BJP demands early completion of Uppal elevated corridor project
Hyderabad: BJP Telangana took out a rally demanding to speed up the construction works of the proposed Uppal elevated corridor project, which has been pending for the last six years.
Addressing the media on Saturday, Stat BJP vice-president and Uppal ex-MLA NVSS Prabhakar demanded the State government take measures for early completion of the Uppal elevated corridor project sanctioned by the Modi government when he was party MLA. The project was not yet completed due to the apathetic attitude of the TRS government. He alleged that it took six years to change water, sewerage, and electricity lines besides the land acquisition and irregularities in payments of land compensation. He said Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had laid the foundation for the project for which Prime Minister Narendra Modi sanctioned Rs 600 crore. He alleged that the non-cooperation of the then TRS government led by KCR and his son KTR, who was municipal administration minister, had delayed the completion of the project commissioned for the benefit of the people.
The GHMC is in slumber, affecting the completion of civic works like laying shifting lines for drinking water, and sewerage, shifting of electric poles and delay in land acquisition. The Congress government is also non-cooperative, and the GHMC's attitude has not changed. Because of this, delay, people in the Uppal area suffer from traffic jams and frequent accidents.
However, the GHMC, and SRDP wing did not finalize the Uppal Cross Roads Development plan is yet to be prepared, this is going to be another hurdle in the completion of this project as Rs 20 crore fine is also levied by the central government for the delay by the state government in shifting the utilities.
Prabhakar urged Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who is scheduled to visit the city on May 5, to issue instructions on the state government to take up the works on war-footing and complete the Uppal elevated corridor project as early for the benefit of the people.

Bhopal: Union minister Bhupender Yadav has advised BJP MPs and MLAs to speak less to avoid controversies. During the second day of the BJP MPs and MLAs training camp in Pachmarhi, the Union minister for environment and forests emphasised that it is not necessary to react to every event. He also advised the party leaders to stay connected with the party workers at grassroots level. Yadav advised the 201 trainees at the camp to speak less, hinting at the controversy following minister for tribal affairs Vijay Shah's May 11 remark on Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, which dented the party's image after Operation Sindoor. Bhupender Yadav stated that sometimes it is better politics to remain calm and avoid giving statements. "It is better to remain silent. Giving a reaction to every incident can prove damaging. Party MLAs were given guidelines on the management of their assembly seats. During discussions on each of the assembly segments, the gathering was specifically told not to underestimate or neglect the ground workers of the party. Dr Mahendra Singh categorically mentioned that workers make MPs and MLAs, and it is on their hard work that govts are formed, so they should not feel mistreated or ignored. India, US close to finalising 'early tranche' of trade deal
File photo: Union minister Piyush Goyal with US secretary Howard Lutnick (Photo: ANI) NEW DELHI: India and the US are close to working out the final contours of the "early tranche" of the proposed bilateral trade agreement and are now starting work on the possible text for the deal, which is likely to be finalised before July 9, when American president Donald Trump plans to remove the freeze on reciprocal tariffs. Govt is likely to offer concessions for some of the farm products that are of interest to the US, along with concessions on automobiles, in return for getting a 10 per cent duty - Trump's baseline tariff - for labour-intensive products, such as textiles, footwear and, possibly, certain auto parts. With the current US administration lacking Congressional mandate to finalise trade deals, a zero-duty regime will have to wait until things settle down in the US. With a 10 per cent levy on products where India has a comparative advantage, the government is hoping to make Indian exports more competitive, especially if the reciprocal tariffs kick in. In any case, India, with 26 per cent reciprocal tariffs, including the 10 per cent baseline duty, was seen to enjoy a competitive advantage over several countries with which its exports compete. Besides, with sanitary and phytosanitary standards and technical barriers to trade also discussed during the last round of negotiations with American officials between June 4 and 10, the government is hoping that some of the issues faced by exporters shipping goods to the US will also be addressed. Digital trade, customs and trade facilitation and the legal framework were part of the discussions in the Capital earlier this month. Government sources indicated that India is keen for a text to be ready in some form before the deal is made public. This is seen to be crucial as the current US administration has been making announcements without the draft text in place and then claiming victory. Even the Chinese authorities have had to contend with the claims made by Trump on social media after the last dialogue. The announcement with the UK was seen to be more structured. By all accounts, several issues, including the court ruling on reciprocal tariffs for which Trump had invoked emergency provisions, will, however, play a part in finalising the early tranche for which a Fall (Sept/ Oct) date had been fixed. Besides, India is keen that an arrangement be worked out where it retains an advantage over its peers in case the tariffs are declared illegal by American courts.
