I love my iPad, but this colour e-ink tablet does one thing better
I've got an iPad mini and Apple Pencil set-up, which is ideal for taking notes and light productivity tasks. The latest iPads have lots to offer in terms of features and ecosystem, but there's also one thing it's never quite nailed – comfort over long stretches of screen time. That's exactly where TCL's new Nxtpaper 11 Plus steps in with a colour e-ink display. While this e-ink slate is clearly not designed to replace an iPad outright, its unique screen technology makes a compelling case for a second device dedicated to reading, writing, and creating. Plus, I think its display is much better than my iPad's. Read more: Best tablets in 2025 for all budgets At the front of this tablet is TCL's Nxtpaper 4.0 panel – a colour e-ink display that ditches harsh backlighting in favour of a more natural, glare-free experience. There's also a matte display option, like the one on the iPad Pro. It's the kind of screen that should be easier on the eyes straight away, especially in brighter conditions or after long sessions. The colour reproduction promises to look rich, but the real appeal is in how little effort it takes to look at it for hours at a time. With a 120Hz refresh rate, the display experience promises to be smooth, so it shouldn't feel sluggish like some e-ink panels. Colour accuracy is excellent, and support for a pressure-sensitive T-Pen makes it more than capable for creative work. This tablet doesn't force you to compromise between productivity and comfort. Inside, you'll find a powerful MediaTek Helio G99 chip and a large 8000mAh battery, which means it should keep up with multitasking without struggling. With IP54 splash resistance, it's durable enough to throw in a bag and forget about. There's also support for reverse charging, so it can top up a phone or pair of earbuds in a pinch. The Nxtpaper 11 Plus includes AI-powered features like Text Assist and Writing Assist. They can help tidy up emails, summarise meeting notes, or translate conversations. Voice Memos auto-transcribe in real time, Circle to Search is here, and there's even a dedicated shortcut button that makes it easier to jump between tools with a tap or swipe. The TCL Nxtpaper 11 Plus with 256GB storage is available to order now for $250/£299. In the US, you can pick it up from retailers like Walmart, and in the UK, from Very and Currys.

The Razer Kishi Ultra controller deal for Prime Day brings it down to $100
Many consider Razer's Kishi Ultra to be the best mobile gaming controller around. But its standard $150 price tag is a sticking point for some. Well, Prime Day is here to cure what ails you. Amazon has the Rolls-Royce of mobile controllers for only $100. What makes the Kishi Ultra special? You can start with its form factor. Like many accessories in this space, it has a telescoping design that expands to fit your device. But unlike some competitors, its hearty grip makes it feel like a full-fledged console controller. It also has broad compatibility. It works with most Android phones, the iPhone 15 and 16 series and the two newest iPad mini models. You can plug into some foldables, including the Galaxy Z Fold 5. Ditto for most Android tablets (up to 8 inches in size). It even works with PCs via a low-latency USB cable. The list goes on. It has advanced haptics. You have RGB lighting... if you're into that. (This is Razer, after all.) Its ABXY buttons and D-pad are mechanical. It has Hall effect triggers, programmable L4 / R4 bumpers and plenty of customization options via the Razer Nexus app. If we have a gripe, it's that the thumbsticks aren't Hall effect. (Then again, the Switch 2 doesn't, either.) But at $100 for Prime Day, that omission is much easier to forgive. You can get a closer peek at it in Razer's promo video below and scoop one up on Amazon. To view this content, you'll need to update your privacy settings. My favourite iPad is $100 off in this early Prime Day deal
The iPad mini might be small in stature, but the latest model packs a mighty punch. In fact, it's my favourite iPad (and one of the best iPads you can buy) thanks to its portability. Apple's pint-sized powerhouse comes with refreshed internals and a design that makes it as pocketable as it is practical. And its even more of a steal with this Amazon deal ahead of the mega Prime Day sale. During Amazon's Spring Sale, the iPad mini (A17 Pro) is discounted by $100 from $499 to $399 – that's a rather excellent 20% saving on this top-rated tablet. On Amazon UK, there's a much smaller discount of £30 – taking the small tablet down from £499 to £469. I suspect the UK discount will grow when Prime Day actually hits, so British shoppers should hold off for the time being. At its core, the iPad mini 7 now packs the A17 Pro chip – the same powerhouse found in the iPhone 15 Pro. Compared to the A15 chip in the previous model, the jump in performance is substantial. Day-to-day tasks like browsing Safari with dozens of tabs open, switching between apps, and handling emails feel snappier than ever. Design-wise, Apple hasn't messed with the winning formula. The iPad mini 7 retains the sleek, Air-inspired aesthetic – an all-screen front, flat edges, and Touch ID integrated into the power button. At just 293g (Wi-Fi model), it's absurdly light and compact, slipping easily into a jacket pocket or a small bag. It's still the best iPad for one-handed use, whether reading in bed, annotating PDFs on the go, or using it as a high-tech clipboard in meetings. Connectivity has stepped up as well. Wi-Fi 6E ensures blazing-fast browsing and streaming, while the optional 5G model is great for those who need ultra-portable internet. The USB-C port remains, offering fast charging and seamless accessory compatibility, making the iPad mini even more versatile.

Best early Prime Day iPad deals: 9 huge savings across iPad Air, iPad Pro, iPad accessories and more
Amazon Prime Day officially kicks off next week. Clearly, Apple didn't get the memo, because there are so many huge iPad deals running right now. So far, these include savings of up to $200 off the entire iPad lineup — including $100 off the iPad mini and $200 off the 13-inch M4 iPad Pro, alongside savings on essential accessories like a 23% discount on Apple Pencil Pro. And even better? We're anticipating even more savings coming down the line as we close in on Prime Day. But for now, here are the Prime Day-worthy deals coming in the days ahead of the main event. The 2025 iPad features a larger 11-inch (2360 x 1640) screen, A16 CPU, 12MP rear/front cameras, USB-C connectivity, and Magic Keyboard Folio ($249) support. The base model features 128GB of storage, which doubles the capacity of its predecessor. It's available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB capacities. The new iPad mini is already getting a discount, and any price cut to this small tablet is welcome. We're big fans of its incredibly portable design and long battery life (it lasted 10 hours in our battery life tests). It comes with speedy performance thanks to Apple's A17 Pro chip, and has a gorgeous 8.3-inch (2,266 x 1,488) Liquid Retina display. You also get 12MP cameras on the front and back and Wi-Fi 6E support. In our iPad mini 7 review, we said it delivers the full iPad experience in a tiny size. You also get faster WiFi 6E support. In our iPad Air 2025 review, we said it brings impressive performance and power efficiency to a premium, sleek package. This larger-size iPad Air sports the same M3 processor, but it's coupled with a 13-inch LED (2732 x 2048) display. It packs Apple's new M4 processor, a 13-inch Ultra Retina XDR display, and a 12MP camera. The Apple Pencil Pro is Apple's newest iPad stylus. Its gestures and haptics allow you to seamlessly create without missing a beat. It features pixel-perfect precision, tilt and pressure sensitivity, and low latency. Turn your iPad Pro or iPad Air into the ultimate work machine with this magnetic keyboard case. It sports a full-size backlit keyboard with tactile keys, a 10-key function row, and a built-in trackpad with Multi-Touch gesture support.
