Oasis at Murrayfield LIVE as Edinburgh prepares for Gallagher mania
It's the day that Scots Oasis fans have been waiting for. The Manchester Britpop icons take to the Murrayfield stage tonight for the first of a three-night run series of gigs in the capital. The show marks the Gallagher brothers triumphant live return to the country that made them for the first time in 16 years. Last night, Liam sent followers with tickets to the Edinburgh gigs into a frenzy as he shared a nostalgic social media video which showcased the group's legendary Scottish performances over the decade, including T in the Park, King Tut's, Balloch Castle Country Park and the SECC. Oasis last played in Scotland in June 2009 as part of their Dig Out Your Soul tour. Preparations have been underway for weeks in Edinburgh and it's safe to say the area is buzzing for the Gallagher duo to belt out their most iconic hits. Like all of the shows on the Oasis 2025 reunion tour, the Edinburgh dates are sold out, and fans from far flung spots have been gathering in the city over the past few days, including followers from South Korea and Germany, determined to bag some of the merchandise on offer at the site ahead of the much anticipated concerts. Earlier this month, Oasis kicked off their string of sold-out reunion shows at Cardiff's Principality Stadium, before they headed to Manchester and London ahead of the Edinburgh and Dublin dates on their UK and Ireland leg of the show. The supporting acts are The Verve's Richard Ashcroft and Liverpool band Cast, and fans have been promised to be transported back to the 90s with the lineup. After their Edinburgh shows, Oasis will head to Dublin for two dates. The first leg of their UK tour will wrap up at the city's Croke Park on August 17. From there, Oasis will head across the Atlantic for shows in Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles and Mexico City, before returning to London for two additional Wembley dates at the end of September. The tour then continues through Asia, Australia and South America, with the final show set for November 23 in São Paulo, Brazil. We've got all the hot takes and information you need to know if you're headed to Edinburgh over the next few days, or simply want to stay on top of all the action...

Oasis love affair with Scotland after kick starting career in Glasgow
Oasis play Edinburgh's Murrayfield over three nights, marking the band's first Scottish shows in 15 years Despite being a band who hail from Manchester, many of Oasis' most iconic moments actually happened in Scotland. From their discovery at King Tut's in Glasgow to walking off stage at the SECC and, of course, their well remembered T in the Park debut, the Gallagher brothers and their band have always had strong ties north of the Border. According to original guitarist Bonehead, whose real name is Paul Arthurs, their sold-out Loch Lomond gigs in 1996 rate among their best-ever shows as they felt like they were in a James Bond film. Speaking to the Daily Record previously, he said: 'How could you forget Loch Lomond? It was like being in a James Bond movie – from being in the hotel in Glasgow to being flown in by helicopter then jumping into a speedboat at the back of the stage. 'There were fireworks going off and the crowd were incredible. It's up there as one of the best gigs we did.' They performed two shows at Balloch Country Park before playing to 250,000 people at Knebworth in Hertfordshire a week later. Bonehead, who quit the band in 1999 but is back for the reunion, said: 'I always believed we should have called it a day at that second night at Knebworth. We should have taken a bow and said, 'Thank you, goodnight. We were Oasis'. 'We had achieved all and more than we ever set out to do and could have gone out without a punch or a fight.' The Balloch gigs were a far cry from their first Scots festival appearance at T in the Park two years earlier – when they were initially refused entry. Bonehead said: 'One of our mates, Alan, was our driver. He had driven for the Stone Roses for years. 'We were driving up to T in the Park thinking, 'This is going to be great', but 20 miles outside Glasgow Alan put diesel in the petrol tank and the van blew up on the hard shoulder of the motorway. It was chaos. The next thing we knew we were in an AA van heading to Glasgow then on a train to the festival with all the fans. 'We got to the gig, guitars in hand, with the punters and the stewards were telling us to 'f*** off'. We were like, 'No, we're playing, man'. We had to walk around the festival site to get to the artist area and eventually persuaded people to let us in. 'It was a typically chaotic day in the life of Oasis but it was a brilliant gig and festival. There was this bouncing atmosphere and it was a great day.' Recalling the band's support slot at King Tut's in 1993, which led to record company boss Alan McGee signing them, Bonehead said: 'The girls we shared a rehearsal room with at The Boardwalk in Manchester, The Sister Lovers, said they had sorted it for us to play so we went up there. But when we got there, the promoter said, 'Nah. I don't think so'. 'I don't think it turned violent, like everybody reckoned, but the guy said, 'Go on then, up you go and do three or four songs'. The rest is history. 'McGee was there. We blew him away and he offered us a deal on the spot. It was an incredible night. 'I often wonder what would have happened if McGee hadn't been in the room that night and offered us a deal. I'm sure we would've got signed but would it have been what it was without him?' However, Bonehead has no recollection of the night Liam Gallagher ended a gig at Glasgow's SECC in 1997 abruptly after a bottle was thrown onstage. He said: 'Maybe it happened too many times, him walking offstage. 'I went to see Noel at the SECC a couple of years ago and somebody said, 'The last time you played here, Liam walked off'. I said, 'Have I played here?' He said, 'Yeah, someone threw a bottle, hit Liam. He walked off'. But I don't remember it.' Oasis split in 2009 after a bust-up between Noel and Liam backstage at the Rock en Seine festival near Paris but now, sixteen years on they will be heading back to Scotland this weekend.

I saw Alice Cooper at Edinburgh Playhouse and more artists should follow his lead
It had been 20 years since Alice Cooper last played Edinburgh and he returned to the Playhouse stage with all the theatrics you'd expect from the shock rocker. Learn More Sorry, there seem to be some issues. Please try again later. Submitting... At 77, there has been no let up for the engaging Cooper who led a revolving cast of characters through a theatrical, near two-hour, set that took fans through his more than 50 year career. The set was an example of how Cooper has often been at the forefront of the genres that he straddles. There were the hard rock of 70s numbers like Schools Out and Eighteen, before a venture through the extremely 80s glam metal of Poison and Bed of Nails. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Each of the songs was a perfect example of an artist who has aged like a fine wine. Cooper sounds as good as he has ever done, something that cannot be said for some of his peers. He moves about the stage as well as he did during his 70s heyday. And the sheer campiness of a Cooper show is as brilliant as always. I first saw Cooper 20 years ago at Glasgow's SECC, a cavernous shed that never felt like the right venue for any artist - never mind one that has a show that feels right at home in a place like the Playhouse. Cooper is pure theatre. The show is vaudevillian and pantomime in its execution, of which there are many executions. It is one of the few gigs you will attend where those in the front row are likely to get just a spot of fake blood on them from one of the show's numerous death scenes. Alice Cooper took to the Edinburgh Playhouse stage for the first time in 20 years | NW But it is not all style over substance, Cooper's band is one of the best in the business. His long-term band consisting of Ryan Roxie (guitar), Chuck Garric (Bass), Tommy Henrickson (guitar), Glen Sobel (drums) and Nita Strauss (guitar) was in fine form. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad There was, of course, an emotional nod to fellow legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away aged 76 on Tuesday, 22 July. Cooper led the crowd in a chant of the Black Sabbath frontman's name at the end of the set. This felt like the perfect venue for Cooper. He could, and did, pack out the Hydro and give a good show - but it feels like more artists should embrace rooms like the Playhouse. And one that once played host to acts like this regularly - my dad who joined me was keen to remind me that he'd seen The Who and The Jam on that very stage. It had been two decades since Cooper last appeared at the Playhouse, here's hoping he doesn't leave it as long next time.
