered a size medium and it fits true to size. From $83 at Aritzia Twik Tie-Strap Tiered Dress I love how girlie this pink maxi dress is. I ordered a medium, which fits my size six frame perfectly. If you don't like wearing bras during the summer, you can get away without wearing one in this dress, too. $89 at Simons

I'm 5ft3 & a size 12/14 – my 7 Tesco dresses are an absolute bargain & perfect for a last-minute wedding guest outfit
A FASHION fan has revealed the seven finds from Tesco that are perfect for a last-minute wedding guest outfit. So if you've got someone's special day coming up round the corner and have no clue what to wear, fear not, you've come to the right place. 8 8 8 Christina Mitsi, a content creator from the UK, shared her candid thoughts on seven outfits from F&F, which are not only affordable but incredibly flattering too. The 5ft3 fashionista is a size 12/14 and posted her haul on social media with the caption 'If you're after budget wedding guest dresses then F&F Clothing at Tesco have a lovely selection at the moment and all under £36!' As part of her recent wedding guest dress series, Christina gave her followers a close-up look at the new-in supermarket buys, as she said: 'Wedding guest dresses from Tesco - yes, Florence and Fred have a lovely selection this year. 'None of these are above £36 - absolute bargain.' To kick off her haul, she modelled a blue and white floral frock, as she beamed: 'First of all, we've got this lovely blue one with the flowers. I thought the shape of this, the neckline in particular, is lovely. 'I love the puff sleeves, I think it's really nice and stretchy at the back.' Next up, Christina tried on a black and white maxi dress, as she explained: 'This one as well is a size 14 and I think this is perfect for me - the back is absolutely gorgeous. 'The length as well is actually really good, I'm only 5ft 3in so this will be a little bit shorter if you average size, but I love this one. 'It's black and cream but I still think it's wedding appropriate - and a lovely neckline there, not showing too much, lovely.' Following on from this, Christina was left beaming with a long-sleeve floral dress, as she continued: 'Look at this - perfect for twirling. I'm a size 14 and did the best Tesco summer haul - run before new co-ord sells out 'I know it's black, but because there's so much pink and green in it, it is like a really nice colour. The ruffles make it ever so fancy and nice. 'This is one of the £36 ones, the rest were a lot cheaper as well, some even in the sale. 'Lovely one this one. The length is really good on me.' She then modelled a 'gorgeous' sleeveless top and a maxi skirt, as she shared: 'So this is a skirt and the top separately - beautiful. "I think together in the same colour, it would be gorgeous. I really, really liked this.' And that wasn't all, as Christina then tried on a floaty mini dress, as she acknowledged: 'This one was lovely, I love how floaty this is, look at the arms. 8 8 8 'It makes you feel ever so floaty and feminine and nice, and I love that it's a little bit longer at the front than the back. 'Something a little bit different and really nice and comfortable to wear.' The bargain hunter then shared her honest thoughts on a tiered dress, which will set shoppers back £36. 'To be honest it was a bit hard to get into it first because it has a tight dress underneath it. Wedding Guest Outfit Etiquette If you're struggling to decided on a dress to see you through wedding season, here's a few rules on what not to wear so you don't get in trouble. Folklore says that wearing red at a wedding means you slept with the groom. Casual attire like jeans and flip flops should always be avoided. Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream - even if it's not. Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered. Wearing white is a massive no-no if you're not the bride. 'It does give a lovely figure, everything's sort of sucked in and in place and nice. 'The colour I think is just a little bit ageing for me and doesn't really go with my skin tone, but it's still a lovely shape dress and I think this would suit a lot of people,' she reflected. And finally, Christina looked gorgeous in the viral satin polka dot frock, as she concluded: 'Finally - I know what you're all gonna say, you can't wear white to a wedding, but I couldn't resist getting this one as well. 'As a lovely polka dot dress, I think this is gorgeous.' 8 8 Fashion fans beam The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @ christinatmitsi, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 239,700 views in just 24 hours. Not only this, but it's also amassed 3,695 likes, 276 comments and 367 saves. One person said: 'I like the polka dot one and the blue first one. You are an amazing model for us shorter girls, it gives a true reflection of what flatters our shape and size. 'Nice not to see a tall skinny girl modelling the clothes, that's no good to us.' Another added: 'Christina these are some of the nicest dresses you have tried on. Number one is my favourite.' A third commented: 'They all looked lovely on you. My favourite on you was the pinky coloured dress.' Meanwhile, someone else beamed: 'These are really pretty and you really suit them.' Unlock even more award-winning articles as The Sun launches brand new membership programme - Sun Club Hottest fashion trends of 2025 Fabulous' Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend shares the biggest trends from the high street. The East/West Bag Baguette bags have had a good run, after returning from the 1990s' shoulders of Sarah Jessica Parker to modern-day fashion icons, like Hailey Bieber. In 2025, the East/West bag is a similar but elongated shape and has long, thin straps that are easy to throw over your shoulder. They've been on runway models' arms at nearly ever designer show - think Burberry, Givenchy and Bottega Veneta - and are hitting the high street now, too. Powder pink Bright fuchsia pink had its day after the release of Barbie in 2023 and now the more polished and expensive-looking pale shade is taking over for 2025. Pantone may say that it's the year of Mocha Mousse, but the catwalks say otherwise! From Prada to Erdem, the subtle look was all over the spring/summer catwalks, worn head-to-toe or on its own. If the sugary shade is too girly for you, then look to sharp suiting for a androgynous take on the colour. The shell jacket The '80s classic is back, but with a sleek and minimal new twist for 2025. We all know we're likely to see rain for most of spring, so your practical coat of choice should be a cagoule jacket. Depop revealed one of its big trend predictions for this year is retro sportswear, with surges already seen in '80s windbreakers'. Seen everywhere from the stylish streets of Copenhagen to the Miu Miu catwalk, now mums who have an emergency raincoat crumpled underneath their pushchair are very much in fashion! The turn-up jeans While the shape of jeans remains the same for this year and barrel-legs will still be everywhere, the way we're styling them is different. This season, transform your wide-leg, baggy denims into turn-ups. For this look, size doesn't matter, so while deep turn-ups are a hit from jean trend-leaders Citizens of Humanity, a slight fold is still just as good - but only as it's just one single fold. Peep-toe shoe Get your pedicures booked in sharpish, as this season your toes are the main event. After a long hiatus, the peep-toe has been welcomed back into the fashion fold, with brands like Hermes, Miu Miu and Tory Burch showing plain and embellished footwear in this style. From mules to pumps and clogs (yes, clogs will be around too!), there are lots of different styles that are set to sweep the high street. Sheer blouses See-through looks have always lived on the catwalk, but have rarely filtered into everyday life - until now. Designers Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford loved sheer looks on their S/S '25 catwalks and M&S even had sellout success with its black sheer pencil skirt last season. Expect to see more sheer looks lining supermarket aisles and high street shops in the form of skirts, tops and frocks.

Groom's ‘attention-seeking' sister shamed for wearing white to his wedding – then bizarrely claiming it's ‘sage green'
A WOMAN has left the internet outraged after claiming her white bridal dress was actually sage green. Looking at the dress, you would mistake her for the bride, but she was actually the groom's brother's girlfriend. 3 3 3 One gobsmacked wedding guest decided to share pictures of the sister's outfit online to call the sister-in-law out. In the post, the wedding guest revealed that the dress code was ' summer pastel chic.' That meant many of the guests came in butter yellow, soft pinks and lilacs. But one guest took the pale colour-scheme too far when she turned up in an off-white gown. While she claimed the dress was sage green, many argued it was far too pale to be able to tell. In the pictures, her dress looked off-white and to top it off, had a very bridal structure to it. The dress had a sweetheart neckline, off the shoulder sleeves, and a tight corset top decorated with delicate flowers. The skirt came down to the floor showing a glimpse of her sage green heels. She was also spotted holding a white veil throughout the wedding. The Reddit post read: "The dresscode was summer pastel chic, so think Easter colours. "The gf (girlfriend) of the groom's brother wore a sage green (wedding) dress that in no way, shape or form appeared to be sage green, or any other colour. "The veil she's carrying was the flower girl's (her daughter)." Shockingly, it turns out that this was not the first time one of the wedding guests had asked to wear something inappropriate at the wedding. "This was after the MIL had asked the bride if she could wear a white jumpsuit to the wedding, to which the bride obviously said no," they continued. The Reddit thread soon went viral and people were furious at the 'attention-seeking' sister. One person wrote: "Wow, that's very bridal." Another commented: "Are you joking? I thought the first photo was the bride's dress for comparison. Unless my phone screen is f**ked, I cannot understand how that is remotely green. How rude." "Is she roleplaying a bride since her bf hasn't married her yet?" penned a third. Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream - even if it's not. Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered. Wearing white is a massive no-no if you're not the bride. "Some guests did think that she was jealous because she has kids with the groom's brother but no ring yet," replied the poster. Meanwhile a fourth said: "Ok that's fully a wedding gown ma'am. Couldn't even let her have one day huh?"

The entire time, the bride was screaming, 'He ruined my wedding.'" —jilliankelly34 3."We were attending a wedding at a nice venue, and the groom came down during the reception wearing a full Spider-Man costume, did a weird dance, and essentially gave the bride a lap dance in the middle of the dance floor." "It was so uncomfortable to do/watch in front of both of their families." —atnat1 4."My uncle was getting married, but everyone in my family hated his fiancé. Right before their wedding, my grandma's (uncle's mom) phone died, and his fiancé had a charger." We found out the fiancé had been cheating on my uncle for eight years." — 5."The father of the groom got up to give a toast, which ended up being a six-page apology to his first wife (the groom's mom), practically begging her to take him back…while standing next to his new wife." —taylorgateskelly Related: 6."The bride and groom grew up extremely religious. So, after their ceremony, they drove off in their truck, and we all had to wait until they returned. They were DISHEVELED when they came back." —tortor_e 7."Not me, but a friend of mine attended a mutual friend's wedding. During the reception, a guest got up from the table and punched the bride." My friend said she had to flee the reception." —copyright732 8."I was the bridesmaid in a Star Wars-themed wedding. We had to FIGHT the wedding party with light sabers." "This was not disclosed to us until five minutes before our entrance." —lilrn93 9."At the rehearsal dinner, the groom's mother wrote the bride a letter and signed it 'The original Mrs. (last name).' THEN the groom and his mother danced to 'Bubbly' by Colby Caillat at the wedding reception as their mother-son dance." —maddievause01 Related: 10."The bride was older and 'finally' getting married. She made all of the single women stand up (she called out anyone who didn't) and announced that she never thought she'd be married, so they shouldn't give up hope. Everyone clapped. It was humiliating." —terid614 11."This happened at a hotel I worked at when I wasn't on shift: The bride was part of a well-known criminal family (seriously bad stuff). On the wedding day, a rival family showed up uninvited and started shooting. Armed police had to end the situation, whilst staff were hiding under and behind furniture." —itsgoodtochalk 12."One of the groomsmen planned on asking his girlfriend of two months to marry him at the reception without asking the groom or bride beforehand. But fortunately (?) it didn't happen because they both got drunk and had a fist fight in the parking lot. (The girlfriend won.)" — 13."I was a bridesmaid with no plus one. The meal was open seating, yet there were NO open seats for me. It was buffet-style eating, but I wasn't sure when I was supposed to eat since I wasn't at a table, so I didn't eat, but I stood the entire reception to be supportive." "Once the music started, I gave the bride my love/congratulations before I left, and she cried while telling me that I ruined her day for leaving at nine o'clock. She hasn't spoken to me since." —kaymivvh 14."The bride had a cell phone-free wedding. The ceremony was one hour because the bride was running late, and we put our phones in the basket prior to sitting. We could not access phones at cocktail hour and weren't allowed to get them until dinner was over. I waited three and a half hours before I could get my phone and immediately left." —fromyouraccountant Related: 15."Didn't make it a bad wedding, but at my bestie's wedding, someone dressed up, pretended to be a guest, and tried to rob the cards that contained money. The groom is a cop, so he spotted him, and the police were called." —leaahhiggins 16."My cousin wanted a carnival-themed wedding with a limited budget. The DIY was impressive, but when I got there, my aunt (the mother of the bride) told me that my sister and I had the first shift running the cotton candy machine, and she forgot to tell me. Do you know how messy cotton candy is?" "I was churning out cotton candy to ungrateful guests when I looked around and noticed all of the family members were working carnival games and serving food to acquaintances of the couple. When I die, I have it in my will to make my cousin and aunt run a cotton candy machine at my wake." —thatlittlemom 17."My worst experience was my OWN wedding. We hired a restaurant to cater for 150 guests. Fewer than 100 people showed up. We told our caterers that a lot of people didn't make it, so they only served food once to our guests and took the rest home." "THEY rationed the food, and HID the rest from us! My husband and I didn't know this happened because we were too busy. Everyone just assumed we didn't pay for enough food." —orange_blisss 18."The groom said in his speech that the things he did in his past with his friends (us) were wrong and that he would be a new man now. We never saw him again." —mandydevisser 19."The couple had a Trump impersonator come and make a 15-minute speech IN CHARACTER, prior to the election. It was only cut off because the best man told him to stop. 'Trump' also stayed to dance. It was the weirdest thing I've ever seen." —lo_riderr Did any of these stories surprise you? I'm a size 22 and found the best day-to-night dress EVER during my food shop, it makes me so snatched & even has pockets
IT can be hard as a curvier woman to find outfits that are both flattering and comfortable. But one lady, who's a size 22, says she's found the perfect one - from her local Tesco. 3 3 Louise took to TikTok to share a video of herself in the £22.50 bright pink dress, which features a V-neck and tie at the waist. "I'm not even exaggerating when I say this is the most flattering dress that I've ever tried on," she said in the clip. "As soon as I put it on I could feel that my waist went completely in. "The colour is beautiful. This is cerise pink and obviously you've got a bow with it too." Another bonus of the dress is that it has pockets, and is perfectly cool to wear when it's hot outside. "It is so, so pretty," she continued. "I can't even emphasise how pretty this is. "Favourite dress of all time. Of all time!" She praised the "lovely" sizing of the dress, and said it would be perfect to wear as a wedding guest. "You look stunning & that colour on you is wow," one person commented on the video. My favourite outfit has been labelled 'frumpy & ageing' by cruel fashionistas, but screw them… I'll be buried wearing it "Just ordered it - hope it looks as good on me as it does on you!" "Oh my that colour… stunning!!" another added. "I think that pink is your colour, you look beautiful," a third wrote. "You're like a Barbie, and I love it," someone else commented. "Oops naughty I've ordered it!" another giggled. "Ps I usually wear black so you have convinced me lol!" How to dress in a heatwave SUMMER is finally here with temperatures soaring this weekend, but it has been so long since we dressed for the warmer weather - what should we wear? The Sun's fashion team is here to help with a cut-out-and-keep guide to heatwave attire. Clemmie Fieldsend and Abby McHale reveal the ultimate dos and don'ts so that you never suffer from unsightly tan lines, sweaty patches or wardrobe malfunctions again. Cover up While you might be tempted to put on your skimpiest outfit when the mercury rises above 25C, it has actually been proven that staying covered up can keep you cooler. We're not saying wear your winter coat and wrap up. You should wear a light breathable fabric such as cotton - look for flowy midi skirts, dresses or wide leg trousers which will billow and create a nice cool breeze for you as you walk. Prepare for extremes With our unpredictable weather, it's not uncommon to see either someone in hotpants with goose-pimpled legs after an unexpected downpour, or at the other end of the spectrum, someone still wearing their winter tights in 30C heat. When you're on the fence, opt for a loose co-ord that will keep you cool but not expose you to the elements if it rains. Wear shorts Yes, you can wear shorts - and at any age. The key is getting the length just right and longer shorts are all the rage this year. Short shorts are of course allowed but they won't make you any cooler. If anything, micro-shorts can make you feel hotter. Plus, they are wedgie inducing, often too tight and often show off rather too much bum cheek. Wear white White is not the easiest to keep clean but it is the best shade for a heatwave, and looks effortlessly chic. It doesn't absorb light like black but instead, reflects it. It's also a shade that never goes out of style. If you do get the odd suncream smear on your whites, quickly dab with hand soap and water, rub in with a brush and then wash as normal. Don't show bra straps Whilst everyone wants to wear strappy clothing in the summer, there really is nothing classy about your bra straps being on show - especially when they're the opposite colour to your top. Instead, if you are plumping for a strappy top, stick a strapless bra underneath. Don't attempt a boob tube The boob tube has got to be one of the most faffy and unflattering pieces of clothing you can own. Yes, you will avoid shoulder strap tan lines, but you will spend the whole day pulling your top up and trying to keep your boobs in place. Come evening, you will have grubby fingerprints all over and will have no doubt experienced the odd nip slip. Don't choose espadrilles Espadrille wedges were once Kate Middleton's go-to summer shoe but they have well and truly fallen off the fashion wagon. While noughties ballet flats are back, the espadrille is yet to have its revival. It's one of those fashion items that Gen Z won't be seen dead in, and have even dubbed 'the granny sandal'. For now, opt for a ballet flat or a sandal. Don't wear crochet The crochet trend is nice enough and while it looks great on the likes of Love Island presenter Maya Jama, it's simply not practical. If the sun is out, chances are, you'll end up with tragic tan lines like a mosaic. Plus, it's essentially knitwear - hot and itchy. For men, knitted polos have also crept into the fashion fold, masquerading as summer wear but they are made from synthetic materials and induce swear. Wear at your own risk. "You really suit that and your hair is stunning," someone else added. "Stunning as always.. I'm off to a wedding in August and my 40th, think this is a must, thanks lovely," another commented. The dress comes in sizes from six to 22, and also comes in black. "Made from pure cotton for a breezy feel, this puff sleeved dress is a holiday staple you need in your collection," Tesco said of the dress on their website. "Designed with a soft V neckline and flattering tied waist, it's a relaxed fit piece that you can wear by day or night. "Style up with statement jewellery and a straw clutch bag."
