Pakistan inflict more T20 misery on West Indies
The Pakistani spin specialists halted the West Indies' chase of 179 to ease to a 14-run victory under the lights in Lauderhill, Florida.
Saim Ayub posted a half-century and his teammates produced a steady flow of runs as the West Indies slumped to a sixth T20 defeat in a row, having been whitewashed 5-0 by Australia on home soil earlier in July.
T20I series featuring Pakistan, Afghanistan, UAE to begin later this month
When Jason Holder dismissed Ayub for 57, the West Indies sensed an opening but solid contributions from Faheem Ashraf and Hasan Nawaz and a spectacular six from Mohammad Haris helped Pakistan collect 58 from their last 31 balls.
Pakistan dismantled their opponents' batting order with Mohammad Nawaz removing Johnson Charles and 18-year-old Jewel Andrew – who became the youngest debutant for the West Indies in a T20 international – for 35 runs each.
The sides meet again in Lauderhill on Saturday for the second game of the three-match series before shifting to Tarouba for a three-match one-day international series.

PCB imposes ‘blanket ban' on future participation in WCL
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a blanket ban on future participation of Pakistani players in the World Championship of Legends (WCL), citing political bias and discriminatory treatment during the recently concluded tournament. In an official statement, the PCB strongly criticized the organizers for barring Pakistani cricketers and allowing political considerations to influence the event's conduct, particularly highlighting the refusal of the Indian team to play its scheduled matches against Pakistan. Terming the WCL's apology for 'hurting sentiments' as 'farcical,' the PCB said it inadvertently confirmed that the decision to exclude Pakistani players was not based on cricketing merit but rather a concession to a specific nationalistic narrative. 'This bias, masquerading as sensitivity, sends an unacceptable message to the international sporting community,' the PCB stated. The board further warned that politically influenced and biased decisions compromise the integrity and neutrality of international sports. It noted that participation in such an environment would be against the dignity of Pakistani players and could pose risks for future events. The issue was discussed in detail during a virtual meeting of the PCB's Board of Governors (BoG), attended by Sumair Ahmed Syed, Salman Naseer, Zaheer Abbas, Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Sajjad Ali Khokhar, Zafarullah Jadgal, Tanveer Ahmed, Tariq Sarwar, Muhammad Ismail Qureshi, Anwaar Ahmad Khan, Adnan Malik, Usman Wahla (special invitee), and Mir Hassan Naqvi (Additional Secretary). During the Championship of Legends, the Indian team played only one match and refused to face Pakistan in both of their group-stage fixtures. Despite this, Pakistani players were sidelined, prompting strong backlash from the PCB. Bilateral cricket between Pakistan and India has remained frozen since 2008. The only brief resumption came in 2012, when Pakistan toured India for an ODI series led by Shahid Afridi, resulting in a series win for Pakistan. The PCB reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the sanctity of the sport and pledged to raise its voice at all relevant forums against politically tainted decisions in international cricket.

Pakistan vs West Indies: Saim Ayub, Hasan Nawaz key performers as Shaheens take lead in T20I series
Pakistan's all-round performance propelled them to a thrilling 14-run victory over the West Indies in the opening T20I of the three-match series at Central Broward Regional Park, Lauderhill, on Friday. Chasing a target of 179, the West Indies faltered after a promising start, finishing at 164-7. Opener pair Jewel Andrew and Johnson Charles gave their side a solid foundation, putting on 72 runs for the first wicket. However, the game turned on its head in the 12th over when Pakistan's Mohammad Nawaz took three wickets in a single over, reducing the West Indies from 72-0 to 75-3. Andrew (35) and Charles (35) both fell, followed by Gudakesh Motie, who was dismissed for a golden duck. The collapse continued as Saim Ayub, playing as a part-time spinner, took two wickets, including the crucial scalp of West Indies captain Shai Hope for just two. Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi and Sufiyan Muqeem also contributed with key wickets, leaving the West Indies struggling at 110-6 by the 16th over. Despite a valiant effort from Jason Holder, who finished on an unbeaten 30 off 12 balls, the required rate proved too steep, and the West Indies were bowled out for 164. Nawaz's figures of 3/23 were crucial in the win, while Saim Ayub claimed 2/15. Earlier, Pakistan posted 178-7 after being asked to bat. Openers Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub gave the team a steady start, but Farhan was dismissed for 14. Saim anchored the innings, making a fluent 57 off 38 balls with five boundaries and two sixes. Fakhar Zaman (28) supported well before falling to Shamar Joseph, who finished with 3/35. 🌟 Man of the Match 🌟@SaimAyub7 bags the award 🏅 for a superb all-round show — 57 runs with the bat & 2/20 with the ball 🔥#WIvPAK | #BackTheBoysInGreen — Pakistan Cricket (@TheRealPCB) August 1, 2025 Hassan Nawaz added a quickfire 24 off 18 balls before Akeal Hosein dismissed him, and Mohammad Nawaz chipped in with 8 off 6 balls. Faheem Ashraf (15) and Salman Ali Agha (11) provided important late runs, while Mohammad Haris finished the innings in style with a six on the last ball, taking Pakistan's total to 178-7. Pakistan now lead the series 1-0, with the second match scheduled for Sunday.
