In Sheer Elegance, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni Walks At India Couture Week 2025
On Day 2 of Hyundai India Couture Week 2025, in association with Reliance Brands, a Fashion Design Council of India initiative, designer Suneet Varma unveiled his latest couture collection, Sehr. With Riddhima Kapoor Sahni as the showstopper, the presentation was nothing short of a visual poem. The showcase delicately straddled the line between fantasy and high fashion.
Gracing the runway as the showstopper was Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, of Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives fame on Netflix. Her presence added a touch of starry sophistication to an already mesmerising showcase. Her showstopper ensemble featured a sheer full-sleeved shimmery tip that was paired with a pastel-hued skirt. The skirt featured stunning floral embroidery in shades of pink and green, along with golden threadwork. The look also included a long sheer cape that grazed the runway as she walked with confidence in her steps.
Sehr, a beautiful Urdu word that translates to 'enchantment' or 'magic,' was the perfect title for a collection that felt like a whispered fairytale. Suneet, known for his mastery of dramatic storytelling and artistic finesse, created an immersive runway experience that resembled an enchanted forest at twilight: mysterious, elegant, and quietly spellbinding.
True to his signature style, the collection leaned heavily into romance and mood this season. Models glided down the runway in dreamlike ensembles that shimmered under the soft glow of the lights. Fluid chiffons and silks floated around them like mist, while corseted bodices and cascading shararas brought structure to the softness. Each piece seemed to tell a story of femininity, desire, and dreams just on the edge of reality.
The detailing was nothing short of exquisite. Think vines spun from crystals, glinting threadwork reminiscent of stardust, and delicate adornments of garnet and pearl that caught the light with every step. The colour palette, too, added to the magic: dusky rose, icy lilac, dove grey, and midnight black created a moody yet romantic canvas, echoing the transition between day and night.
The 18th edition of Hyundai India Couture Week 2025, presented in collaboration with Reliance Brands and spearheaded by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), is currently underway at the Taj Palace in New Delhi and will run until July 30. The week-long celebration of Indian haute couture opened with a spectacular show by Rahul Mishra and features an impressive lineup of renowned designers, including Ritu Kumar, JJ Valaya, Manish Malhotra, Aisha Rao, Falguni Shane Peacock, Tarun Tahiliani, Rimzim Dadu, Shantnu & Nikhil, Amit Aggarwal, Rohit Bal, and Jayanti Reddy.
