Jessica Mauboy shows off incredible makeover look just months after welcoming her first child and launching skincare brand Desert Rose Australia
The 35-year-old singer, who welcomed her daughter Mia on January 13, shared a transformation video across TikTok and Instagram, giving fans a glimpse of her edgy makeover.
In the clip, Mauboy begins barefaced, with her hair plaited casually on either side, lip-syncing to her 2008 hit Burn.
"Heard u was sleepin," she wrote at the bottom of the clip.
Then, with a swipe of her makeup brush, the scene changes.
"Are we awake now?" she asked, revealing a bold new look- complete with a silver smoky eye, wind-swept brunette waves, fingerless leather gloves and silver tassels.
She topped off the ensemble with statement earrings and a chunky silver bangle, stepping away from her usual girl-next-door image for something fiercer.
The Darwin-born star reshared the clip on Instagram, alongside videos from fans singing her hits.
"I see you all. Big love," she wrote, reposting one fan's clip that dubbed her "Australia's Rihanna".
The makeover coincides with a major moment in Mauboy's life, becoming a mum and launching her skincare line, Desert Rose Australia.
"It has been a bit of a rollercoaster but a magical one,: the ARIA Award winner told Stellar about becoming a first-time mum to Mia, alongside her husband of three years, Themeli Magriplis.
"I look at her and it's 'whoa!' because I see myself, that little frown.
"I'm not sure I want her to have my personality, because it's rough and it's tough … She's constantly changing every day, another little roll, another crease."
While navigating motherhood, Mauboy has also been hard at work on her new business venture.
Her debut product, a high-protection SPF50+ face serum, is inspired by her upbringing in the Northern Territory and the lessons she's learned about skincare in Australia's harsh climate.
"Growing up in the Northern Territory, sun care was never really taught," she explained.
"…We thought that we were tough because our environment was tough, and forgot we were vulnerable to the harsh sun.
"I knew I wanted to do something that felt healthy and caring and protecting."
Mauboy named the brand after the desert rose, a hardy succulent that thrives in arid conditions and which her mother grows at their Darwin home.
