Disney Plus to release 'best ever' Marvel movie spin-off earlier than expected
The new and highly-anticipated superhero series is dropping on Disney Plus very soon. Streaming giant Disney Plus has revealed that the spin-off series for Marvel's blockbuster film is landing on the platform sooner than anticipated. Eyes of Wakanda, which continues the story from the smash-hit Marvel movie Black Panther and its follow-up Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is an original action-adventure series. Disney Plus has unveiled an explosive trailer for the fresh animated programme, created alongside Proximity Media's Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian and Kalia King. The series "follows the adventures of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history", according to Disney's official synopsis. It adds: "In this globe-trotting adventure, the heroes must carry-out dangerous missions to retrieve Vibranium artifacts from the enemies of Wakanda. They are the Hatut Zaraze and this is their story." This follows the series being revealed last month at Annecy International Animation Festival, reports the Express. Supporters have been stunned to discover that Eyes of Wakanda is premiering far earlier than anticipated, with all four episodes scheduled to arrive on Disney Plus on August 1, 2025. Posting on X, the social media site previously called Twitter, Marvel enthusiasts shared their delight about the fresh trailer. "Excited for this! ! WAKANDA defo needed more exploration," one posted, whilst another concurred: "The fans are excited for this." "Finally, more Wakandan lore to obsess over," a third viewer gushed, whilst another remarked: "Very much looking forward to this." Ryan Coogler's original Black Panther film, which holds a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, tells the tale of King T'Challa, played by the late Chadwick Boseman. The synopsis reads: 'After the death of his father, T'Challa returns home to the African nation of Wakanda to take his rightful place as king. 'When a powerful enemy suddenly reappears, T'Challa's mettle as king -- and as Black Panther -- gets tested when he's drawn into a conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. 'Eyes of Wakanda' Trailer Reveals More Of The Hidden Nation's Elite Espionage Team
Fans of the Black Panther should get ready to pounce because the debut trailer for Eyes of Wakanda , the four-episode Disney+ animation series produced by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, has just dropped. The Black Panther and his home nation of Wakanda have already been extensively explored in Black Panther (2018) and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), both directed and co-written by Coogler. This time, however, the animated show will pivot focus towards Wakanda specifically, exploring brave Wakandan warriors throughout history, as they engage in dangerous espionage missions to safeguard their nation's interests. The show will see our heroes, the Hatut Zeraze, travelling the world and liberating Vibranium artefacts from the wrong hands. Though the trailer does not reveal any new plot details compared to the teaser, new dialogue reveals that Wakanda has been sending out spies across the world to safeguard the secrets of Wakanda. Secrets that are, as put by a female Wakandan elder, 'essential to Wakanda's security'. Though the series looks to be introducing new elements in an otherwise standalone show that will suit casual viewers, long-term Marvel fans may also be excited to recognise aspects from the previous Black Panther films and other Marvel properties showcased in the trailer. From the energy-displacing Vibranium-powered technology that is used by various warriors in the trailer, to the appearance of the Dora Milaje, to even the exciting reveal of the new female Iron Fist voiced by Jona Xiao ( Raya and the Last Dragon ), the trailer is chock-full of interesting details for eagle-eyed fans.
