Girard-Perregaux launches new Laureato 42mm timepiece

Since its debut in 1975, the Laureato has become an icon of fine watchmaking and to pay homage to this timeless symbol, Girard-Perregaux has unveiled the new Laureato 42mm with a breathtaking grey Grand Feu enamel dial. Image courtesy of Girard-Perregaux. Bearing a refined bluish blue, the enamel is composed of a precise mixture of silica, minimum, potash, and soda, finely ground into powder and combined with metal oxides to achieve its nuanced hue. To achieve its flawless, radiant surface, the mixture is layered carefully onto the dial then fired at around 800-degrees in a kiln. Image courtesy of Girard-Perregaux. In addition to the dial, the rest of the timepiece remains true to the Laureato design language, such as the distinctive octagonal bezel, set atop a circular plinth and tonneau-shaped case. Rhodium-plated baton hands mark the hours and minutes, while the slender central seconds hand features a counterweight inspired by the iconic Girard-Perregaux Gold Bridge — a discreet tribute to the Maison's horological DNA. Image courtesy of Girard-Perregaux. Every detail of the calibre also reflects Girard-Perregaux's rigorous standards such as the pink gold oscillating weight adorned with circular Côtes de Genève, straight Côtes de Genève on the bridges, mirror-polished screws, beveled edges, circular graining on the main plate, and gilded engravings. The Laureato 42mm with Grand Feu enamel dial is available now at all Girard-Perregaux retailers.

The Magic Touch: HONOR has the world's slimmest foldable smartphone again — meet the HONOR Magic V5

Foldable smartphones have been around for years, but recently, there appears to be a race to have the slimmest foldable in the market. The Honor Magic V5, freshly unveiled on July 2nd, has been making a compelling case for itself as the device that might just have cracked the code. The Honor Magic V5 is a luxurious foldable smartphone with the look and feel of a high-quality device. Honor's latest foldable flagship immediately distinguishes itself with its almost impossibly slender design. At a mere 8.8mm when folded, and an astonishing 4.1mm unfolded (for the Ivory version), the Magic V5 isn't just thin — it's a statement. It reclaims the 'world's thinnest foldable' title, a testament to the brand's engineering prowess. This isn't just about bragging rights; it fundamentally changes the in-hand feel. This foldable truly feels like a regular candy bar-style smartphone when closed, shedding the bulky perception that has plagued many of its predecessors. When folded, the device is just 8.8mm. Unfolded, it is 4.1mm. But thinness without substance is just a gimmick. Fortunately, the Magic V5 has the substance to back it up as a true flagship device. Underneath its sleek exterior lies the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform, and this is complemented by a generous 5,820mAh silicon-carbon battery — an impressive feat given the phone's dimensions; and with extended usage times, this is a significant leap forward for foldable battery life. In the box, there's a 66W charger that supports Honor SuperCharge — Honor's term for fast charging — and 50W wireless fast charging too. Durability, often a contentious point for foldables, is also a major focus for Honor. The 'Super Steel Hinge' is rated for over 500,000 folds, promising over a decade of daily use. Coupled with IP58 and IP59 ratings for dust and water resistance, and the 'Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield' on the outer display, the Magic V5 is positioned as a robust device designed for real-world scenarios. The internal screen even boasts a Non-Newtonian Fluid Material that hardens on impact and an AI-powered system to detect foreign objects, showcasing a comprehensive approach to protection. The beautiful display unfolded. The display experience is incredible too. Both the expansive 7.95-inch inner foldable OLED and the 6.43-inch outer OLED screens boast a buttery-smooth 120Hz refresh rate, 1.07 billion colours, and a decent brightness of 5000 nits. The crease is also noticeably less pronounced on the Magic V5 (compared to previous models). The triple-camera setup features an impressive 64MP Ultra Sensing Periscope Telephoto Camera with OIS, a 50MP Ultra Light-Sensitive Falcon Main Camera with OIS, and a 50MP Ultra-Wide Camera. There's also dual 20MP front-facing cameras on both screens for good-quality selfies and video calls, regardless of the phone's orientation. The rear triple camera system on the Honor Magic V5. Depending on the focal distance, the Magic V5 auto selects the most appropriate lens to shoot with; so you can go up close to an object and Macro mode activates. There's a Motion Sensing Capture function as well that shoots in burst mode, and in Portrait Mode, you can manually adjust the bokeh, or try AI Enhanced Portrait that sharpens subjects so you capture every detail. Not a fan of crisp pictures? There's a built-in Beauty filter where you can adjust how smooth you want your subject to be. South Beach Quarter, shot on Honor Magic V5. Roast Duck, shot on Honor Magic V5. Two Cyclists, shot on Honor Magic V5. Boots, shot on Honor Magic V5. Beyond the hardware, Honor has integrated AI deeply into the MagicOS 9.0.1 (based on Android 15) experience. The YOYO intelligent assistant offers a range of AI-powered features, from screen recognition and image editing to file search and memory management. The seamless cross-platform sharing with iOS, Android, HarmonyOS, Windows, and macOS is a further welcome addition, bridging ecosystems and enhancing productivity. The gorgeous case that comes in the box. The case has a useful built-in kickstand. The Honor Magic V5 feels like a mature, refined step forward for foldable technology. It's not just about pushing the boundaries of thinness; it's about delivering a cohesive, powerful, and durable device that genuinely elevates the foldable experience. If Honor can maintain this impressive balance of design, performance, and innovation in its global rollout, the Magic V5 will be the foldable that convinces a wider audience to embrace the future of smartphones. Singapore will be the first country outside of China to receive the Honor Magic V5. It will be available in four colours: Dawn Gold (featured throughout here), Ivory White, Silk Brown, and Black, all in a single configuration of 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage. The device is now available for pre-order at $2,199. Pre-order by 22 July to receive up to $837 in premium gifts — including a Honor Pad 10, Honor Magic Pen, and a 1-Year Extended Warranty — while stocks last. You'll receive the Honor Magic V5 by 23 July 2025.

MUJI introduces its gentle new skincare series formulated with natural ingredients to offer clean, effective care

A household name in Singapore, MUJI has been the go-to location for our daily essential needs and expanding upon this, the Japanese lifestyle brand has recently unveiled its newest skincare offerings that looks to seamlessly and easily integrate into our everyday routines. Image courtesy of MUJI. These two carefully developed series prioritises skin health without unnecessary additives, featuring carefully selected natural ingredients and gentle, skin-friendly textures that offer clean, effective, and value-for-money daily skin care. For a more complete care routine, MUJI has detailed a step-by-step guide on how you can use products from both the Booster and Sensitive Skin Series. Image courtesy of MUJI. With the global growing interest in fermented and rice-derived skincare, MUJI has joined the conversation with its own proprietary formulation that is rooted in simplicity and quality. At the heart of the Booster Series is MUJI's proprietary Fermented Rice Bran Extract that is crafted from rice bran produced in Yamagata, Japan, which is cultivated with mountain water that is rich in seven types of vitamins and eight types of mineral. Traditionally removed during rice polishing, the nutrient-dense layer of the rice brand is carefully transformed through a gentle fermentation process into a moisturising liquid that helps to refine your skin texture and boost hydration. Through fermentation, MUJI gives new purpose to the rice bran, along with its derived yeast extract and rice bran oil, to enhance the rice bran's moisturising properties. In an effort to ensure it is gentle for all skin types, the formulation is alcohol-free; a result achieved by refining the fermentation process and carefully removing alcohol after fermentation, and help to make it an effective yet gentle ingredient that supports the skin's natural texture and hydration. The Booster Series features two essential products namely the Booster Serum and the Booster Essence Lotion. Both of which have been designed to soften the outer skin layer and improve the penetration of toning water and other moisture-based elements. Booster Serum ($20.90) is one of MUJI Japan's top-selling items, offering a rich, water-free formula that contains over 65% Fermented Rice Bran Extract to give you firmness, elasticity, and deep hydration for dry or moisture-depleted skin. 'I found this particularly useful as part of my nighttime routine as I slept in an air-conditioned room. My skin would feel dry and I would have a dull complexion that looked as if I didn't have enough rest (even with 8 hours of sleep!). However, since using the Booster Serum, I have noticed a brighter complexion in the morning and lesser dry skin flakes when I put on my makeup,' said Jasmine, Senior Writer at NYLON Singapore. For those who prefer a lightweight texture, the Booster Essence Lotion ($5.90 for 50ml | $16.90 for 300ml) provides a light, refreshing formula that is infused with Fermented Rice Bran Extract and ceramides as moisturising ingredients for quick absorption. Suitable for oily or combination skin, all you'll need to do is apply the lotion with a portion that is about the size of a 10-cent coin and massage it onto your face. 'As someone who does not like using skincare in the night, I was surprised to find that I really liked using the Booster Essence Lotion because of its lightweight formula. Gone were the worries of having my skincare smeared onto my bed covers as the lotion was able to dry fairly quickly before I climb into bed,' said Jasmine. This series is free from harsh chemicals and is made with no colouring, no mineral oil, no synthetic fragrance. It is also paraben-free, alcohol-free, phenoxyethanol-free, and has undergone allergy and stinging tests to ensure gentleness on your skin. Get gentle, deeply moisturising care for all types of skin, including those with sensitive or easily irritated skin, with MUJI's Sensitive Skin Series which has been thoughtfully formulated with 100% natural ingredients. Ideal for first-time skincare users too, this low-irritation series is also free from synthetic fragrances, colourants, paragons, alcohol, and phenoxyethanol. Since sensitive skin often lacks ceramides, the series has been formulated with ceramides as a key ingredient to reinforce barrier function, helping to maintain your skin's natural barrier and to lock in moisture. The formulation also includes five types of amino acids to support moisture retention in your skin's outer layers, and three plant extracts which include the newly added Eucalyptus Leaf Extract and Dipotassium Glycyrrhizinate to help soothe and prevent skin roughness. Image courtesy of MUJI. Every product in the series has an important role to play in building you a complete and layered moisturising routine. The All-in-One Gel ($15.90) serves as a convenient one-step solution if you're looking for a quick and fuss-free skincare product, while a fuller routine for optimal hydration may include the Toning Water, Moisturising Milk, and Moisturising Cream. As every person has different skin needs, the Toning Water (from $4.90) and Moisturising Milk (from $4.90) are also available in three variations — Light, Moisture and Deep Moisture — giving you the ability to customise your preferred routine based on your skin's condition. If you've been looking for a beauty product that helps with the first step to clear skin, then MUJI's Pre Lotion is might just do the trick. Image courtesy of MUJI. Designed to remove impurities, the Pre Lotion ($15.90) acts as a gentle exfoliating lotion that is enriched with lactic acid to clear dirt and sebum from pores while helping to prepare your skin for the rest of your daily skincare routine. All you'll have to do is apply a small amount to a cotton pad and gently wipe your face after cleansing.
