iPhone 17 series might feature a new, upgraded Dynamic Island with iOS 26: Report
The iPhone 17 series is expected to launch in the first half of September this year. Ahead of the launch, there are several rumours and leaks about the latest iteration of iPhones. The Dynamic Island in the iPhone 17 series is going to get a significant upgrade. It is expected to evolve over the next few years, as per leaks. Tipster Majin Bu shared several rendering and purported dummy units of the iPhone 17 with an extended camera bump and Apple logo in the usual place. 'I can reveal that the Dynamic Island is set for a significant evolution in the coming years. Apple appears committed to making it more functional and integrated, turning it into a key element of the user experience,' the tipster was quoted as saying in an interview with 'This development could mark a step forward in device interaction, but for now, I'll keep further details under wraps. Stay tuned to see how this innovation unfolds,' they further said, adding that the Cupertino-based tech giant is looking to make the Dynamic Island more functional and integrated. With the iPhone 17 series launching soon, it is likely that the Dynamic Island will also change. The feature was first seen on the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022; the Dynamic Island took the place of the notch that iPhones were previously known for. This notch housed the Face ID sensors and selfie camera. The Dynamic Island has good lock-screen capabilities and could get even better in the future. Several Android phone manufacturers have introduced features similar to Apple's Dynamic Island, with Realme's Mini Capsule being a notable example. Apple's main competitor, Samsung, also seems to think that the Dynamic Island is a useful little feature, as it's introduced something similar to it called the Now Bar in its 2025 Galaxy flagships. However, Apple can be quite secretive about its new phone releases, and nothing is certain until we see the new phones. The iPhone 17 series will reportedly be launched during the first week of September 2025.

Apple iPhone 17 Processor Will Beat Expectations, It's Claimed
Apple's next big release will be the iPhone 17 series. A new report about the processor on board reverses previous rumors — and it's good news. Apple iPhone 16 — will this year's model have last year's processor? The iPhone 17 series will be revealed in early September (read this for the exact expected date) and there have already been reports of a new Dynamic Island, a differently placed Apple logo, a bigger iPhone 17 Pro Max and faster recharge speeds (revealed by accident). But one rumor has persisted about the processor which the base iPhone 17 model will carry. Jeff Pu, a respected analyst at GF Securities, has previously said that the iPhone 17 will have the same Apple A18 processor found in the iPhone 16. That's unlike the other models expected this fall: the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and a new slim model rumored to be called the iPhone 17 Air. Those phones are believed to carry various versions of the Apple A19 and Apple A19 Pro chips. However, in a new investor note, spotted by MacRumors, Pu has now changed direction on this. "We now expect the iPhone 17 model to be equipped with A19 (vs. earlier expectation of A18)," Pu said in the note. This makes a lot more sense. Apple has on one previous occasion carried over a processor from one generation to the next, but the move raised concerns for some users. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro used the A15 Bionic chip, and this continued to the iPhone 14, while the iPhone 14 Pro housed the A16 Bionic. The introduction of the A19 across the board for the iPhone 17 range is promising. That said, Apple has an outstanding track record for delivering processors which are fast and reliable performers. So, whatever the name of the processor, it's likely to be up to the task. There's another reason why this report makes sense: if there is an entry-level iPhone 17e released next spring, it will be able to match the iPhone 17 with an A19 chip: putting an A18 chip in a phone released in 2026 might sound a bit old-fashioned.

Leaked case for iPhone 17 Pro again hints at a change you'll definitely notice
iPhone 17 Pro. | Image by Majin Bu As the iPhone 17 series launch gets closer, leaks are popping up more and more. We have already got a good idea about the color options, what tweaks are coming to the Dynamic Island and if you've been following the buzz, you probably know the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are set for a big design of the most talked-about changes is that massive camera bump on the back. Now, new photos have surfaced showing MagSafe cases for the iPhone 17 series and the ones for the Pro models reveal something new compared to what we've seen before. These images show a frosted MagSafe case with an open magnetic ring – designed to highlight the rumored new Apple logo placement on the Pro models. For comparison, there is a photo of the old full-circle MagSafe design, too, which really highlights the difference. You can clearly see that the new MagSafe design has a visible gap between the circle and the vertical line. | Image credit – Majin Bu The current MagSafe setup features a full circle above the vertical dash, but the new one has a gap, probably to make room for the Apple logo's new spot. Still, keep in mind, these are all leaks and rumors, even if they are from usually reliable sources. Apple could still surprise us with a cleaner, more polished look for the final iPhone 17 Pro models and hopefully, that's the case! Design aside, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are shaping up to be serious upgrades. A new 48 MP periscope telephoto lens is reportedly coming, which could mean up to 10x lossless zoom and a big step forward in low-light and long-range photography. That is a huge leap from the 12 MP snapper on the current Pro models. Selfie lovers have a reason to get excited, too – Apple is reportedly planning a big upgrade to the front-facing camera across the entire iPhone 17 lineup. According to recent reports, the company might double the resolution from 12 MP to 24 MP. That means the upcoming iPhones should deliver sharper selfies and cleaner video calls. iPhone 17 Pro: 10 new features Apple might introduce this year And it is one of those features that has been available on rival Android phones like the flagship Galaxy phones for quite a while, so seeing Apple catch up is a big deal. And of course, with Apple Intelligence and AI in general, RAM matters more than ever. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to be the first iPhones with 12 GB of RAM. That should make for smoother multitasking and a better AI experience across the board. iPhone 17 could feature 'significant' changes to the Dynamic Island — what we know
The iPhone 17 may not be expected to get major changes to its front camera cutout, but according to a new rumor it could be the start of a "significant evolution" that'll take place over the next few years. We've already heard some rumors the Dynamic Island could be redesigned on the iPhone 17. Now leaker Majin Bu has corroborated those claims in a new interview, stating that "Apple appears committed to making it more functional and integrated" Bu added that the changes "could mark a step forward in device interaction," but they're keeping all the details to themselves for the time being. Which is a little frustrating, but it's hinted that we may be hearing more details about the changes in the near future. The Dynamic Island will hit its third birthday later this year, and is probably due some kind of upgrade. It makes sense that the Dynamic Island would be undergoing some changes at some point. The iPhone 18 is expected to hide all the remaining Face ID sensors underneath the screen, leaving a simple circular cutout for the camera. Meanwhile the iPhone 20 is supposedly the first iPhone to offer an under display selfie camera — offering a true uninterrupted full screen. With no real cutout to go with it, the Dynamic Island is going to need to undergo some changes. So it makes sense that Apple might pre-empt the change and start getting the feature ready for the changes. Plus the Dynamic Island will hit its third birthday later this year, and is probably due some kind of upgrade. Though it isn't clear what kind of changes we could expect right now, I'd hope that any changes do come with some extra functionality. Naturally we won't find out for sure until the iPhone 17 launch event, which is now expected to happen during the week of September 8.
