F1 driver market flickers into life as Cadillac narrow down shortlist for 2026
Cadillac will become the first new team in F1 since 2016 next season, with Graeme Lowdon now working to finalise his driver line-up for the 2026 campaign Cadillac have identified seven drivers as potential candidates to lead them on track in their debut Formula 1 season. Next year, the American outfit will become the first fresh constructor to join the grid since Haas made their entrance back in 2016. The team is supported by a collaboration with TWG Motorsport and Andretti Global. As well as getting the outfit into shape ahead of its debut, team principal Graeme Lowdon is now working to cement his driver pairing for the upcoming campaign, with several racers' futures currently uncertain. Seven prospects, including some not presently competing in F1, have made it onto Lowdon's shortlist. He made as much clear during an appearance on the High Performance podcast, during which he openly discussed some of the names under consideration at Cadillac. Acknowledging he was contemplating handing Mick Schumacher a way back onto the F1 grid, he stated: "Yeah, we are talking to Mick." The German is hunting his first F1 race seat since 2022 when he was axed by Haas and their then-team principal Guenther Steiner. Lowdon is also eyeing Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas, who rejoined the Silver Arrows as a reserve this year. He additionally disclosed that discussions are ongoing with Max Verstappen's former Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez, who has been less vocal about his plans and worked in the background to secure his return to the F1 grid. Nevertheless, the 60-year-old isn't solely focusing on seasoned competitors. He confirmed that former Formula 2 racers Felipe Drugovich and Frederik Vesti are in the running, while he also name-checked Red Bull academy driver Arvid Lindblad before conceding that it would be very difficult to pry the Brit away from their grasp. Cadillac have made it clear from the beginning that they would love to field an American driver if possible, and are still contemplating a move for IndyCar racer Colton Herta. The American took part in a two-day trial with the McLaren F1 squad in 2022, and currently races for Andretti Global with Curb Agajanian. However, he does not currently have enough points for an FIA superlicence which is required for anyone to race in F1. Currently eighth in the IndyCar standings, that finish this season would not be high enough for Herta to gain the points he needs to reach the threshold of 40. Lowdon has made a commitment to consider only those who prioritise the team over personal ambitions. He said: "Our team is there to provide a position on the pitch, for someone to prove what they can do for sure. But it's not a vehicle to kind of show the world to prove a point or whatever. "Drivers are there to prove the best they possibly can for the team, and they should be motivated for the team around them as well. I'm less keen on people who kind of want to prove a personal point."

Noel Gallagher and James Blunt feud revived as Oasis star branded 'sad human'
Oasis' Noel Gallagher was said to have sold a property in Ibiza once to avoid having to live by James Blunt and the You're Beautiful singer has since shared his thoughts Singer-songwriter James Blunt has criticised Noel Gallagher. He described the fellow musician as a "sad human being" in a segment on a podcast that has attracted attention this month amid the ongoing Oasis reunion tour. James, 51, is said to have moved into the same neighbourhood as Noel, 58, in Ibiza almost two decades ago. It's been claimed that Noel, however, decided to sell his property at the time to avoid having to live close to James. You're Beautiful singer James has spoken about tension with Noel over the years, including on the High Performance podcast. The podcast shared a clip from the episode, with fans on Instagram over the weekend. In the clip, James is heard sharing his thoughts on the High Flying Birds member. He said on the podcast: "Noel Gallagher's never said anything unkind to my face. He just always does it to your back when he's trying to flog music." James also said in the video: "[Noel was] saying he can't live in Ibiza because I live down the road - well, what a sad human being he is because it's a big enough island. You don't have to ... I'm not asking you to come and see me." He continued: "Weirdly house prices went through the roof the moment he left, actually, and I don't know whether the house prices went up because he'd left or because I'd arrived. But y'know there's gotta be some connection." Oasis: What's Their Story? An unofficial celebration magazine on sale now! The post comes amid Noel touring with his brother Liam Gallagher at the moment. The Oasis Live '25 tour has already been to Cardiff and Manchester, with it now heading to London for shows at Wembley Stadium in the next week. It has previously been reported that Noel criticised James in 2006 when he was planning to buy a property next to him in Ibiza. It's been reported that Noel announced that he would be selling his holiday home as he didn't want to be living close to James who would be making "terrible music". James has spoken about Noel on several occasions in recent years. As previously reported, it included during an appearance on the Where There's A Will There's A Wake podcast, with him having been a guest on the podcast in 2023. He's quoted as having said: "I do actually bump into Noel at various places and he only says these things behind your back. To your face he's a coward. He said he couldn't have me writing my s****y songs just down the road from him." viagogo and resale tickets Sites such as viagogo, Stubhub, and Vivid Seats allow fans to buy resale tickets from other fans. However, it is important to note that ticket conditions often prohibit resale after initial purchase. Those tickets may not be valid for admittance to gigs. Fans intending to buy tickets for live events through resale websites should check the ticket terms and conditions, to confirm whether resale is prohibited, before they buy. Ticket terms and conditions can be checked with the original seller, such as Ticketmaster or Live Nation. If resale is prohibited, tickets bought second-hand could be voided and admission to the event refused.

Paul Gascoigne Released From Hospital After Intensive Care; Recovering At Home
Last Updated: Gascoigne, 58, is recovering at home after a brief stay in intensive care due to a throat condition. He has battled alcohol addiction and mental health issues. Former England and Tottenham midfielder Paul Gascoigne is recovering at home after being discharged from hospital, following a brief stay in intensive care. The 58-year-old, who resides in Poole on England's south coast, was admitted to the hospital on Friday after being found semi-conscious by a close friend. He was later transferred from intensive care to an acute medical unit, where his condition stabilized. Gascoigne's management company, MNT Agency, released a statement confirming his release and addressing the cause of his hospitalization. 'Paul voluntarily went into A&E (Accident and Emergency) on Friday after struggling with a throat condition (not by ambulance) he has had for a while," the statement read. 'He is already back home and doing well." The former football star was reportedly found by his driver and personal assistant, Steve Foster, who acted swiftly to ensure he received medical attention. Gascoigne, affectionately known as 'Gazza," earned 57 caps for the England national team and played for several top clubs including Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Lazio, Rangers, Middlesbrough, and Everton. He rose to international fame with his standout performances at the 1990 World Cup in Italy, helping England reach the semi-finals, and further dazzled at Euro 96. Despite his footballing brilliance, Gascoigne's life off the pitch has been marred by long-standing battles with alcohol addiction and mental health issues. In 2020, he revealed that he had anti-alcohol pellets implanted in his stomach in an effort to stay sober. However, in a candid 2023 appearance on the High Performance podcast, Gascoigne admitted he was still struggling, describing himself as a 'sad drunk" and revealing he was living in a spare room at his agent's home. Paul Gascoigne recovering after collapse at Dorset home
FORMER England football star Paul Gascoigne is recovering in hospital after collapsing at his home in Dorset. The 58-year-old was found in a semi-conscious state by his driver and assistant Steve Foster, who immediately rushed him to medical care. 'Paul is in hospital, which is the best possible place for him to be right now,' Foster told The Sun newspaper. Gascoigne was initially admitted to an intensive care ward on Friday before being moved to an acute medical unit, where his condition is now stable. Foster added that Gascoigne 'would like to thank everyone for the support he's received so far from so many old friends who wish him well and want to see him back to his best.' One of England's most talented footballers, Gascoigne played for top clubs including Tottenham, Newcastle, Lazio, and Rangers. He earned 57 caps for England and became a global icon during the 1990 World Cup in Italy, where his emotional reaction to a yellow card in the semi-final against West Germany captured hearts worldwide. Gascoigne also played a key role in England's Euro 96 campaign, which ended in another penalty shootout defeat to Germany. His career has been overshadowed by well-documented struggles with alcohol addiction and mental health issues. In 2020, Gascoigne claimed to have turned his life around after undergoing a medical procedure involving anti-alcohol pellets. However, last year he admitted on the High Performance podcast that he was still battling personal challenges, describing himself as a 'sad drunk' living in his agent's spare room. - AFP
