CHENNAI: The state transport department will operate 1,070 special buses in addition to routine buses across Tamil Nadu from Friday to Sunday to clear the extra rush of passengers during the weekend and in view of the Aadi Peruku festival (Sunday, August 3). This includes 690 special buses operated from Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT) Kilambakkam in Chennai to Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Salem and Tirunelveli on Friday and Saturday. Additionally, another 110 buses would depart from Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT), Koyambedu, on these two days to Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur and Bengaluru, said an official release. Around 15,800 passengers had reserved bus tickets online, the release said, adding that others could book online on or on TNSTC mobile app.

CHENNAI: The state transport department will run 980 special buses in Tamil Nadu from Friday to Sunday to clear the extra rush of passengers. This includes 650 special buses to be operated from Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT) in Kilambakkam in Chennai to Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Salem and Tirunelveli on Friday and Saturday. Additionally, another 110 buses would depart from Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT) in Koyambedu on these two days to Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur and Bengaluru, said an official release. With more crowds expected to leave on Saturday, managers have been deployed at the new bus terminus to control the crowd and avoid chaos. Around 14,900 passengers have already reserved bus tickets online, the release said, adding that others can book online on or TNSTC mobile app.
