AAP MP Raghav Chadha asks on X what topics to raise in Parliament. The responses will shock you

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member of Parliament (MP) Raghav Chadha on Wednesday sought suggestions on social media on what topics he should raise in the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. Chadha asked netizens to share suggestions in the 'Comments section' on X, as it might become the next big debate in the Parliament. 'I have always tried to raise those issues in Parliament that matter to you. This time too, I would like to know from you. What topics should I raise in the upcoming session of Parliament? Which issues deserve the nation's immediate attention?' Chadha, the Rajya Sabha MP asked. The Monsoon Session of Parliament will be held from 21 July to 21 August. After a break of over three and a half months, both houses of Parliament, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, are scheduled to convene on 21 July at 11 AM. 'Your suggestion could be the next big debate in the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament that starts from 21 July. Share your suggestions in the 'Comments section' below. Comment. Engage. Let's make it count!' the AAP leader wrote in the post. The Monsoon Session will be the first session of Parliament after Operation Sindoor, India's precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, mostly tourists. Raghav's post evoked interesting responses. While some wanted him to highlight the 'immense tax burden, especially on the salaried class', others were interested in cryptocurrency regulations. A user wanted the MP to raise the issue of ' taxes in the Stock Market'. An interesting suggestion was about making 'giving bribes legal but taking them illegal'. 'School fees should be capped at maxm ₹ 10,000 per month (sic),' a user said. Some users spoke about pollution, others mentioned the MP development funds. 'There is a nationwide problem of potholes on roads in every city of India. This needs to be sorted out ASAP,' a user said. In February, Chadha appreciated the Union government's initiative to launch Udaan Yatri Cafe, an affordable eating joint at the Chennai airport. A similar outlet was opened in Kolkata a few months ago. In the winter session of the Parliament, Chadha highlighted the issue of overpriced food and beverages at airports while discussing the Indian Aviation Bill 2024. Your suggestion could be the next big debate in the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. The Rajya Sabha MP raised the issue of expensive food items at airports and asked the government to introduce affordable canteens.

Delhi Court Imposes Rs 5,000 Fine on Somnath Bharti's Wife for Non-Appearance

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Wednesday imposed a Rs 5,000 fine on Lipika Mitra, wife of former Delhi minister Somnath Bharti, for non-appearance in a criminal defamation complaint against Union finance minister . The judge noted that during the last hearing, the date and time were fixed according to the convenience of both parties. "In view of non-appearance, a cost of Rs 5,000 is imposed on the complainant (Mitra) to be deposited with the Central Delhi Court Bar Association," the court said. Mitra filed a criminal complaint against Sitharaman before a court, accusing her of defamation. The complaint stems from alleged defamatory, false and malicious statements made by Sitharaman regarding Bharti and Mitra's marriage during a press conference held on May 17 last year. Mitra claims the remarks were widely aired by national television channels with the intention of damaging her husband's reputation and electoral prospects. The judge provided the last opportunity to Mitra to file a reply and address arguments and posted the matter for further proceedings on Aug 2. On June 26, Sitharaman told a Delhi court that AAP functionary Somnath Bharti cannot legally represent his wife in a defamation case due to conflict of interest. The counsel of the Union minister said Bharti could not appear in his own case and should withdraw his vakalatnama, failing which a reference ought to be made to the Bar Council of India for initiation of disciplinary proceedings against him. According to the complaint, the utterances were made "solely with an intent to hurt the complainant and her husband" for political gains to BJP's candidate and political loss to the complainant's husband during the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Sitharaman, it said, spoke about the matrimonial discord of the complainant and her husband but withheld the information of their reunion and living together happily.

No alliance at the top, but Congress, AAP discuss strategy ahead of Goa assembly session

Even though Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has announced that there would be no alliance with the Congress, local leaders of the two parties have come together to coordinate the opposition's strategy ahead of the monsoon session of the Goa assembly. The session will be held from July 21 to August 8. Congress and AAP MLAs attended a meeting called by Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on July 15, while the leaders of other opposition parties including the Goa Forward Party and Revolutionary Goans Party remained absent. "I convened a meeting with the opposition MLAs, including AAP MLAs Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva, and Congress's Carlos Alvares Ferreira and Altone D'Costa," Mr. Alemao said in a statement. The purpose was to draw up the opposition's strategy, he said. "The discussion was productive, with valuable inputs from MLAs Venzy Viegas, Carlos, Altone and Cruz on how to hold the BJP government accountable," said Mr. Alemao who belongs to the Congress. "We are united in our determination to protect Goa from the corrupt BJP government's clutches," he added. Congress MLAs have submitted over 750 Legislative Assembly Questions (LAQs) for the session, Mr. Alemao said. AAP Goa president Amit Palekar said to attend the meeting was the decision of the legislative wing of his party. The AAP and Congress have decided to demand accountability from the BJP government on the floor of the House, he said, adding that a collective strategy was decided for the sake of the people of Goa. In a joint statement issued on Tuesday (July 15, 2025), AAP MLAs Viegas and Silva said, "United we stand for Goa's justice. For meaningful change in the assembly, AAP and opposition parties must align their political and legislative wings. Common political discipline and collective action should happen."

Delhi L-G orders ACB probe into 'corruption' in Jai Bhim coaching scheme: Education Minister Sood

Lt Governor V. K. Saxena has ordered an ACB probe into alleged corruption in the Jai Bhim Pratibha Vikas Yojna during the tenure of previous AAP government in Delhi, Education Minister Ashish Sood said on Wednesday (July 16, 2025). Under the scheme, SC, ST and OBC students were provided free coaching at private institutes for various competitive exams, including that of civil services. In a joint press conference with SC/ST Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj, Sood alleged that a bill of ₹145 crore was prepared during Covid period in 2021-22 for payment to private coaching institutes. The Education Minister said the previous AAP government neither sought any list of students from the coaching institutes nor verified them. In a post on X, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, "Allegations of major financial irregularities have emerged in the 'Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojna' during 2020–21." She said that while the scheme had an official budget of ₹15 crore, the then AAP government allegedly pushed files with fake bills worth over ₹142 crore. "There was such corruption by the AAP government that even Dr Ambedkar's soul would be pained," Mr. Sood charged, adding that the L-G ordered the probe on recommendation of the Chief Minister. Mr. Sood said after the BJP government came to power, it sought a list of students from the coaching institutes which gave a figure of 13,000. "Even if it is assumed that all the students received coaching for civil services exam, for which the fee was ₹1 lakh, the total amount payable would be ₹130 crore," said the Minister. Mr. Indraj said that the matter is in the court and only 3,000 students have been verified to have received coaching.
