FIFA Adds Team Songs, Fan Chants to the Club World Cup
FIFA has announced that every team in the tournament will have its official anthem played before matches. That includes Wydad Casablanca, who are in a tough group with Manchester City, Juventus and Al Ain. Each club has been asked to send in an anthem that reflects its history and identity. The idea is to create a more personal and exciting pre-match atmosphere for both players and fans. That's not the only change. For the first round of group games, teams will also get to pick a club legend or their current captain to announce the starting line-up over the stadium speakers. And there's more. FIFA is also bringing back Freed from Desire – the '90s hit that became a terrace anthem after Wigan fans gave it a football twist in 2016. The song will play in every match and be part of the tournament's broadcasts. 'Fans made this song a football classic,' FIFA said. 'We want to honour that.' The tournament will kick off with a big opening ceremony next Saturday at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium. The show starts at 7:15 p.m. local time (just after midnight in Morocco) and will feature performances from the Moroccan rapper French Montana and Swae Lee. The concert will be streamed live and free on DAZN and marks the start of what FIFA says will be the biggest Club World Cup yet, with 32 teams playing across 11 cities in the US. But it's not just about music and festivities. The opening and halftime shows will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million to help children around the world get access to quality education and football. One dollar from every ticket sold will go to the fund. 'We're going to bring the world together for a beautiful moment,' said singer Tems, who joins J Balvin and Doja Cat for the final's halftime show. Tags: Club World CupDoja CatFIFAFrench Montana

Cork's Saturday-night fight all right for Pat Ryan as thoughts turn from Munster glory to Croke Park
Freed from Desire has curiously become an anthem of choice for two of Limerick's Munster rivals. Clare celebrated to the strains of Gala's 1997 dance banger when they beat Kilkenny in last year's semi-final and the Cork fans belted it out on the pitch at the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday night, as the public announcer pleaded for the Rebels stand-in captain Shane Barrett to come and collect the Mick Mackey Cup. In the end, regular skipper Rob Downey, who came off the bench - despite a knee injury - to help contain the sizeable threat of Gearóid Hegarty, fought his way through the delirious hordes to do so. Glory days, after all, to win a first Munster in seven years. But Cork manager Pat Ryan seemed to have Elton John's classic 'Saturday night's alright for fighting' in mind when asked how his team had managed to turn a 16-point round-robin loss into a historic penalty-shootout provincial title victory. "It was an honour for us to come up here and fight," he said. "We didn't fight the last time we came up here and the lads worked really hard, we fought really, really hard. It was vital that we represented the jersey properly and we did. "From the throw-in, we were engaged. You have to put really, really good teams under pressure and you take your chances, whether you win or not. "We were missing a couple of fellas, a couple of bodies came on and sometimes that actually freshens up the team. "I suppose the key thing was that the guys stayed composed and responded when Limerick had the goal to go ahead [Shane O'Brien's in the 46th minute]. "It took penalties to separate us and we're just delighted to get the trophy." "The referees are all doing their best" There was almost a fight at half-time as well, the two management teams squaring up as they both sought to engage referee Thomas Walsh, presumably both feeling hard done by in terms of frees awarded. To be fair to 'Tyler', he had been equally stingy - just three each, and only one of Limerick's was scoreable. What had Ryan been so keen to express? "Just to say he was doing a great job! "We're all fighting tooth and nail for the calls. The game is so fast. Thomas is a fantastic referee. We're fighting for calls. John Kiely's fighting for calls. That's just the nature of it. "The referees are all doing their best. In fairness, there were a couple of calls that we went against but I heard John shouting for plenty of scores that didn't go his way. That's just the game. "Credit to the officials. James Owens came on then [when Walsh got cramp in extra-time], which is tough for him, but he did a good job as well." Cork's last experience of extra-time had ended in All-Ireland heartache against Clare but last night they overcame the early concession of two points to keep it tight until Darragh Fitzgibbon's last-gasp, equalising 65. "We were definitely calmer, to be honest with you," reflected Ryan. "The last day against Clare, there were three or four fellas with cramps and injuries and you were saying, 'Will we bring them off or will we stick with it?' That made life a bit easier. [Substitutes] Robbie O'Flynn, Tommy O'Connell (0-01), Shane Kingston (0-03), I thought they were really, really good. Having the ability to bring on Niall [O'Leary] and Rob [Downey, both deemed not fit enough to start] was huge." Declan Dalton (hamstring) and Ger Millerick (broken finger) were absent today but Ryan is confident they can return with the four-week gap to the semi-final. The penalty shootout in full: Had Cork spent time practising penalties as a group before what was the first provncial or All-Ireland shootout? They only missed one to Limerick's three in a 3-2 victory. "None," insisted Ryan. "All the lads are practising a lot [individually], I think. We had really, really good confidence in them. [Full-back] Eoin Downey probably practised more penalties than anyone. He's really talented. "But, look, that's [goalkeeper Collins] Patrick's job and Patrick did a job for us." From All-Ireland favourites after winning the league, to written off after that hammering, hopes will be rising on Leeside again that the record wait for Liam MacCarthy will extend no longer than 20 years. Thought feet inside the camp will remain firmly on the ground. "If we played that game ten times over, it would probably be a different result every time," observed man of the match Fitzgibbon after a match that was level a staggering 15 times. His manager is well aware of the distance that remains to the ultimate goal, with a semi-final against old rivals Tipperary, the Joe McDonagh runners-up, or the beaten Leinster finalists to come on 5 July. And who knows, maybe even a third match against opposition who were seconds away - too many in Kiely's opinion - from winning seven Munsters in a row. "We won by penalties against a brilliant Limerick team," said Ryan. "This is just one thing. We move on to the All-Ireland series, the semi-finals. "It's probably going to take a bit of managing now. That's your four weeks off to manage properly and probably get a bit of advice from fellas that have done it before. That's something that we haven't accounted for before. Limerick have plenty of experience of how they deal with that. "We know we're a really good team. We saw what we were like when we were not at it three weeks ago. That's all to play for. We're really looking forward to going to the Leinster final tomorrow."

All the Love Island contestants who are now married as Dani Dyer ties the knot in Bridgerton-style wedding
This weekend, Love Island's Dani Dyer got hitched to West Ham's Jarrod Bowen. The pair said "I do" in a Bridgerton style wedding surrounded by their closest friends and family, including Dani's dad, actor Danny Dyer. The Only Way is Essex star Georgia Kousoulou was in attendance on the day, sharing photos from the dance floor with Dani and another friend. Love Island's Georgia Steel also attended the big day and shared a photo of her and Dani hugging on her Story. The 28-year-old joins several other former Islanders who have got married since leaving the show. From Olivia and Alex Bowen, who were the first couple from the show to tie the knot, to Zara Holland who is now happily married to Elliot Love, here's all the Love Island stars who are now married. Dani Dyer got married to footballer Jarrod Bowen in an lavish ceremony on Saturday 31st May. The bride and groom were joined by their family and friends at the luxury five-star Langley Hotel in Buckinghamshire. Dani wore two dresses for the occasion - a £10,000 designer gown by Suzanne Neville for the ceremony and a short lace number for the reception. The fun was kicked off by Dani's father, Danny Dyer, who led a wedding breakfast chant of the rude West Ham anthem: "Bowen's on fire and he's sh***ing Dani Dyer," to the 1997 hit "Freed from Desire". Olivia (nee Buckland) and Alex Bowen were the first couple from the show to get married, after meeting on season two in 2016. Alex proposed in 2017, and they tied the knot the year later. They are now proud parents to a son named Albie, and have a second child on the way. Love Island season two winners got engaged two years after leaving the show and tied the knot in June 2019 at the Preston Court, near Canterbury. They're now parents to two children - Freddie-George, born in 2017, and Delilah, born in 2020. Season three's Olivia Attwood got married to her longterm boyfriend and footballer Bradley Dack in June 2024 at luxury five-star hotel, Bulgari in Knightsbridge. You may recognise Sam Bird as the guy Georgia Steel coupled up with after Josh Denzel came back from Casa Amor with Kaz Crossley. Things didn't work out with G after the show, but no skin off Sam's back as he's now happily married to Kailah Casilas. Following their 2020 engagement, the pair eloped in Gibraltar in March 2022. One of our fave love stories to come out of Love Island belongs to Jamie Jewitt and Camilla Thurlow. Cam had been struggling to find love in season three, until Jamie walked in at the last minute. They're now married with three children - Nell, Nora and Brodie. The pair got married at the courtyard in Gosfield Hall in Essex. Their guests then moved into the stunning dining room, which was decorated with cherry blossom trees and rose-filled flower arrangements. Season three early leavers, Dom Lever and Jess Shears, proved that they're more than just a showmance, officially tying the knot just over a year after appearing on the show. The pair got married in a romantic ceremony in Mykonos, Greece - eight months after a mock wedding on Good Morning Britain. Love Island starts on ITV2 on Monday 9th June at 9pm.

Danny Dyer fights tears as he enjoys emotional first dance with daughter Dani
Former Love Island star Dani Dyer has tied the knot with her love Jarrod Bowen - and her famous dad Danny was there to give her away before the father-daughter duo enjoyed the first dance Dani Dyer shared a very special first dance with her famous dad before his speech as the father of the bride at the weekend. EastEnders star Danny walked his daughter Dani, 28, down the aisle so she could marry footballer Jarrod Bowen. White rose petals lined the aisle, with floral sculptures and candles creating a stunning backdrop which the bride and groom shared a kiss in front of. And after Dani, wearing a designer Suzanne Neville dress, and Jarrod said 'I do', cheeky Danny then couldn't resist bringing a bit of football into proceedings. With mic in hand on videos shared on social media, he can be heard urging the guests to sing "Bowen's On Fire - and he's married Dani Dyer ' to the tune of pop star Gala's hit Freed from Desire. Dani has now quickly changed her surname to Dyer-Bowen on Instagram, and is thrilled with how her big day went. On her Instagram, Dani said, "The most perfect, special day," alongside a video of herself getting married. A purpose-built glass marquee had been erected in the Buckinghamshire countryside for the event, although the ceremony itself took place outside to make the most of the sunny weather. After the couple cut a giant white cake, a band could be seen in the background poised to begin, so everyone could get the party started with some dancing. Around 60 people are said to have attended the ceremony, which is in keeping with the down-to-earth couple who have a small circle of close friends as well as family to invite. The video of the day appeared to show Dani's having a first dance with both her dad Danny and Jarrod before other guests joined them on the dancefloor. In a behind-the-scenes wedding reel shared to Instagram, Danny looked as though he could cry as he embraced daughter Dani on the dance floor. In the background of the video, a rendition of Ray Charles' song Georgia On My Mind could be heard playing. After a late night partying with a live band, guests could help themselves to take away pizzas. The boxes were specially made for the day and said 'D&J that's amore' on them. In the lead up to the wedding, Danny said: 'I have met every single boyfriend that has walked through my door - and then she brings home the West Ham captain. I have gone from the lying scum, and I hate them, to a man who I would not mind tonguing myself! A strong man. If he lent in I would put my lips on this geezer. 'He is just, as a father and joking aside, he took her on with a 14 month old son and that says a lot about a man I will tell you. He is amazing. I can't wait to give her away. What a touch. But if he was to make a move on me before… "I think I'm in love with him, slightly. He's an incredible person. I just want someone to love my daughters the way I do. I want them to worship them and look after them. Let me tell you that. I love him.' Jarrod joined West Ham in 2020 and has regularly been the best player on the pitch, including when he scored the winning goal to give West Ham their first trophy in 43 years during the 2023 Europa Conference League final.
