'I went to France for charity shops and couldn't believe value of item I found'
A British bargain hunter has hailed a discovery she made in a charity shop in Paris, which she believes is worth around £300 - and she only paid a fraction of that price A woman who defied the soaring Parisian heat to check out the French capital's charity shops has expressed her delight after stumbling upon a bargain find. Lola Amuah took to TikTok to reveal the results of her shopping trip across the Channel, noting one particular item she snapped up that she claims is worth £300. "It's 30 degrees in Paris and all we can think about is going to flipping charity shops," she joked in a video. Accompanied by her friend, Lola headed inside a branch of Emmaus - a charity established in the 1940s to help combat poverty and homelessness in France. The pair began their experience by checking out the clothes and hats, before Lola made a beeline for the toys section. After picking out a Toy Story soft toy, she soon moved on to a basket of sunglasses, which included a child's pair of Ray-Bans. Lola's friend then summoned her over to showcase a Bimba Y Lola purse. "This is an expensive brand, isn't it?" she asked. "We've got to get it," agreed Lola as the duo checked it over for authenticity. Closing, Lola spotted a brown leather Coach handbag, which she examined thoroughly. Noting its €79.50 price tag (£70), she declared: "Isn't that gorgeous? It's stunning, and it is real." She hailed her success in a caption: "We found a £300 handbag in a charity shop!" Coach handbags in this style currently retail online for between £300 and £495. "Stop going to charity shops and finding fabulous things, I'm so jealous," one TikTok user penned in response. According to the brand's website, Coach is a global fashion house founded in New York, also in the 1940s. "Inspired by the vision of Creative Director Stuart Vevers and the inclusive and courageous spirit of our hometown, we make beautiful things, crafted to last—for you to be yourself in," Coach states. It goes on to add: "We believe in crafting beautiful things that you can be yourself in. Since 1941, inspired by the spirit of our hometown, New York City, we've built a legacy of craft and a community that champions the courage to live authentically. "Today, the same way we care about every stitch that goes into our product, we care about the impact we have on people, communities and the planet. "Everything we make, we craft to last with the belief that better-made things create a better made future for all." Today, there are 17 Coach stores in the UK, seven of which can be found in Central London and its outer boroughs. Other branches can be found in major cities including Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds, Portsmouth and York.

Parents of boys, 4, living with one of rarest conditions in the world hope for gene therapy cure
ITV Meridian's Stacey Poole has been speaking to two families from the south about their desperate search for a cure for their children's rare genetic condition. Families from our region are in a race against time to try and find a cure for one of the rarest genetic conditions in the world. There are only 3 children in the UK living with CRELD1 and there is currently no cure. The condition causes a huge range of symptoms from seizures, to development delay and heart issues. It was only discovered thanks to the tenacity and desperation of one Hampshire family who reached out via Facebook to try and find answers. What they discovered is now helping families around the world. It has many symptoms, but the seizures are the most debilitating, and some children can have up to 200 of them a day. But it also causes heart issues, developmental and cognitive delay, hearing loss, immature eye development, respiratory issues and immune dysfunction. Adam and Jess Clatworthy's daughter Lola had her first seizure when she was three months old. The family spent the next two years in and out of hospital asking questions that no-one could answer. Multiple tests, including ECGs, EEGs, MRIs and genetic testing, both on the NHS and privately, didn't offer any new information either. Adam reached out to support groups posting a video of Lola having a seizure hoping someone maybe able to help. By pure chance, a mum in Canada responded to his Facebook post because she recognised the seizure symptoms in her own son. Her son had a very rare condition called CRELD1. Jess Clatworthy Without a diagnosis, and with no indication that Lola's condition was genetic, Adam and Jess had a third child, this time a little boy called Alfie. Four days after Alfie was born, Lola passed away in her sleep from SUDEP, a tragic outcome for many children diagnosed with severe epilepsy. Whilst grieving for Lola, they also realised that Alfie, although stronger than his sister, also had the same symptoms. He had his first seizure at three months old. Adam Clatworthy But this time Adam and Jess had more knowledge, and they contacted the family in Canada who had responded to the video of Lola Jess and Adam have set up their own charity - Creld 1 Warriors - to explore repurposing drugs using AI and find a gene therapy. Through their desperate search for answers, the Clatworthy family were brought together with the Powell family. Sophie and Oli Powell's son Angus was diagnosed with CRELD1 at 3 years old, but recently the seizures have become very severe - and earlier this month he was rushed to hospital Despite trying all the medications available - doctors decided the only option was to put Angus into an induced coma. Oli and Sophie, from Chaddleworth, Berkshire, say that their son's development is already significantly delayed and the episodes can take months to recover from. Sophie Powell Though the family are uncertain of what the future holds, uniting with the Clatworthy family has given them support and reassurance. Oli took on the epic challenge of running 7 marathons in 7 days. Oli who served as an Army Officer in the military, raised more than £50,000 towards much-needed research into the condition. Working together on the research the families have already made achievements. Sophie and Oli were able to screen their unborn baby after Jess and Adam ensured Creld 1 is now a genetic condition that's screened for in the UK. Meanwhile the CRELD1 paper means that when people have genetic testing, CRELD1 will now be one of the genes that is tested, thanks to the work by the charity Both families want to encourage others to share their story.

Woman Finds Newborn Puppy at Home, but She Had No Idea Her Chihuahua Was Even Pregnant (Exclusive)
Lene Ackermann came home at midnight to find her Chihuahua, Lola, had secretly given birth to a puppy in her mother's bed The family had no idea Lola was pregnant—there were no signs, no weight gain, and only two slightly swollen teats The surprise birth quickly went viral on TikTok, and now the family is happily keeping the puppy and searching for the perfect nameLene Ackermann walked into her home at midnight expecting a quiet return from a long day of sports competition. Instead, she was met with squeaks coming from upstairs—and a newborn puppy lying in her mother's bed. 'I was busy feeding the animals and I'm thinking, where is Lola?' Lene tells PEOPLE. 'She's not coming to get her food, and then she runs down the stairs and runs back up.' Still in her sneakers, Lene stood at the base of the stairs and froze. 'We hear squeaking, and I call my mom,' she says. 'We rush up, and at the top of the stairs, there's a puppy in my mom's bed.' Unbeknownst to the family, their three-year-old Chihuahua, Lola, had given birth completely in secret. 'She completely opened up the duvet and had the baby right between the duvet and my mom's pillow,' Lene says. The moment was shocking, emotional—and it's now viral. Lene posted the discovery on TikTok with the caption: 'Just got home to find my chihuahua with a baby. Didn't even know she was pregnant.' The video exploded online, garnering millions of views, and sparking an avalanche of comments. Some were supportive, while others questioned how a birth could go so unnoticed. Lene admits even she was stunned. 'We were completely shocked,' she tells PEOPLE. 'My dad had a suspicion the week before because two of her teats started swelling, but only two, which is weird.' That tiny change wasn't enough to raise alarms. 'She hadn't gained any weight,' she adds. 'There was nothing that suggested she was pregnant.' The family, who live with four cats, two other Chihuahuas, and a big dog, had never experienced anything like this. 'All of the rest of our animals are fixed and they're all spayed,' Lene says. 'We've never experienced an animal birth before.' While Lola's pregnancy was unplanned, the idea of her becoming a mom was always a dream for the family. 'We did want her to have babies,' Lene says. 'She has very motherly tendencies, and it adds a lot of character to your dog as well.' Still, they assumed they'd have more time—and more warning. 'You would think you would notice it, but we didn't,' she adds. The father, Pablo, is just eight months old. 'We have one other Chihuahua and he isn't fixed,' Lene says. 'We got him at the end of last year, and he's only eight months old.' In the moments after discovering the puppy, panic set in. 'There was only one, so we immediately started stressing,' Lene tells PEOPLE. 'We searched the entire house in case there were any other puppies, maybe one fell off the bed.' They flipped the bedding, scoured every room, and checked every corner. But it was just Lola and her single newborn. The next morning, they brought the new mom and baby to the vet. 'We took her to the vet the next day just to double check,' Lene says. 'She was acting fine, but obviously we didn't know if something happened during the birth.' The vet gave them comforting news. 'It was a very smooth birth, and it is normal for there to only be one,' Lene explains. 'Especially with Pablo being so young, and it being Lola's first time giving birth.' Chihuahuas, they learned, typically have small litters—sometimes just one to three pups. 'We also found that out afterwards,' she says. 'So we did find out it's normal for Chihuahuas.' Lola's maternal instincts came on instantly and fiercely. 'She's not allowing any of the other animals close to the baby,' Lene tells PEOPLE. 'She wouldn't let Pablo anywhere near either.' Even the cats and the larger dog weren't safe from her protective growls. 'If they came even in the same room, she would be growling and barking,' she says. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. That behavior mellowed as days passed, and now both Lola and Pablo are watching over the baby. 'She only let us touch the baby at first,' Lene says. 'But now they're both looking after her.' The puppy, a little girl, is healthy and thriving. 'We're definitely keeping her,' Lene says. 'She's adorable, and her eyes opened today actually.' The family is still debating on a name, but there's no doubt she's staying. 'She's currently lying on my bed in the sun,' Lene adds. 'So she's perfect.' For Lene, the love her family has for Lola runs deep—and her journey into motherhood feels like fate. 'She's always had this thing since we got her,' Lene shares. 'She's really protective over her toys.' Lola would carry her toy bones around the house and stash them with family before going outside or eating. 'She would growl at anyone that came close,' Lene says. 'She's had that maternal instinct from day one.' That bond, Lene believes, is what made this unexpected birth feel so right. 'It was obviously very important to her,' she says. 'So we wanted to give her that chance.' Now, with a surprise puppy and a once-in-a-lifetime memory, the Ackermann family is soaking in every moment. 'She's doing what she needs to do,' Lene says. 'And we're just in awe.' Woman buys Harry Potter cards at charity shop but is bowled over by real worth
A woman called Lola picked up some Harry Potter collectable cards at a charity shop, but she couldn't get over how much they were worth when she did her research at home You never know what you're going to find when you go exploring, especially when it comes to looking around charity shops. After all, they're often full of so many weird and wonderful things, and sometimes you can really snap up an expected bargain when you least expect to find one. This is exactly what happened to one woman recently when she visited a charity shop to have a look around. Lola, known as lola_amuah on TikTok, was taken by surprise when she found a tin full of Harry Potter collectable cards when she was shopping, and when she got them home she couldn't get over just how much they could be worth. In a recent video, she revealed that she found some great finds during a recent trip. She spotted a patterned jug that she seemed to love, which came complete with matching glasses too. She then came across a tin that was full of Harry Potter cards, which she decided to snap up. It sounded like she paid around £10 for them, and she thought they were "cool." However, it wasn't until she got them home that she realised just how valuable they are. Lola explained: "When we got home, we realised that we had the entire collection of those cards. "Every single one was in a plastic sleeve, and this is just one what one of them is on sale for on eBay." On the screen, she then revealed someone was flogging the single card for £245.42." This meant that she could have cards worth thousands overall, though some may obviously vary in value. Lola couldn't believe her luck when she did her research. One person replied, saying: "'You're a wizard Harry'. Those cards are so cool, and a great price." Another wrote: "Oh, tell us more about the cards." A third added: "I used to collect those Harry Potter cards as a kid." Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: "Great finds." When it comes to Harry Potter trading cards, they can vary widely in value. While some can be worth a few pounds, others can be worth hundreds or thousands - it all depends on how rare they are. If they are signed, this may also pump up the value. None the less, Lola seems to have the potential to make a great profit on one card alone. Cards with limited print runs or unique features (like holofoil or autographs) are said to be more valuable. Mint or near-mint condition cards will also bring in more money than those that are damaged or worn. If your cards feature any iconic characters or specific scenes from the books or movies, they may be more desirable to buyers. Cards signed by the main actors (Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint) can also be super valuable, particularly if they have been kept in good condition. However, you need to bear the market demand in mind. The price can also be influenced by the number of collectors and their willingness to pay a premium for certain cards. Doing a little research online will help you determine if your cards are worth anything.
