"Process Of Removal Should Begin": Probe Panel Formed Over Judge In Cash Row
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday announced a three-member panel to probe allegations against Justice Yashwant Varma, at whose Delhi residence large piles of burnt cash were found in March this year. The committee includes Justice Aravind Kumar of the Supreme Court, Justice MM Shrivastava of the Madras High Court, and senior advocate of the Karnataka High Court BV Acharya. Mr Birla also accepted an impeachment motion against Justice Varma signed by 146 Members of Parliament. "The process of removal of Justice Yashwant Varma should begin. The Parliament is united against corruption. We have accepted the impeachment have faith in the judiciary," Mr Birla said. Justice Varma - who could become the first High Court judge in independent India to be removed from office - is being investigated by Parliament under Articles 124, 217, and 218 of the Constitution over the cash-at-home row. The three-member committee - which has the power to call for evidence and examine witnesses - will submit its report to the Lok Sabha Speaker, who will place it before the House. If the Judge is found guilty, a motion will be put to a vote to impeach Justice Varma, followed by a similar procedure in the Rajya Sabha. The motion will then be sent to the President for approval. This comes a week after the MPs - both from the opposition and government's ranks - had submitted a notice to the Lok Sabha Speaker calling for an investigation into Justice Varma and the cash-at-home row. 'XXX' vs Union of India A huge controversy broke out on March 15 after firefighters called to Justice Varma's bungalow in Delhi discovered piles of money that had been burnt by a fire. This raised questions about corruption in the highest levels of the judicial system in the country. While Justice Varma denied any link to the cash and called the allegations against him "preposterous", the top court set up an in-house panel that recommended his impeachment. The panel's report was forwarded to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi - by then Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna - with the same recommendation. Following this, Justice Varma wrote a petition challenging the top court panel's recommendation to remove him. He, however, had kept his identity a secret in the petition - and was then referred to as ' XXX ' in court documents. In his writ petition, Justice Varma had offered the two-judge bench of Justice Dipankar Datta and AG Masih five reasons why he could not be sacked, including questions over the jurisdiction and authority of the in-house committee to investigate a sitting judge. However, the Supreme Court on July 30 knocked back his challenge, ruling that the Judge's petition was "not worth entertaining" and reproached him for his "not confidence-inspiring conduct".

Junkyard frontman David Roach dies age 59 two weeks after tying the knot
David Roach, lead singer of 80s rock group Junkyard, has died at age 59 after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. His bandmates shared the devastating news on Instagram, sharing that he died 'in the loving arms of his wife', Jennifer Roach. The pair had only tied the knot on July 19, just two weeks before his death, in a private ceremony with their closest friends. 'It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Roach,' the band wrote. 'After a courageous battle with cancer, David passed away peacefully last night at home, in the loving arms of his wife. 'He was a gifted artist, performer, songwriter, and singer—but above all, a devoted father, husband, and brother. Our thoughts are with the entire Roach family and everyone who loved him.' The Simple Man hitmaker was diagnosed in late March with squamous cell carcinoma, a common type of skin cancer. His wife had left her job in order to become his full-time carer, with a GoFundMe launched to help cover his medical bills as he needed around-the-clock care. 'David is a true friend to everyone he meets,' the GoFundMe read. 'He has a knack for making people feel special and appreciated, and his incredible sense of humor always brings laughter and happiness to those around him. 'His generous spirit really shines through in everything he does, including donating his amazing artwork to support others.' The page raised over $36,000 (£27,000) with Jennifer sharing an update that described the time since his diagnosis as 'a nightmare rollercoaster'. On July 21, she wrote that Roach had been living in a cancer centre 'for a month now' but was 'in good spirits' with hopes he could move home soon. Following his death, bandmate Chris Gates shared: 'I loved him like a little brother. We had our ups and downs, but that never changed. My condolences to his brother and sisters, v and to ask the people who lived him or were touched by his/or songs. 'I'll miss playing music with him, but he'll always be an important part of me.' Junkyard formed in 1987 with the core line-up consisting of Roach on vocals, Gates and Brian Baker on guitar, bassist Clay Anthony and drummer Patrick Muzingo. They were often compared to Guns N' Roses, who were also on Geffen Records, the label which dropped Junkyard after two albums. More Trending At the time they had their third album ready to go, which was later released as two issues: XXX and The Joker. After being dropped in 1992, Junkyard disbanded but kept a cult following before reforming in 2000 for a world tour complete with live album from their heyday. In 2017, they released comeback album High Water — their first studio recording in 25 years — with a final single dropped in 2021 titled Lifer. Got a story? SMH: NBA YoungBoy Shows Donald Trump Love On New Album
Source: Gary Miller / Getty NBA YoungBoy is back with a new album called ' MASA ', his first project since getting out of federal custody earlier this year. The album has 30 songs and features from Playboi Carti and Mellow Rackz, but one track in particular is grabbing everyone's attention: 'XXX.' In 'XXX,' YoungBoy sparks some controversy, which left many fans confused and questioning his intentions. The music video adds even more shock value, showing women in revealing clothes holding guns while dancing. In the background, the words 'All Hail Trump' are spray-painted in green on a wall. YoungBoy doesn't hold back his support for former President Donald Trump in the song. He raps, 'Make America Slimy Again / Whatever Trump doin', b*tch, it's good for the youngins.' This comes as a surprise to fans, since he dissed Trump back in 2017 on his song 'Red Rum.' So why the change of heart? It might be because Trump pardoned YoungBoy earlier this year, cutting short his prison time for gun charges. It seems that gesture made a big impact on the rapper, leading him to openly praise Trump in his new music. Fans online were not really feeling YB showing love to Trump. Some think he's just trolling, while others wonder if he actually supports him. Either way, it's got people talking and put YoungBoy back in the spotlight. ‘Please don't miss me': Gen Z's leave email is the talk of the internet
A short and unusually candid leave email from a Gen Z intern has caught the internet's attention this week, prompting a wide-ranging discussion around professionalism, mental health, and how workplaces are evolving. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The email, which was shared on Reddit by a user managing a small team at an AI startup, stood out for its informal tone– and has since become a talking point for both corporate veterans and young professionals. The viral email that started it all The post was uploaded to the subreddit r/IndianWorkplace with the caption: 'Corporate world is not ready for Gen Z!' It included a screenshot of the intern's email titled 'Going on a trip'. The message read: Reddit post: 'Hi, feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the work, and my energy feels a little off, so not getting that vibe right now. I'll be out from 28th July to 30th July (please don't miss me). Here's my train PNR XXX, and attaching the booking slip for reference. Will talk soon, bye.' The manager, who uploaded the post, noted that they were surprised by the tone. 'I got an email from one of the interns asking for leave (not actually asking), and aisa mail 20 saal ki career mein main kabhi nahi dekha,' they wrote in the post. Opinions divided: Refreshing or reckless? The email sparked a wide variety of reactions online. Some users viewed it as a bold example of Gen Z's casual communication style, while others felt it crossed a line of professionalism. One user commented, 'Gen Z can send such an email because they've grown up with economic comfort. They haven't seen the same kind of struggle we millennials did. They've also watched their parents deal with India's corporate culture.' Another added a personal touch: 'Honestly, this is iconic. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now We should all take a page out of Gen Z's book, especially my husband, who hasn't taken a day off in two months.' The case for candid conversations A portion of users defended the intern's approach, highlighting the importance of mental well-being and transparent communication. The message, they argued, was less about defiance and more about setting boundaries in a high-pressure work culture. One user wrote: 'What's surprising? I've seen 30+ people take leave to play video games or because the weather felt nice. This just shows a healthier work environment.' But not everyone was impressed Several users, including some Gen Z professionals themselves, expressed concern about the tone of the email. The key point of criticism: clarity and respect in workplace communication shouldn't be compromised. 'This is not how you email seniors or colleagues,' one person pointed out. Another, who identified as Gen Z, shared, 'Even I'm shocked. I'd never send a message like that.'
