Wemby's Spurs Rank As 'Top Landing Spot' in Giannis Stunner

Wemby's Spurs Rank As 'Top Landing Spot' in Giannis Stunner originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Over the course of the NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs were linked to both Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo, although Durant got traded elsewhere (to Houston) and Antetokounmpo is still sitting in Milwaukee ... Advertisement Waiting. Maybe increasingly impatiently. The Milwaukee Bucks have by most measures done a poor job so far of adding win-now talent around their generational talent and perennial MVP finalist. "The Greek Freak'' has long played nice here. But we believe Antetokounmpo's patience could be wearing thin, which teams are counting on. The Spurs are on that list. "A lot of teams that think that they could trade for Giannis have been watching this very closely," said ESPN's Brian Windhorst. "And teams like San Antonio or Houston or Miami, or New York, they specifically have stayed out of other major transactions ... and saved assets ... to potentially chase Giannis.'' Advertisement And now comes a piece from Bleacher Report listing the San Antonio Spurs as the top landing spot if Antetokounmpo ever hits the market. The Spurs might have to give up Dylan Harper or Stephon Castle, perhaps both, and gut their depth in order to absorb his salary, as our Jonah Kubicek has noted. But Antetokounmpo (the 6-11 legend and two-time MVP) and Victor Wembanyama (the 7-3 Frenchman who could be the MVP heir to Giannis' throne) on the same team? That would be a stunner. You move mountains to do that ... and you prep for an NBA Finals berth or three if you do it, too. Check out the Inside the Spurs home page for more news, analysis, and must-read articles. Jury shown CCTV and bodycam footage of brothers allegedly assaulting police at Manchester Airport

CCTV and police bodycam footage allegedly showing three police officers being assaulted at Manchester Airport has been played to jurors. Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 20, and his brother, Muhammad Amaad, 26, are said to have struck out after police were called to the airport on 23 July last year, after Amaaz allegedly headbutted a customer at a Starbucks in Terminal 2. Minutes later, three police officers approached the defendants at the paystation in the terminal's car park. A jury at Liverpool Crown Court today watched CCTV footage from opposite angles, which captured what the prosecution says was a "high level of violence" being used by the siblings. The prosecution says Amaaz resisted as officers tried to move him to arrest him, and Amaad then intervened. Junior counsel Adam Birkby suggested Amaaz threw 10 punches, including one to the face of PC Lydia Ward, which knocked her to the floor. His brother Amaad is then said to have aimed six punches at firearms officer PC Zachary Marsden. Amaaz also allegedly kicked PC Marsden and struck firearms officer PC Ellie Cook twice with his elbow. He is said to have punched PC Marsden from behind and had a hold of him, before PC Cook discharged her Taser. The bodycam and CCTV footage, submitted as evidence by the prosecution, allegedly shows the officers' arrival in the Terminal 2 car park and their attempts to arrest the siblings, as well as their exchanges with them. PC Ward can be heard saying "Oi, you b*****d" in footage from her bodycam, the prosecution evidence appears to show. She then appears to fall to the floor and screams. PC Cook, who is pointing her Taser at one of the defendants, then allegedly says: "Stay on the floor, stay on the floor whatever you do." "Get back, get back," PC Ward appears to say. The bodycam footage, shown to the jury by the prosecution, shows PC Marsden, who is also pointing his Taser, appear to approach the defendant who is lying on the ground and appears to kick out at him. Amaaz denies three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm to the three police officers and one count of assault to Abdulkareem Ismaeil, the customer at Starbucks. Amaad denies one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm to PC Marsden.

Jason Kelce's 'Tone Deaf' And 'Insulting' July 4 Post: 'Your Privilege Is Showing'

recently found himself at the center of controversy after posting a video to Instagram celebrating the , where he called for people to 'set aside our differences' and unite in their shared identity as Americans. The post, which featured fireworks exploding over a beach, was accompanied by a caption expressing Jason Kelce's patriotism. "Man, I love the 4th! One of the great days we all can set aside our differences in this country and enjoy the one thing we all share in common. That we are American!' Jason wrote. 'Cheers to you, oh beautiful America.' While the post garnered some praise, it also sparked significant backlash. Several followers took issue with the message, pointing out the privilege in Jason's sentiment and the lack of recognition for the current political and social struggles faced by many Americans. One of Jason Kelce's followers responded, 'I love you, bro, but your privilege is showing. You are able to set things aside, but not everyone has that privilege.' Another commenter added, 'I really do love you, Jason, but no, we actually can't just set aside our differences. The reason why I say that is because I actually do love this country, and what this country is becoming is not something I'm proud of. But I think you know that.' Other comments were even more critical. 'Dude, no. This caption is so beyond tone-deaf and insulting. People are suffering. People will die because of what's happening. Human rights are being lost. Do better. This is actually horrendous,' one user wrote. Another Jason Kelce follower stated, 'You have an incredibly large platform, use it to highlight the injustices and human rights violations currently happening in this country.' "When you choose to 'put aside' or neutral, you are choosing the oppressor," a third expressed. "Disappointed." "I'm not setting any differences aside," someone else commented. "One side wants to feed school children, and the other just made a concentration camp for Hispanics…" For those unaware, they are referring to the new Florida-based immigration jail dubbed 'Alligator Alcatraz." 'It might be as good as the real Alcatraz. A little controversial, but I couldn't care less,' Trump said earlier this week after touring the site. According to reports, Trump also joked about immigrants being pursued by snakes and alligators if they attempted to escape. Others, however, backed Jason Kelce after reading his post. "I am so super proud of you taking this stand and posting this," one of his fans said. "There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a difference of opinion. Yes, we are one, and the beauty of democracy is having the freedom to air your position. This is what July 4th represents." "Thank you, Jason! You are correct, we are all Americans and today is the day to celebrate that, nothing else!!" another commented. As a third Jason Kelce fan wrote, "Since when did being patriotic take a political position? There's an NFL team called the Patriots. He played for the Eagles. The Eagle is symbolic of American freedom. Jason- please do not let anyone talk you into apologizing!!!!" "Keep spreading your positivity; the comments in here are absolutely ridiculous," another Instagram user chimed in. "There is nothing wrong with loving your country." In past statements, both Jason and have remained relatively neutral on political matters. Notably, in 2024, Travis Kelce stated that, regardless of the political climate, he would still accept an invitation to the White House as a Super Bowl champion. 'It's always an honor to go to the White House,' he said during an episode of their podcast "New Heights." 'I'm doing it every time no matter who's up there at the helm. No matter what's going on in this world. It's just such a cool opportunity.' The Kelce brothers, who are beloved sports figures, have generally avoided engaging in politics publicly, and Jason Kelce's recent comment has only amplified the ongoing conversation about athletes using their platforms for social causes.

Weaker Banks Won't Stabilize the Treasury Market

As Congress sheds what remains of its fiscal restraint, America's pile of government debt is growing bigger and more precarious by the day. Regulators suggest that freeing the largest banks to own and trade more Treasuries will supply some useful ballast. It's more likely to inject added risk into the financial system, at an already perilous moment. In the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, the biggest banks were required to fund at least 5% of their total holdings with equity instead of borrowed money. This so-called enhanced supplementary leverage ratio is meant to safeguard banks in case their other capital measures, which are calculated by estimating the riskiness of their assets, prove insufficient. The megabanks contend that the ratio has become too restrictive and impedes them from making markets in Treasuries during times of stress.

Don't wait for rains to stop to carry out urgent road repairs: Gujarat CM to officials

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Monday directed officials to carry out urgent road repairs on a war footing, without waiting for the rains to stop. The CM conducted a high-level review meeting in Gandhinagar to assess the condition of roads, bridges, and highways across Gujarat in the wake of the damage caused by the ongoing monsoon. As per government records, work is underway on 243 damaged bridges while diversions are being monitored closely to avoid traffic disruption. Highlighting the importance of maintaining road infrastructure for daily life and development, the CM stressed that not a single rain-free day, or even days witnessing light rainfall, should be wasted, adding that repairs must continue even on public holidays, ensuring public convenience is not disrupted. Officials were instructed to take strict action against contractors if damage occurred during the defect-liability period. CM Patel emphasised accountability and called for quality execution in all road works. He also asked urban local bodies to take swift action to resolve issues like waterlogging and underpass flooding, and to plan for long-term infrastructure solutions in vulnerable areas. Municipal commissioners joined the meeting via video conference and were directed to ensure timely repairs in cities to restore normalcy. The CM reviewed the road status across rural areas, cities, and highways, including those under National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), the state roads department, panchayats, and municipal bodies. He called for coordinated teamwork among all agencies to speed up repairs and prevent delays due to inter-departmental issues. To do that effectively, instructions were given out regarding the functioning of the 24×7 control room at Nirman Bhawan, Gandhinagar. Officials informed the CM that of the 83 km of national highways affected by rain this year, 58 km have already been repaired while the remaining 25 km will be completed by July 20. The review also included presentations from the roads and buildings department.
