Delhi Restaurant Plasters 'All Indian Attire Allowed' Sign After Severe Backlash
Following severe backlash to reports of denying customers entry to the restaurant owing to their Indian attire, the Delhi-based diner has put up a fresh sign, clarifying its position. In a viral video, the staff of the Pitampura restaurant can be seen putting up two notices outside the building. One of the notices reads, "All types of Indian attire is allowed in the restaurant (saree, suit, etc). The second notice details various policies, including outside food, liquor, and management rights to ensure no further damage to the restaurant brand. Reacting to the restaurant plastering the notices, social media users commented that the owners had finally learned their lesson from the fiasco. "Better to paste the notice than be shut down," said one user, while another added, "The restaurant would have closed immediately. The owner finally understood." A third commented: "The restaurant owner has realised the power of social media. Kudos to the couple for standing their ground." See the viral video here: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Rohini wale (@rohini_walee) What happened? The incident took place last week when a couple sought entry into the restaurant. The video circulating on social media showed the man sporting a T-shirt and pants while the woman wore a kurta-salwar. While others were allowed entry, the couple alleged that the manager of the restaurant misbehaved with them and denied them entry, owing to their 'Indian' attire. As the clip went viral, Delhi cabinet minister Kapil Mishra took cognisance of the issue, stating that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had been apprised of the matter. In a subsequent post, Mr Mishra informed that the restaurant owners will no longer impose any attire ban on customers for entry to their establishment. "The operators of this Pitampura restaurant have accepted that they will no longer impose any restrictions based on attire and will welcome citizens coming in Indian attire. On Rakshabandhan, they will also offer some discounts to sisters coming in Indian attire," said Mr Mishra. रक्षाबंधन पर भारतीय परिधानों में आने वाली बहनों को कुछ डिस्काउंट भी देंगे 🙂 @gupta_rekha — Kapil Mishra (@KapilMishra_IND) August 8, 2025 Restaurant owner Neeraj Aggarwal rejected the allegations, stating that the couple had not booked a table, due to which they were denied entry. He said the restaurant has no attire policy, adding that all customers are welcome.

Delhi Restaurant Under Fire After Allegedly Denying Entry To Woman In Indian Attire, Owner Responds
A viral video circulating on social media has sparked debate around the dress codes enforced by certain restaurants and clubs. The video was reportedly shot outside Tubata, a restaurant located in Saraswati Vihar, Pitampura, Delhi. In the clip, a middle-aged couple is seen standing outside the restaurant, claiming they were denied entry. The reason, according to them: the woman was wearing a suit, and her Indian attire was allegedly against the restaurant's dress code. Watch the video here: See what is happening in Delhi restaurant Tubata in Pitampura. A couple was denied entry and not allowed to enter just because they were wearing Indian attire! — Rosy (@rose_k01) August 8, 2025 Kapil Mishra, Cabinet Minister in the Delhi government, shared the video on his official X handle and wrote, "This is unacceptable in Delhi. A video has surfaced showing a ban on Indian attire at a restaurant in Pitampura. This is unacceptable. CM @gupta\_rekha ji has taken serious note of the incident. Officials have been directed to investigate the incident and take immediate action." This is unacceptable in Delhi पीतमपुरा के एक रेस्टोरेंट में भारतीय परिधानों पर रोक का वीडियो सामने आया है ये अस्वीकार्य है CM @gupta_rekha जी ने घटना का गंभीरता से संज्ञान लिया है अधिकारियों को इस घटना की जांच व तुरंत कार्यवाही के निर्देश दिए गए हैं — Kapil Mishra (@KapilMishra_IND) August 8, 2025 In a follow-up tweet, Kapil Mishra posted videos of the restaurant owner Neeraj Aggarwal and manager Narender Singh, in which they issued clarification that their restaurant does not restrict entry based on dress code. Neeraj Aggarwal said, "All guests in all dress codes are welcome to our outlet. I invite people, whether from North India or South India, to our family restaurant and enjoy." The restaurant manager added that on Raksha Bandhan, they will also offer a 10 per cent discount and a complimentary dessert to women at their restaurant, irrespective of attire. Update : पीतमपुरा के इस रेस्टोरेंट के संचालकों ने स्वीकार कर लिया है कि परिधान आधारित कोई प्रतिबंध अब नहीं लगाएंगे व भारतीय परिधानों में आने वाले नागरिकों का स्वागत करेंगे रक्षाबंधन पर भारतीय परिधानों में आने वाली बहनों को कुछ डिस्काउंट भी देंगे 🙂 @gupta_rekha — Kapil Mishra (@KapilMishra_IND) August 8, 2025 The initial viral video has triggered outrage online, with many questioning why Indian clothing would be disallowed at a restaurant in India. One user commented, "Their dress code is like - no entry if you look like you actually belong to the country." Another wrote, "Please give one 1-star rating on Google Maps and see how they bend." A third added, "Some of our people are still colonised mentally." However, some users argued that the restaurant is within its rights to set its own rules. "We need to stop making an issue out of everything and grow up. That's a private restaurant, and they have every right to decide who enters and wears what. It's not public property that everyone can claim rights to. It does not mean they are disrespecting the attire," one user said. Another wrote, "What is the issue in this? Every restaurant has a dress code. Creating an issue of nothing. There are thousands more restaurants to visit." A third user added, "So? In Australia, some restaurants deny you entry if you are not dressed in formal attire. Even smart casuals are not allowed. And they do it regardless of ethnicity. It is the right of the restaurant to deny based on the dress code they have set."

Video: Delhi Restaurant Denies Entry To Couple For Indian Attire, Chief Minister Takes Note
A couple was allegedly denied entry into a Delhi restaurant for wearing Indian attire, with the video of the incident circulating on social media. In the now-viral video, the couple can be seen narrating their ordeal after being denied entry to the restaurant located in Delhi's Pitampura area. While others were allowed entry, the couple alleged that the manager of the restaurant misbehaved with them. The person recording the clip stated that the restaurant, which was not allowing people with Indian attire, had no right to function, adding that it should be shut down immediately. As the clip went viral, Delhi cabinet minister Kapil Mishra took cognisance of the issue, stating that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had been apprised of the matter. "This is unacceptable in Delhi. He said the restaurant has no attire policy, adding that all customers are welcome. The incident fuelled a debate on social media, with a section of social media users seeking action against the restaurant despite the CM's intervention. "Shut the restaurant down. And if it has any branches elsewhere, shut those down too. This very mentality has tormented us for years," said one user while another added: "A minister and CM had to be invovled for entry into a restaurant. What else the common man can hope for."

'Govt denies, distracts, lies': Congress slams Centre after SC raps Rahul
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Monday launched a sharp criticism of the Centre over its handling of the border situation with China. He accused the Modi government of following what he called a 'DDLJ' policy, an acronym for 'deny, distract, lie, and justify'. In a post on X, Ramesh said the Centre has been evading tough questions about the ongoing standoff with China, especially since the Galwan Valley clash in June 2020, in which 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives. 'Since June 15, 2020, when our 20 brave soldiers were martyred in Galwan, several critical questions have been arising in the minds of every patriotic Indian. However, over the past five years, instead of answering these questions, the Modi government has adopted a policy of hiding and deflecting the truth — which we can call DDLJ: Deny, Distract, Lie, and Justify,' he wrote. Ramesh's remarks came just hours after the Supreme Court pulled up Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his earlier claim that China had occupied over 2,000 square kilometres of Indian territory. — Jairam Ramesh (@Jairam_Ramesh) August 4, 2025 Referring to the disengagement deal signed between India and China on October 21, 2024, Ramesh questioned whether the agreement truly restored the pre-April 2020 status quo, as claimed by Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. He also sought clarity on whether Indian patrols now needed China's permission to access Patrolling Points that Indian forces had always accessed as part of India's territory. Ramesh cited earlier reports from 2020 that claimed about 1,000 square kilometres in eastern Ladakh, including 900 square kilometres in the Depsang area, had come under Chinese control. He demanded accountability from the government on this matter. Criticism over ties with China amid Op Sindoor Intensifying his attack, Ramesh questioned India's continuing diplomatic engagement with China despite reports of Beijing supporting Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. 'Is it not true that the Modi government is attempting to 'normalise relations' with a country that played a significant role in Pakistan's military actions during Operation Sindoor — providing Pakistan with weapon systems like J-10C fighter jets and PL-15 air-to-air missiles, and, as stated by Deputy Army Chief Lieutenant General Rahul R Singh on July 4, 2025, also providing 'live inputs' for Indian military operations?" he said in his post. SC criticises Rahul Gandhi for China comment While hearing a defamation case against the Congress MP, the court also granted interim relief by staying proceedings related to his remarks on the Indian Army during the 2020 Galwan clash. 'If you are a true Indian, you will not say these things,' the court told Gandhi, adding, 'Say things in Parliament, not on social media.' The Bench, comprising Justices Dipankar Datta and G Masih, reminded Gandhi of his constitutional responsibility as Leader of the Opposition. China issue evades media spotlight The case stems from comments Gandhi made in December 2022 during his 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'. Speaking at a press conference, he had said, 'Before I came to this press conference, I was having lunch with my friend and said I can bet that the media will not ask any question about China. They will ask about yatra, Sachin Pilot, Ashok Gehlot, everything but not China who captured 2,000 square km area of India, who martyred 20 jawans, who is thrashing our jawans in Arunachal. But the Indian press will not ask anything about this on me. Brother, desh dekh rahe hai. Don't think the country is not seeing.' (With agency inputs)
