Hey Microsoft, is it ‘Xbox PC' or ‘Xbox on PC'?
Microsoft first started using the 'Xbox PC' term in a blog post announcing the Gears of Wars remaster in early May. It was a new branding effort designed to signal that games are available on PC through its own Xbox PC app and store. The Xbox PC branding didn't last long though, as Microsoft has now started using 'Xbox on PC' instead. Which one is it, Microsoft? The Xbox PC branding has been picked up by third-party publishers, with Focus Entertainment using it for a gameplay trailer in early June. Then on June 25th Microsoft introduced the Xbox on PC branding for its Hellblade II Enhanced announcement, but confusingly used both Xbox PC and Xbox on PC in the same blog post. Xbox game studio World's Edge used the Xbox PC branding for its trailer of an Age of Mythology: Retold expansion in June, and then swapped to the Xbox on PC branding in a preorder blog post yesterday. Grounded 2 was also announced last month as an Xbox PC title, before an early access trailer debuted yesterday and also switched to the Xbox on PC branding. I wrote last month in my Notepad newsletter that calling the Xbox app on Windows simply Xbox PC was a clear bid to position it as a Steam competitor or alternative. The Xbox on PC branding isn't too different, but it's a subtle change that makes it sound more like you're getting Xbox games on PC rather than needing some kind of Xbox PC hardware. Both of these brands have challenges, though. Microsoft rebranded its Xbox Game Pass for PC subscription to just PC Game Pass four years ago because people were getting confused. There has always been an inherent conflict with Microsoft's efforts to bridge PC and Xbox, because the experiences are often so different. That's something Microsoft is now trying to change, especially as it heads towards its next generation of Xbox consoles that look set to lean further towards Windows than ever before. Microsoft is combining Windows and Xbox for handheld PCs later this year, and we'll hear more about that effort at Gamescom next month. I think the Xbox PC branding is just a little too early, and that's probably why it has changed to Xbox on PC in a matter of weeks. It's a similar situation to how Microsoft used its 'this is an Xbox' marketing campaign months before it started to make sense. Microsoft is attempting to redefine the Xbox brand as a platform that spans across phones, laptops, TVs, handheld gaming PCs, and even VR headsets. There are plenty of challenges to overcome to make that a reality, and let's hope Microsoft avoids some Windows Mobile-esque branding changes in the process. New PS5 RPG IP Is 50% Off on PS Store for 1 More Day
The PS Store always has some great deals on some of the best PS4 and PS5 games. This includes this new IP from Don't Nod and Focus Entertainment. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is currently 50% off on the PS Store. That brings the price down to $29.99 instead of its typical $59.99 price tag. Players will have to act very fast if they want to take advantage of this deal. The offer ends on June 12 at 2:59 a.m. ET. 'New Eden, 1695. Antea Duarte and Red Mac Raith are lovers and Banishers, ghost-hunters who vowed to protect the living from the threat of lingering ghosts and specters,' reads the game's description. 'Following a disastrous last mission, Antea is fatally wounded, becoming one of the spirits she loathes. In the haunted wilds of North America, the couple desperately searches for a way to liberate Antea from her new plight.' Players who end up liking Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden can get some costume DLC for less than $5. Specifically, the Wanderer Set DLC is just $3.99 on the PS Store. When Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden launched early last year for PS5, it was met with somewhat favorable reception. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it received an average score of 78 across 68 critic reviews. Although Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is just one of many games developed by Don't Nod. One of its most recent releases, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, is available for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers at no additional cost. It also revealed its next game, Aphelion, during this year's Xbox Games Showcase. ‘Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine' is Finally Getting a Remaster
A year after its sequel arrived, the original Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is coming to modern gaming. The definitive, 'Master Crafted Edition' of the third-person shooter comes of port developer SneakyBox. Producer Vaidas Mikelskas described the update as a 'thoughtful restoration […] a respectful dialogue between past and present, preserving what made the original special while making it shine for a new generation of players.' Along with graphical updates and a modern UI and control scheme, this new Space Marine provides a visual update to the Orks to make them more in line with their current visual identity in the franchise canon, and 'over 100' new voice lines. Originally developed by Relic Entertainment, the first Space Marine released in 2011 to generally positive reviews. It had two planned sequels, but those fell apart when the game's publisher THQ closed down. Sega subsequently gained its publishing rights upon acquiring Relic two years later, and re-released the game on PC back in 2021. Later that year, Saber Interactive revealed it would develop the sequel for publisher Focus Entertainment, which released to pretty strong reviews in 2024 and has its own followup in the works. Rights for the first Warhammer 40K: Space Marine remain with Sega, which currently hasn't announced a PlayStation 5 version of the Master Crafted Edition. So if you're interested, you'll have to buy it on PC or Xbox Series X|S, or play via Xbox Game Pass, on June 10.

RoadCraft co-op mode: How to invite or join friends

Whether you are racing, creating havoc, or building, the multiplayer option makes experiences much wilder. While it offers thrilling teamwork, setting up the sessions needs a few important steps. The guide here will simplify how you can join friends or invite them to join you. Follow it to the end. How to host or join RoadCraft co-op mode ? Roadcraft How to cross-platform multiplayer To play with the friends, a player must host the session, while the others can join using the invite code. However, first, ensure that all of the players have their saved files and have progressed past the initial setup. Then, the host can head to the pause menu and to the Multiplayer tab. Next, select the option Host Session and adjust the player slots or the permissions. After all things are finalized, the game will generate the unique Invite code. Share it with your friends to let them connect to your world directly. The friends can easily join by first entering the Multiplayer section and choosing the Join session. Once done, they can paste the code, and that's all. If, by chance, the game gets stuck during loading, the quick restart will possibly fix the issues. Remember, only 4 players can join the session in one go, and the crossplay is completely supported.
